1 is a one hand katana others are 2 hands
Does the website you linked ship to the US
For all these katanas you could buy a real Nihonto in Shirasaya. Not a katana size, maybe smaller like short Wakizashi. But REAL piece of art, maybe even with its papers.
through which website can I order a katana sword?
I need a katana, From Bangladesh
I was tearing down a really old house, and when we got into the attic I found an old foot locker ,when I got it home it sat in the mud room for 2-3 weeks before I opened it and inside was a Japanese flag and an officer's katana . It has the signature on the tang .I had it checked and it is over 200 years old.
its worth somethin man. probably around 1000-3000 or maybe more. (im no expert)
Depends on who made it and the people who owned it also the condition and documentation of the blade
What did you do with it?
That's a relic don't sell it
Find his family and hand it down?
my guy has ghost of tsushima music playing in the background XD

Yes that's a nice looking Katana although i'm a little bit sceptical towards highly decorated things. It's a little bit like wine. Some of the cheapest wine comes in very sophisticated bottles. Also the teapots. The most decorated ones are not the good ones. One has to make the blade test to know.
YES! All these products that aim to spend money on their packaging for the "unboxing experience" is all a waste of money that could have been invested in their product. As for swords, same thing. You're purchasing a blade, not fittings or a sheath
@@pipbowl3272 I even believe the temper line is fake! There should be a color difference in the metal
@@123anes1 It's not ,it clay temped and it a Officers model from the World Wars. Made very nicely a good blade with no Bohi.
Any real Katana guy can see it a very functional blade but still a Officers show piece. 🐻🎌🐻🎌🐻
@@pipbowl3272 are you dumb? The fittings are equally as important as the blade. They need be good quality and should not be cheaply made.
That small knife is as sharp as a bowling ball.
Lmao. Him sawing through tape...
Its a throwing knife. Its not meant to have a sharp edge.
More of his junk blades.

I was gonna say plastic spoon.
Love how you used Jin Sakai theme and then it kicked up right as you removed the Scabbard absolutely brilliant, good stuff man
I'm always in awe of the blades forged by Japanese master craftsmen. No one has ever done it better from what I've seen.
I see some of the elements from Chinese swords. Especially the sword's wooden case is no way near Japanese Katana. It is very very awkward that picture is painted on Katana case. Only Chinese swords have pictures on it. Usually Japanese Katana don't have any pictures. If they do, it is very strange. Also, the big loop or should I call it a ring around the top part of Katana? Anyway, it is screaming "Chinese." Katana should just have rope handle instead of ring. Also, the bottom tip of the case has another extra marking which you can't find from Japanese Katana. I know Aliexpress is infamous about copies and fake items, but this ain't even close to Japanese katana. It is beautiful to look at, but it is mixed with Japanese and Chinese. Japnese, Korean, Chinese swords all look different. They have their unique distinctive trade marks that you can not mix with.
If you want to buy a real katana in Japan, it will cost you a lot of money. Thousands more. I've seen a real Katana long time ago, which was a little less than 6 feet long. It was indeed a massive weaponery.
Pretty sure gunto and some old tachi, as well as court swords (those worn by the Emperor and the court officials), had tassels on the tsuka-gashira. Likely borrowed over from Chinese customs, and probably somewhat inconvenient in battle but a great way to show status. The ha and koshirae seem tachi-like, although they also give me strong gunto vibes, but either way I think the tassel's accurate. Dunno about the button, though, although it is innovative (somebody yoinking your katana or wakizashi from their saya and killing you with them would be pretty unwanted, obviously, and was a problem, thus the reason samurai had their hands over their daisho a lot). If anybody has heard of the existence of a button lock please enlighten me.
Edit: The button lock is actually a very common thing on gunto.
It’s cool that another UA-cam channel inspires your channel but it’s weird to just imitate everything

Absolutely beautiful sword. You can see all the fine detail and the blade was perfect.
The pictures on the Saya are likely from Shunga, which were a type of Ukiyoe and were traditionally given to young brides to teach them lovemaking before their wedding night. Interesting to see them on a Katana Saya. Nice piece!!
A gunto with some creative freedom.
I’ve seen this one before.
"It's razor sharp" proceeds to tear through paper in way that indicates a very dull edge.
if you want razor try victornox boning knife ,scary as f
that's not the best way to show a blade's sharpness. the blade is actually very sharp
However,be very, very careful when pull it out.Otherwize you will be able to count on fingers only up to seven or eight:-)
Yeah nokia used to be a paper printing company and we know what happend
Well the cutting abilities of the katana are not strictly from the edge but also the shape of the bevel giving the blade a minuscule co-efficient of drag when cutting through things of a flesh like consistency.
Officially now u're become a samurai warrior ... Congrats bro
Everyone rag-ing on guntos, saying "they're not katanas"
Every POW survivor of the Japanese who witnessed their buddies being decapitated by those very same industrial produced blades..
"WHAT'S THE F***ING DIFFERENCE?"
Guntos are katanas that were factory made from spring or factory produced high carbon steel. They do function the same as traditionally made katanas, the only differences are astetics. You can see the pattern made during the forging process.
@@jakelam5089 Yup.
So if the steel is a quality uniform steel and is quenched it’s essentially as strong as hand forged, yes?
Just elitism
@@jakelam5089 be specific at gunto any types some gunto has a blade from edo just mounted.
"And ofcourse the blade is razor sharp" - Tears thru paper instead of cutting it.
Agree, it's almost as sharp as a butter knife at that point.
Lick it, ber you wouldn't, sides most can sharpen on their own.
They come like that for people like you from hurting yourself, you know this is not for shaving you face, but can remove your head from your shoulders, sides if it was a little dull it would hurt a little more

What's not to like they're gorgeous
Sher they are beautiful but are they full tang and made properly that is the question
ok to those that care the hamon line on this sword is not genuine its just a line that was acid etched on
Indeed
Its a replica on shin-gunto military issued swords in ww2.
Exactly what I was gunna say and shin gunto swords were modeled after a tachi and not a katana
@@case4694 this is the comment I was looking for. I knew this was a tachi the moment I saw the saya.
I’ve got an old school type 95 shin-gunto wooden handle sword from my Japanese grandfather who was in the military, and god do I love that baby.
Tachi was 30" or more
They cut personal swords down on the handle, so if the blade is still 30" or if you can see finished work behind the tsuba it was a tachi.
All military swords olive drab or covered with brown leather, and in WW2 incorporated the lock then only, so technically it's neither, or has bits of both, the only thing WW2 is the latch, the military to copied the hardware from a time it was the style used on the Calvert sword, it's still cool, and all haters that said it's dull wouldn't lick that blade... not even a half inch, on its own weight, so i would say it's sharp enough
Very cool! Might I give you some advise when you open boxes? Use just the tip of the blade to barely cut the tape. Pinch the blade between your thumb and index finger and gently run the blade across the tape. A lot of people get into the bad habit of plunging a knife into a box and damaging the contents inside.
I think he is learning...
First video I saw he was cutting almost the box... Now he knows only to cut the plastic parts ( tape)
Sorry... Thanks thanks namaste Haribol Asewe!!

1- Not sharp at all
2- Mid sharp for laido and bamboo cutting training
3- Full Sharp for hard cutting (Cut human head?)

True
A beautyful collectors item. I don´t like the button for drawing the sword. Seems a bit odd.
The drawings on the saya are cool.
It is a copy of the Japanese Officer Sword. The button is authentic.
Amazing working 👍👍👍
Very nice. I have a nice Katana and matched Tanto that are beautiful and more decorative. Beautiful gold and black braid on the handles with matching braid and brass emblem mid way on the scabbard.
A lot of difrent Japanese swords are katanas! :) it's a general therm.. Most of you think about uchi and some of the comments say one of the swords is a tachi but not a katana. Both uchikatana and tachikatana are katanas. There are more classified katanas with their own names like uchi or tachi
Thank you, that was very informative.
I Can but now
Actually that’s false. The katana is its own class of blade, a 50cm long made from clay tempered steel worn by the samurai class as a mark of their class and for self defence. For example the tachi came before the katana and is intended for use on horseback due to its long length. The tachi cannot be a different type of katana if it came before the katana. The uchikatana is also a different class of blade, intended to be used against cavalry due to its long blade and handle. Therefore it cannot be a katana. The katana is a specific blade, not a general term. You cannot call a tachi a katana, or a uchikatana a katana.
@@darkmax9926 i forgot this comment lol,yes its partly wrong. Anyway, a katana is from 60cm to x long. Most of the times under 90cm
@@darkmax9926 oh and today the usage of the therm has "changed" and is used for a lot of sword
That first one is called a tachi it's older then the katana
A tachi is also a katana. Most of the Japanese swords are katanas. There are good videos on UA-cam. Katana is a general therm
@@Quintcy very true but the when the katana was developed that's when the term stared to be used more
@@firebrosibarra7089 yes that right too. The point i want to make is that in Japan "katana" is a therm for "sword" (not all but a lot of difrent ones) so if you walk up to a real Japanese swordsman and tell him that you have bought a katana. He would ask you what kind of katana you bought. Uchikatana and tachikatana being the most spread of them
Edit: most known in western society
@@Quintcy agreed

Where you get the 100 dollar katanas from
What kind of knife is that knife used to cut the tape?
You see how the ends if those patterns on the blades are white that sad because it's fake tempering I think
I was going to say, I think it’s acid etching, the edge should be a completely different shade compared to the rest due to the clay heat treatment, and it doesn’t look like it is 😬
You’re right
Anybody heard ghost music?
That legendary music in the background from Revenge of the Ninja (1983)!
the music is from: Ghost of tsushima.
What brand is that katana?
Ok , thats actually Gorgeous
(Ghost of Tsushima song improves It)
nope
Ok
Razor sharp wouldn’t tear the paper at all. But it is nice. I like it
The reason it tears the paper is because the edge of the blade stops touching the paper and the paper just gets torn by the force of the blade
@@taranparke-antonis1321 nah, go look at some burrfection videos. A truly sharp edge would glide through the paper as if it were not even there
Looks like a Type 98 Shin Gunto? Very nice...
The saya is gorgeous.
The tempered line ain’t real there’s no way you will get a actual samurai soft to hardened steal blade for 500.
ye the hamon is acid etched
Isn't that acid etched and not a real temper line?
yeah looks totally fake
It's a real hamon but most likely quenched in oil instead of water, they did this in ww2 times to have a better chance of the blade making it past the quenching to be used and not get a Crack and have to start over. They we r e pumping these out real quick for the war effort.
Cool
Nice knife. What make and model is it?
I really like this katana but the link to buy from Ali Express is broken. Is there somewhere that still sells it?
Looks kinda like a copy of a WW2 Japanese Officers Sword, scabbard and all
Correct it’s called a shin gunto which is modeled after a tachi (not a katana) they are currently banned in Japan
@@case4694
Can’t blame them for banning them
Yeah a cheap inspired copy
This dude wearing gloves as though his skin oils will damage the value of the swords lol
The locking system and the saya and kachira are gunto koshirae style.
where do you buy from
I do believe my butter knives are sharper then that. I dont have a dull knife
If your talking about when he cut the paper I guess I found it hard considering the blade is long and he didnt hold the paper ferm enough that's why it made it look like it's not a sharp blade
If you wanted to spend 500 bucks I could have sold you a bridge. The Chinese took you for a ride on this one.
Amazing bro
Great video. Thank you my friend.
You show off your knife in the beginning like it’s something fancy but it can barely “saw” through the tape on the box, for some reason I already believe you don’t know much about blades
i think the same thing too. he should cut the tape using spoon is much better.
“It must be a stand”
Dio: *hehe boi*
Where can I get one??
What's the brand of the unboxing knife?
Those are some beautiful swords my man. Enjoy them.
The blade looks like it's made of cheap steel. That special coating (hamon) to make the flexible steel more durable on the edge of the blade, is just etched in with acid to look like the real thing.
And that blade is dull af, just look at the paper tear. It doesn't cut clean.
Also, the rayskin handle looks way too smooth to be real rayskin. It's probably plastic then. If all my assumptions are correct, the sowrd itself is worth no more than 40$. Shame you got ripped off.
Would it make a difference of the tang of the sword had as many layers as the blade itself? You could have a decently stable handle, but terrible weapon. Or a great quality sword with a weak grip?
any reviews on the ww2 copy? and where can i get one? thanks!
if convert to our money, 500 still expensive...
I am sorry to say it's a Japanese military finish date back to WW two.....
Look interested on it, Hope that i will have one in the future.
