I was tidying my car on the week-end and connected the two green connectors together again, just thinking that‘s the way they belong. Same problem on the next day… fan on-off…blinking motor management. But I didn’t immediately make the link between the connectors and the blinking problem, so your video saved ma a lot of time. Thank you.
Thank you very much! I foolishly plugged this in when I was replacing trim after backup camera install on my 2011 Forester...it also caused a P0851 engine code. You saved me $$$!
I found that diagnostic connector on my 2008 Outback when replacing my cabin filter, it caused the cycling cooling fans and MIL light flashing with a P0851 code for Transmission park circuit low voltage. Thank you for your video.
I have been looking at this flashing check engine light since I bought the car and I have been pulling my hair out trying to figure out what it is I'm going out right now to see if those green plugs are connected and if they are oh my goodness thank you so much
On my subaru outback 2008, because of this green connector, CE also blinked, the fan turned on/off and there was an error DTC P0851 neitral switch input circuit low.
No clue, I bought the car for 400.. started and ran good but the dash was going nuts, I figured it would be a simple fix. Sure enough I found this video.. looks like the connectors had been together for a while.. but for all I know the previous owner had someone trying to diagnose something and they left them connected.
I had the same problem and also had seven codes come up on my 2001 Subaru forester. This was after someone at a State Inspection station plugged those two green connectors together. They were trying to get the ABS light to go out which was an unrelated issue. Unplugged them and that remedied the code problems and the issues associated with it.

Unplugged that test lead and the check engine light is gone…! 2005 Subaru Legacy… 😂
So the car can be driven around in “test mode” can it?? But what was the cause of the engine shaking then???
You saved my day. Thank you for sharing.
Damn you are my hero! Thanks!

Dude sweet thanks for the confirmation
Thanks My son's car went to the body shop and they connected the green plugs and it took us a month to figure it out.
To the average person, that connector looks like it should go together, thats why it often gets connected by mistake.
Thank you very much friend, your video helped me a lot! greetings from Chile
thank you. this was very helpful
Thanks for the video! Got a problem with a Subaru just like this.
This actually worked. I have a 2000 Subaru outback and I disconnected the green connector and the flashing light turned off.
Did that also solve the rough idle?
Thank you for this!!
What is the connector actually for?
On my subaru outback 2008, because of this green connector, CE also blinked, the fan turned on/off and there was an error DTC P0851 neitral switch input circuit low.
Thank you.it was the same in my subaru forester 2006

I just had the same problem on a 2006 Legacy L, someone plugged that plug together. I had 7 codes present, now i have none.

Pero eso es una reparacion Falsa, porque nunca se te encenderá el Check Engine por ningun problema ...
I felt so dumb after I watched this video.
