I was at this very show. At the end of the last song Kyo just fell down and everyone thought he was doing "a bit". Luckily he eventually got up on his own.
More Dir En Grey please. It's a great rabbit hole to go down. They have so many different styles they incorporate in the music and as you can see Kyo can do any singing style as well. It's nice to see you guys appreciate them without having a big metal background. They really push the envelope and a lot of long term metal-heads can't appreciate them.
The high-pitched shout in Kyo is a technique called whistle shout. This is a technique created by Kyo by fusing whistle voice and shout voice. Many musicians in Japan are aiming for him to make a voice like him. He was also the first in Japan to use multiple singing styles such as growl voice, shout, and clean voice. It is now influencing many Japanese musicians.
@@darkkinggaming7988 Eventually. This was the last song that night iirc. The circumstances around this were that he was having problems with his throat before the show even started, and completely lost his voice about halfway in, and he just kept getting more angry, which led to this outburst of "fuck it, if my voice is fucked i'm going out as hard as I can".
@@xerodelacroix5552 I think the Lotus symphonic version is from this live? The one where he tries singing with cracked vocals and he is wearing a red leather jacket. I saw that video once and haven't been able to click play ever again, it's so painful to watch.
When I think of proof that sheer willpower can carry you through anything, I think of Kyo. He is pretty much willpower personified. He's always been a great performer, but I believe he's given tons more effort ever since his best friend who sang in another band died. That band was called Kagerou and the singer's name was Daisuke Ochida. He wasn't as versatile vocally but still had a unique voice and his energy on stage was similar to Kyo's. He had a bad heart too, but death was caused by mixing alcohol and pills. His death deeply effected Kyo. It seems to me when Kyo's on stage now he's trying to live it up for the both of them, since Daisuke no longer can. Daisuke's heart condition never stopped him, so Kyo won't let sickness stop him either.
Thank you very much for reacting again to DIR EN GREY, much love to them and to you who take the time to listen and appreciate this incredible band. Please react to more songs, you will always be pleasantly surprised. A hug from Colombia.
I believe this was from the tour right before they went on a temporary hiatus because of Kyo's throat issues. I believe he had polyps on his vocal cords that time around. I was at a show on the American leg of their 2011 World Tour (Agi Quod Agis?? Spelling?). At one point, between songs, I remember him crouched in front of the drum set, downing two whole water bottles in one go, and wiping his face vigorously with a towel. It was obvious Kyo was in a lot of pain. The whole band felt off that day, despite putting on a great show. I knew because I had seen them in 2009 and they were on point, interacting with the audience, and full of energy. You could tell something was wrong. There's videos from the Japanese leg of the tour where Kyo's voice gave out entirely, sometimes no sound even coming out. Poor man looked absolutely heartbroken
So glad my request was answered 👍💗 Sorry for the name but I had a lot of fun when you guys tried to say one of the hardest tongue twister ever 🤣 And he nailed it😮⁉️
I really love your DIR EN GREY’s reaction ! :) Yeah this was a really bad moment for the band because at that time he had to stop singing a get a surgery if I’m not wrong.
Another Dir En Grey song to react to: The Blossoming Beelzebub (Album version) That song is a horror masterpiece. I also suggest looking into the song's meaning.
I find that dir en greys live performances are weak. I've seen them live twice and he really isn't as good as on the album. Disregard original comment. React to album version of The Blossoming Beelzebub.
Also if you watch footage from between 2014 and I think maybe 2018? The guitarist Kaoru literally had his picks tapped to his hand because he had loose tendons in his hand and couldn't even hold a pick. Their work ethic is ridiculous.
@@gjrloiouyfchicfhhudrgky3470 I'm not sure about that, but I thought Die was sick too. I know Kaoru hand issues later down the track but this was a bit before.

I'm not sure how one would put vibrato on your whistle fry but my god he did it.
Fun fact for ya.
Bcuz of his constant fry whistle scream. He goes throat surgery 7 times to heal his extreme vocal .😄👍

They were amazed by Kyo's whistle frye because he mixed vibrtao in there.
He blacked out for real at the end.
