Good idea. When I was 15 and had been building for 5 yrs, my father and I built the Revell Cutty Sark with every line of standing and running rigging. We both learned from each other and gained respect for each other too. That was in 1959 and I still have that ship in a case I made for it in wood shop in middle school later. I have never ever regretted time and money spent modeling.
Thanks for your channel.
Great show Ben, you speak very well and with interesting and informative topics. Your right, it should be fun
I really enjoyed the infomation. More would be good. Was relaxing just listening to you talk about how you got in to modeling. Thaks Ben.
Great talk . Love it👍
Very enjoyable and I look forward to the next one!
Great video, a very good idea, thanks for sharing Ben.
Yes,l agree,it's A HOBBY,no sense stressing,no matter your skill set.l know from building models for some 30 years on and off,,,l know my skill set,l can't build WHT ya see in these videos, but l enjoy the hobby and do the best l can
Enjoyed this a lot. It really hit home. Please keep them coming.
Really good reflections here Ben. I think you are spot on with "if you don't enjoy or relax with it, move on or take a break". I sometimes get to the point where it feels like it is more work than enjoyment, or I get disappointed that I didn't do better. At that point I just leave it for a week or a month even, and only go back when I get the "mojo" back. Quite often that has actually been after I have watched your videos. So thank you for that!
Hi ben. For me keep going with it. You havve been helping me with my missouri build when i haveemailedu.
Enjoyed this video format. I could carry on building and just listen :)
Thanks for the Memories', my first kit was a Revel Mirage 2000 1/48 scale, hand painted I was around 10-11
Enjoyed this Ben, and I enjoy your narration of all your videos
Keep'em comming, I like something that can run while I do something else ( I still pay attention. )
Great stuff Ben! I look forward to all of your content.
Great video! I would definitely love more videos like this. Anything you would like to talk about will be fine.
Am I the only one who really likes the outro music? I find myself looking forward to it while enjoying the rest of the vid.
I like it a lot, too! It has a lot of deep personal meaning for me.
Enjoyed it. Thank you Ben.
More of this please!!
Ben, Yes I like this format, thanks for sharing you thoughts.
What a great idea Ben👍
I struggle with PE and I’d love too see some of techniques you use, cutting them, handling them and most importantly not destroying them. Maybe I’m just clumsy, but some tips would be good.
Very interesting. Thanks.
Great video keep them coming
Great chat Ben! Will enjoy this series.
I really enjoyed it. I watch a couple of modeler UA-cam channels. I like the ones that explain what's going on. Not just the ones of here. Watch me do it.
I enjoyed it, was interesting. thanks.
Keep up the great work.. Love the info .
Sounds like how I got started, except my dad was also the engineer 😉. After that I figured out I liked writing code as it was just another way of building stuff, so I am an IT guy.
I fully understand the difficulty in keeping up with the Build, Videos, Social Posting, Website, etc. We have similar stories but keep up the good work Ben.
Excellent video Ben. A question I’d pose for a future video of this type is to talk about the amount of research you put in for each build. Thanks, Dave
Ben, Enjoyed your chat. I too would like to hear your thoughts on what you do when you are stuck, looking for the next project. Best regards!
I like this chat idea.
Great video…😊😊👍🏻
Love the video Ben. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for doing this, Ben. This should be fun, relaxing, and a departure of anything resembling "WORK". Keep 'em coming, please.
Keep it up. I am a 63 yo beginner and following your vids on Arizona while trying to build it.
Just came across this by accident, and I'm sitting here in the in same T-shirt!
Please keep these coming, a nice way to reflect on the process while improving and enjoying it.
Thanks!
Great shop talk video!
Great video. Always enjoy hearing how other modelers build. 👍
Ben, this was so cool. We'd messaged about the "one thing" concept before, but I didn't fully get the entire idea until this video. Love how you put it. Adding more and more skills to your toolbox is what allows folks to produce beautiful models. Please do more of this series. :)
I like the idea of this video format. A simple off the cuff style. If I may make a suggestion, how about a short (30 - 60 sec.) tips and tricks spot in each Shop Talk episode. For instance, care and storage of brushes, Masking, paint mixing/thinning, type and use of various glues. You could also add a spot where you take one of your older models and tell us if there was anything you would do differently. love all of your videos. Great modeling.
Take care,
Steve
Great talk. Reminds me of my builds as a kid. Was very proud of my Star Trek Enterprise bridge.
Great video, promises to be a very interesting new series on what’s happening in the industry, what the trends are, and how to share best practices and ideas….
Ben, an enjoyable chat. Looking forward to the next one. How about 'what do you do when you hit a brick wall, and you are the type who will not give up'? I think there are quite a few builders who are like that, me included! Enjoy the weekend.
Definitely a great series and I would encourage more. Great point on the hobby being fun but even in fun model Builders tend to be perfectionists like myself.
Nice shirt !👍 Have a nice weekend. 👍
I love these
Thanks! I know it’s been a while. I may try and knock another one out soon.
@@TheMidwestModelShop that would be awesome Ben but I also know your very busy like most of us. So when ever you would be nice. I have a feeling that majority of us miss these. And hope to see ur wife build another kit I think she caught the big like the rest of us lol you're still one of the major modeling channels I watch and still love.
Love chats like this. Keep it up!
What's the one thing you want to get right on your Titanic kit?
Good idea for a series and looking forward to hearing future topics.
I get bogged down in all the details on my kits and keeps me from building more than I know I could because I self paralyze
Great video-I hope you continue this! Question-when is your wife going to finish the Bat Mobile?
It’s on the “to-do” list. But that’s a good question.
Ps do more videos sorry the dremel is on full speed and I cant stop it
What is the best way to install the gun mounts on the port side by the second stack on the USS Iowa 1/200?
One thing I've wondered about Ben; are you running an actual retail outlet, called the Midwest Model Shop? Is it more of a channel name, or just what you call your hobby room? It makes absolutely no difference, just curious.😁
It’s just the name of the channel/hobby room 😉
@@TheMidwestModelShop Haha, thanks pretty much what I thought. When I first found the channel, I thought you guys had a model shop but, since then, you've often mentioned working away from home, so it sounds like you've got a "proper job".😁
Your lucky you had the support from your family with the hobby - in my twenties built a helicopter/airfield diorama in a glass top coffee table gave it to my father for Xmas he had it in the family room for couple weeks then he ripped it apart dumped the coffee table gave the models to my kid brother who destroyed them months later he said I should stop playing with toys and grow up - I'm in my 60's now got back into the hobby last couple years - my old man in his 80's now so don't show him what I've been building or talk about the hobby with him whatsoever
That’s a bummer. I would build him another coffee table and just leave it on his front porch.
Great video. Always enjoy hearing how other modelers build. 👍
