- Explanation as to why I think lock manufacturers guarantees are worthless to a customer and best to use a reputable locksmith to supply and fit your new locks.
Dear Derek, You raise a very valid point about the guarantee. Just before Christmas I was called out to a uPVC door lock that had failed, I removed it to find the gear box was damaged, the customer insisted on buy the lock on line to save money and purchased one for £17.95 including postage ! When it arrived it was not a lock that had been made in the United Kingdom, I suggested that the lock should be returned as there was far too much work to be done on it to make it fit, but the customer did not want to pay another call out fee.and insisted that I continued. 7 hours later I had filed enough of it to get it to fit! He thinks the lock manufacturer will reemburse my charge. I think not Regards Chris
Your right Chris have a good 2024 and thanks for watching.
I think I can see this issue from both sides. Of course if you are the customer and a new lock has failed and its cost to get a locksmith out maybe the manufacturer should take a little more responsibility.
Thanks once again Derek for this info 🙂👍
Thanks for watching Roy this is one of the reasons I and a few others refuse to fit locks that customers have purchased themselves simply because we cannot guarantee the lock
@@DerekMercerlocksmithLast thing you want is a call back. Especially when the customer doesn't want to pay for it.
Nice one mate 👍

Happy New Year to you and yours mate 👍 🍻

@@DerekMercerlocksmith question for you: is there any chance you could tell me when I can buy a selection of springs for locks - long, short, soft, strong?
