Hey, sprinting in any direction still works on 1.19+ even after the patch, so I'm going to share my "secret knowledge" here. How to sprint in any direction after the patch: 1. Sprint and hit any entity (ie. boat) and don't let go of "w". 2. Mount the rideable entity (ie. boat) without holding the sprint key, but still hold the "w" key. 3. Dismount the rideable entity and you can sprint in any direction now.
@@wahcloudy I found a several methods about a year ago. Here's 2 of them: 1. Hold w and your sprint key, then punch an entity, then let go of your sprint key (still hold w), and then light yourself on fire. Taking a tick of fire damage isn't enough, you need to actually get lit on fire. 2. Enter a boat while not sprinting, then hold w, then tap your sprint key, then perform an action that usually slows you, and then exit the boat. The action that usually slows you can be blocking a sword, eating, drinking, or charging a bow.

By the way, you can enable sprint mid-air, meaning when you're in an ancient city, you don't have to actually sprint and activate sensors to enable sneak sprinting, you can shift jump, release shift mid-air, click the sprint key then sneak before you hit the ground
Ohh sweet. You proved diagonal moving is faster than just forward. A few years ago when I claimed this was truth, everyone said I was an idiot. Very happy to have you prove I was always right. ❤
The sneak-sprinting is used in a lot various ways in 1.9+ PvP from Shield PvP, Sword PvP to UHC PvP to either get a shield stun or get a better hit, since it reduces the size of the hitbox and you can also sprint hit whilst doing it since you're "sprinting whilst sneaking" to put them into a combo. also the sneak-sprinting was fixed in a Feather Client update but was reverted because the pvp users complained that it wasn't supposed to be fixed since Mojang themselves didn't fix it. (i was there) Personally i think the boat method should be patched but not the sprint-sneaking because it's just a good tech.

i was a bit confused when you talked about it being patched, but i guess the sprint sneak is the same mechanic as the sprint crawl. sprint crawling is a thing i'm much more familiar with because speedrunners use it to dig through walls faster (especially through netherrack), as it allows you to jump forward in a crawl state, and i think a former second place 1.16 run used it, but i've done it in 1.20 and 1.21 and it definitely still works

Can you make a 4 block jump diagonal crouch sprint jumping after stopping over a block edge? If you can, that could be a more consistent method, especially for those worse at parkour.
If you go at a 45 degree angle, the sprint jump trick doesn't work. So the 45 degree angle trick is only really good if its faster to stay on the ground anyways. (The only scenario where you would want to stay on the ground that i can think of is when you have speed 2 or higher.)
its official name is actually omni sprint and it was used by people in the pvp community mostly by cheaters for example verzide used this but it wasnt as the same as the boat bug (credits due to whoever found this) which seems new but it was a cheat module :)
In bedrock you can do a similar glitch by sprinting forward then stop holding w and press s right after you stop holding w and you can sprint backwards (when you try to sprint jump backwards jumping makes you slower)
