-- PRESENTATION: TENDŌ RYŪ NAGINATA-JUTSU --
Tendo Ryu is a self-proclaimed Sogo-bujutsu, a comprehensive martial art, which boasts a technical curriculum that supposedly enables its practitioners to face multiple battle situations. It is known mostly nowadays for its Naginata techniques (Japanese glaive), but the practice includes many different weapons, such as the long and short sword, the use of two swords simultaneously, the dagger, the staff (representing a broken Naginata), and the Kusarigama (Japanese sickle linked to a ball by a chain). The school was founded in 1582 by a special character, Saito Denkibo, who trained under the famous Tsukahara Bokuden. It was then transmitted through many generations up to its current master, Ms. Kimura Yasuko, who is also an important figure in the modern “Atarashii” Naginata world.

I always loved this school.very good, even if Kimura Yasuko is not on the video.
Are you sure there is Kimura Yasuko sensei on this video ? I don't think so
No, she wasn't there.
Her daughter led the demonstration.
@@seidobudostudies oh, ok, i understand : you put the name of the soke in the title of the video, event the soke is not on in, right ?
@@ddadou Yes indeed, as presented by the organizer, the Kobudo Shinkokai.
Kusarigama techniques are never demonstrated in this school
It is. Just not during the events we cover.
And Kimura sensei's grandson is really great at it (despite still being a kid).
@@seidobudostudies Great to know! I thought it was a lost tradition...
its very sad when koryu lost some kata tecniques... this is why i posted this... I hope koryu can be more popular to be preserved
