I usually only cut down in spring. And you can burn it down too in spring if that’s your preferred management option . I usually only do one or other every 3rd season .
Thank you for watching 👨🏻👍🏼…. And Yeah I am an enthusiast and not a pro for sure . But I do what I can . And I am happy with what’s happening so far . I was expecting even less then that . Apparently 3 years to really see if you did a good job with it .
I just planted 50 rhizomes to create a screen between my house and our WAY TOO CLOSE neighbor. I was wondering if you would do a quick video to show the growth of what you’ve planted already? I’d love to see it in stages.
Thanks for watching . And That’s my plan, for the growth to do a few stages of growth, but as of yet I don’t have any growth to show. I feel with the heat picking up here in NY they should be popping up very soon. Will keep you posted
Thanks for watching and commenting . All I did was dig holes and pop the Rhizomes in ground. All are growing great . Maybe the weeds made them expand slower , but I have had great success with that planting. In that 1st year I may have hand weeded a little over bearing weed spots . I think it’s way hardier than say switchgrass so it pushed thru better .. I added a link to a short that shows that planting 3 years later
Thanks for watching 👨🏻👍🏼, and as far as I would say . As long as you can break ground and it’s not frozen , you should be fine . Just don’t expect any growth until the weather gets much warmer . These are warm season grasses🌾 . The real world website I have tagged in video has planting instructions with best times To plant I believe . Thanks for the comment and more to come 👨🏻👍🏼
The best way to bring that awesome Asian look to the Americas just like us Americans like... Didn't realize how much of a fan of East Asia everyone was here. Rhizomes actually make a plant more invasive, pretty much just by definition. It doesn't need seed to invade (or creep as it was put). Plant something American. Stop taking the easy way out people. If people keep using "switchgrass" as their buzzwords for any tall, outrageously growing non-native grass, then we're going to be reading tales of the historical accounts of the long lost Wild Turkey to our kids as the breeze blows through the miscanthus, privet, honeysuckle hedge outside of the window as we dream of a world where birds and insects used to thrive. Congrats of replacing Americans with Asians though.
Thanks for watching , sorry my planting upset you. The deer industry really pushes the Miscanthus, and I am no professional just an enthusiast. The MGrass meets my needs in some areas of my property. I have a lot of traditional switchgrass as well . Hopefully you can find some merit to some of my other projects and videos . Thanks for watching 👨🏻👍🏼
No Miscanthus is a grass. Not eaten or browsed at all. They will most def bed in it though . They love this stuff for seclusion bedding if you plant it wider then say 20’ feet wide
@@Outdoormaniac3123 no it grows kinda slow, dose not become invasive to your property. It slowly expands in all directions by about 4 inches every year . So you do not need to worry You will not see this suddenly pop up somewhere else from where your planting was
You're not saying it correctly. It's not ri-o-zome. Where the heck do you see that o in the beginning? You put the word on the screen and pronounce it incorrectly.
Lmao !! I love your frustration. I makes me chuckle to myself , I am such a self entertainer. My work team also gets driven nuts at my mispronunciations Thanks for watching and noticing . More to come, hope you stick around 👨🏻👍🏼
Lol I know , but good news is the year after this i planted more without applying any “Herbicide” and it did ok. The real proof will be this summer when that area wakes up . More to come 👍🏼👍🏼 Ps it does look really nice 🌱🌱🌱
No one wants eyes on them. Underwear only or not. I dont, anyway. Perfectly reasonable.🤣😭😹 It feels uncomfortable. Ppl do. Block them! BLOCK THEM!! 🤣😭😂

"This is my neighbors property and I do love him but I'm trying to block him out-" I feel this statement deep in my soul 😂
Thanks for watching , you must be an excellent land manager to feel the way I do so passionately. Lmao . 👨🏻👍🏼
What care does it take. Cut it in the fall, cut it in the spring or not at all?

Do the deer eat it?

How much atrazine did you use for one load in the backpack sprayer?
Used 3 quarts Per Acre ratio on my Atrazine , preEmerging Herbacide
I wish u also showed planting part... covering with soil.. 🥲
Cover up and lightly hand or foot pack . Real simple and easy
Thanks to watching the video . Really appreciate it 👍🏼

I am going into year 4 and I have not found it anywhere Else except where I planted it . Are you seeing it spread ???
You had me until you said "herbicide".
