Ok so the real debate, Warheads or Sourpatch kids?
Sour patch!!
sourpatch kids are way better. warheads are actually nasty af, you dont eat them for taste, but as a test of endurance
Sour patch!!
Lemon heads
Lemonheads
Another great and informative video! Always amazed how you can make these so accessible yet still informative to more experienced brewers 👌That recipe sounds delicious!
Thanks so much man, It’s tough to make something for everyone so I at least try to keep it interesting
Really Enjoyed Your Video , Thanks ! 🐯🤠
I like how you put this together! You front loaded it with a how to and then showed us how to use one of the techniques. Bravo!
Thanks buddy! I put a lot of thought into this one
Great video sir! I've always been fascinated with sours. I've made a few with Philly, but I'm ready to take it to the next level. Cheers!
Heck yeah man, I'm sure you'll crush it!
Really enjoyed this video Trent! I'm about to embark on my first kettle sour brew day today so it was awesome that you published it at the perfect time for me to double check my work! Looks absolutely delicious!
Haha well good cuz I often reference your videos for recipe ideas, a good trade off
I was skeptical about the Lallemand Philly Sour yeast over more traditional souring methods, but it produces a very pleasant, easy-drinking sour. It has quickly become a favourite at our small, seasonal taproom.
I need to try a gose…that one looks great!!!!
Great Video Trent ! Info on point, very clear. Cheers 🍺!
Cheers buddy thanks!
Just love all your videos, there an amazing resource for home brewing. Do you have any recipes for making beer with popcorn? I’ve seen a few recipes that equate popcorn to flaked maize. I just want a kettle corn/ carnal corn ale.
Thank you! I don’t have a recipe but I did try a popcorn lager recently that was super good. May have to try it out!
This looks so crisp & delicious! Also love the song at the end 😉
Thanks so much! 😊
Excellent editing 👌
Dogfish head has an amazing lime sea salt sour. This is definitely worth trying, thank you!
I've had that, super refreshing. Mine definitely turns the lime to 11
I’ve been craving a Berliner Weisse lately, love a good sour!!! Cheers 🍻
Berliner Weisse can be mighty good too! Cheers man!
I've personally found that kettle sours almost always have a strong DMS funk to them that is really distracting. Not a fan. I've used Philly Sour a few times and it has always turned out far cleaner than my kettle sour attempts, or brewery sour beers. Would highly recommend for sure. Thanks for the vid!
Sourpatch Kids for sure. I use goodbelly as well for a ton of recipes, but never a key lime pie! Might have to do that one next, looks delicious!
Can't wait to see what you come up with!
I wasn't thirsty, but now I am. Very amazing sour recipe Trent! I will have to try this one someday. Any recommendations to get some graham cracker flavor in there as well? Or do you not recommend the graham cracker profile with this beer?
You could try adding more graham crackers. Or some honey malt maybe? Definitely some ways to experiment with it for sure.
I’ve used Philly Sour with good results. I need to give the Sourvisiae a try.
Yeah I’m excited to compare them a bit myself!
Sour beers are perfect for summer
100% 🍻
Omg I'm obsessed with sours! Would LOVE to make this! I've just been nervous to dive into beer 😭
You can absolutely do it! Start with a partial mash, and try one of those souring yeasts. Makes it super easy. You already got the fermentation down which is really the hard part
@@TheBruSho Eeeee I gotta try it! Thank you!
Love q good sour. I feel like I have almost come full circle when it comes to trying different beers. I hated on lagers for a long time but now I find myself drinking them more and more.
Do you think you could recreate the original Newcastle recipe? The new recipe they have in the States is awful and it's a beer that used to bring back so many memories.
That’s a good idea. I used to love that beer, could be a fun quest!
Is it necessary to pasteurize when pitching Sourvisiae after fermentation? Enjoyed you videos.
Based on what I've learned since making this you do not need to worry about sour bacteria infecting gear with those yeast (sourvisiae/philly sour) it just produces lactic acid during fermentation but you can clean as normal
I had a Gatorade gose once. It was something
4 Very Nice !
What are good books on learning brewing /fermenting? Thanks
My favorite is probably Mastering Homebrew by Randy Mosher but I have some recommended books on my Amazon shop: www.amazon.com/shop/thebrusho
Köln from Lallemand is an incredible yeast!
I’m a fan!
Very well cleared explaining of methods about ways to make sour beers!
I never tried Sour beers myself, as I'm more cider lover XD
Also, I thought Lime and Vanilla don't mix.
Thanks! And I would say the vanilla flavor is very light with the amount I used. More to complete the key lime pie theme but totally could be omitted if you don’t like it
@@TheBruSho Anytime!
Nah, not like it's bad or anything. I'm sure vanilla does add sweetness that may combo lime flavour as long it doesn't overpowering.
Similarly, how I used orange and elderflower for brew I made. I'll have to see if the tastes well balance or not.)
Great video!! Just one question, you didn't sanitize in any way the vainilla extract?
I didn’t, I think it’s alcohol base so I wasn’t worried. Plus the pH and and alcohol help to protect the beer too
@@TheBruSho makes sense for me, thank you!!
any commercial recommendations for this style, I wanna try it before committing to making it
I just made this recipe up but Anderson Valley and Dogfish head have some well known and fairly available examples in the US.
Thanks a bunch for this video! I'm just starting to get into brewing and I've always been interested in trying to brew my own gose and this one seems super interesting to me. I do have one question though, in the listed recipe you have:
"Boil for 30 mins, 0.25oz Motueka @ 30min, -0.5oz Motueka @ flameout"
Is there a typo in this? Wouldn't this just be adding all the hops at 30 minutes or am I misunderstanding a step?
Hey thanks, so to clarify: Only boiling for 30 mins. Adding the first .25oz at the top of the boil and the .5oz at the end of the boil
@@TheBruSho ah, gotcha! Thanks so much!
Sours! Glad you differentiated pH from TA. A lot of ppl don't get that.
Learned it from awesome guys like you!
Lol “pretend I didn’t forget to film this part…”. Been there done that!
Do you have a link to the PH meter?
Here is the one I recommend for best budget option:
amzn.to/47wfKSv
How would you convert this to a milkshake ipa
Probably by adding lactose. But I don’t use it so I can’t say how much sorry
@@TheBruSho all good. Thank you.
I'm interested in the process but I really don't get sour beers. I have tried some different kinds but it's not my thing. Plus I'd like to keep my teeth the way they are 😅
I wasn’t into them for a long time either but the lighter sours are nice. But I get that they are not for everyone
THIS CHANNEL USED TO BE GOOD
I agree... what happened?
