(100) Overnight Locks What They Are And Why We Use Them

Locksmiths carry overnight locks to fit as a temporary measure when a multipoint lock as failed. They are used to allow the customer to lock the upvc or composite door until a the locksmith can return with the new lock.

Derek hello love the video and your explanation of centre cases I'm about to do 4 days training in march and these are all the things that I'll need to know so your knowledge is greatly appreciated also epg's I got a klom had it for years still ok but I got the master epg to from a company in Scotland but it came from Aldridges only cost £228 I'm sure Aldridge won't deal with me till I'm up and running they won't even send out catalogues till I've done training but I'm sure my trainer helps with intros to suppliers etc which is good but thanks again for your knowledge re gearboxes etc 👍

Roy thanks very much see the difference between his in England and trying to speak to guys in Scotland not very welcoming or it's like oh no another guy as in competition tried speaking to a few guys from Glasgow but they are very dismissive but if I speak to any English people more than welcoming but I appreciate the comment and I started a you tube channel too my vids are very shoddy to say the least channel is called Holmlea locksmith services which will also be my company name when it's up and running got 9 vids up and I'll check out your channel too Roy 👍

Awesome info as always Derek, I wonder why the sizes aren't properly standardised. There's not a huge amount of variation as you explained but enough for there not to be a good standard. Hard to explain but I think you get my drift.

Thanks for watching Roy. The older upvc doors tended to be thinner so used a smaller backset, then as the door manufacturers used different thicknesses came in the large backsets. Over the years different door manufacturers used different lock manufacturers but as updates came in they changed. The main problem is the full profile of a multipoin lock as different manufacturers use different profiles eg 4 roller, 2 hook 2 roller, 4 hook, 2 deadbolt and all may have differing positions of the hook boxes.
