Hey, what psi did you set the beer to when kegging? And for how long? Tried following the recipe and kegged it at 12psi for 6 days and it still needs more carbonation. Any advice?
Usually I set it to about 10-12 and it takes a week. You can burst carb at higher pressures for shorter time but then you risk over carbonating. I would say just give it a few more days. Otherwise next time burst carb at 35psi for 24 hours and then lower it down to 10psi for a day or so if you want it done fast
Superb video, I actually use the same wort chiller concept, but I recirculate mine with a frozen solid 5 gallon bucket of ice with a little water on top to get it going. Cheers!
Great video! Just a quick note: freezing doesn't actually kill all of the microbes that are in fruit. Freezing fruit prior to adding into beer is mainly used to break down cell walls, making the fruit a bit juicier. Many spoilage microbes are hard to kill and a freeze won't do the job. Soaking the fruit in a Sodium Metabisulfite mixture will help. Let it sit for 10 minutes, remove the fruit, freeze/thaw, and add it to your beer!
Try using a brewing software to calculate how much you need for your system. I use percentages because everyone has different levels of efficiency. So your amounts might be different than mine
Question, after watermelon you keg it 10psi, co2 , store it ambient or refrigerated temperature? For a week thank you i made same recepie im about a week in now im making it with rasberries
Yo! Just started getting into the home brewing game and I came across your channel! Great content dude! I got a quick question. What types of wheat and hops do you think is best for you to complement fruit? Specifically pineapple and mango?
Hey thanks for watching! There are TONS of hops that can give fruity notes. I really like Amarillo, El Dorado, and Citra. I recommend going to usahops.org/hop-finder to get a better idea of all the potential flavor and aroma options!
Would a 8.5 gallon brew kettle be too small to BIAB this recipe?! Im going to move to BIAB after i finish off the 3 extract kits I have and was trying to decide if i need to move up in kettle size right away or if i can get away with my current kettle for a few batches before moving to a bigger one.
I have an 8 gallon kettle and make 5 gallon batches all the time with no problem. The stronger the beer the more space you will need so I guess if you see yourself doing huge beers all the time I’d go a little bigger. But for your average brew 8.5 is perfect
Yeah 5 gals but amounts depend on your individual efficiency. If you use a brewing software you can get percentages when you add grains. Then just add them until you hit the OG
Put the Mellon chunks in a blender after removing the watermelon rind. The seeds and fibers will fall out. Then you have straight watermelon juice you can add after fermentation is complete.
I actually freeze the juice and drop it in one block into the fermentor. I don’t want the juice starting to ferment before it gets in the keg and chilled down. Which has happened to me. Live n learn Cheers
So this is what confuses me and I'm just getting into brewing. Your saying you use 56% etc of whatever malt..how do you know how much in pounds/ounces to use? The percentages confuse me
Try using a brewing software, there are some free ones out there. When you add the grains you will see the percentages change, then just keep adding until you hit the OG.
This looks so good for summer! I love watermelon flavor anything!! 🍺☺️
Then this is the perfect beer for you!
That looks soooo good!
I love wheat beers! Great video!
Thank you, me too. So refreshing!
Yes. Seven Brothers Brewery in the UK have a watermelon wheat and it's great. Think I'll be trying this recipe
Awesome send me a pic if you do!
Ive made a Watermelon Hefeweizen beer recently and man was it good. Ill be making a few tweaks to it for next summer.
Nice! its the perfect summer drink IMO
does the wort chiller help prevent wild yeasts and bacteria from taking over because it takes so long to cool naturally?
I have only had a watermelon sour beer. I might give this wheat ale a try.
You should it’s delicious!
Awesome bro thanks
Nice Recipe !!! Looks really refreshing, cheers 🔥🍻
Thank you, cheers!!

Awesome! I need to try that, I don't have an ice maker so thats a great idea!
Great content man
Thank you man, glad you liked it!

Great reco thanks for that! Prob best to use SMB if your concerned about infection
another solid video! is that adobe after effects I smell?!?!!
Thanks man! And yes it is. Just a smidge.. ha!
Nice! When does the hopsock with the watermelon come out of the keg?
Thanks, I usually keep it in the keg until it’s empty and then clean it up. You could try pulling it out earlier but could risk oxidation.
Love the video! What were your grain measurements for this brew? (Not just percentages)

Nice! Next time, use hüll melon hops from germany ;)
Ooh great idea!!

Refrigerated, co2 only really full absorbs in cold liquid. Best of luck!
@@TheBruSho last thing what pressure do you set for kegarator? alot of places say wheat ales 15-20psi? thank you
@@magosd70s I pretty much set everything to 12 psi because I’m lazy but you could try other rates. 20 seems a bit high though. 10 is average
@@TheBruSho Thank you for Fast Response Ive Become a Producer!!!!!! i have joined love your content Thank you Again
@@magosd70s Love to hear that!! Thank you and keep on brewing!

Do you leave the watermelon in the keg until the keg is empty
Yeah I do, I’ve had no issues doing that

@@TheBruSho awesome!!! Thank you so much for the reply. I can’t wait to move up to all grain and unlock more flavor and styles.
@@TriumvirateHoldings it’s a game changer! Happy brewing!
Grain bills video please teach us how to calculate the % into lbs. I am assuming you are basing this 5 gallon on 10lbs ?
Yeah 5 gals but amounts depend on your individual efficiency. If you use a brewing software you can get percentages when you add grains. Then just add them until you hit the OG
How much watermelon flavor did you taste? Would you alter it for any future recipes?
could the bag get stuck in the spear of the keg?
I haven’t had it happen but I suppose it could happen. An easy fix would be to shoot co2 down the liquid side to clear any clog
@@TheBruSho true, thanks!
How does one increase the abv in the recipe?
Great question! You could either mash at a lower temp (ex: 148-150ºF) to get more fermentable sugars or add some sugar to the boil
What if I would put all my fruit at flameout?
I'd imagine you get a ton of aroma and it will break down a decent amount into the brew. Give it a shot and let me know how it goes!
Put the Mellon chunks in a blender after removing the watermelon rind. The seeds and fibers will fall out. Then you have straight watermelon juice you can add after fermentation is complete.
Great tip! Will have to try this next time, guess you just need to make sure blender is sanitized

I made it with Strawberries and Raspberries and it became Pink ASFxck
