    I really enjoyed this video. I happen to have indigo and Quinn gold and like them both. The low clouds in indigo and gold look like the land and water going off in the distance and really gives it depth. It seems to remind me of a swampy area on the shore of the Great lake Huron where my husband and I went night fishing for monster pike fish. It was May and there was a hatch of May flies under a full moon. We didn't get any fish but a monster pike did surface under that full moon surrounded by May flies. That was over 50 years ago and I can still see it in my mind. Thanks for the memory.

      @@AndrewBroussardWatercolors I believe that is what a successful work of art is....it reaches the observer on a deep level. The more a person observes the work of art the more the reaction. A person can sit and observe a piece like this one indefinitely.

    Thanks for the "Pro Art" Brand Hake shout out. The Mandalay ones I'm using seem way too soft, shed like crazy so have "retired" them officially. I didn't toss them finding a zillion other uses i.e. Clean my Computer keys; swish away eraser nibs; dust out my BlackWIng Sharpener. I'm hoping for a good ending to this Cinderella journey & finally find the right fit. thanks again.

    Clearly I use WAY too much water when I pre wet my paper now carefully watching you apply. I can't seem to get the proportions right on all the different types of paper I use. I went to your Ron Ranson shout out & watched the Master (wow thank you!!). There, I found a link on YT called "Beginner watercolor with the Hake Water control". Very helpful. He gave similar tips re: Hake Brands & recommended the Pro Art Ron Ranson specifically & why. He also gave Lois Davidson a shout out to watch her video on "water control". I am anxious to try your Tutorial so might try AGAIN my retired Hake until replaced. thanks for all the Tips & Shout Outs you continue to offer. They are truly helpful & I gain so much each time I watch your Tutorials. (I actually need a Notepad!) :) Happy Sunday.

      Yup. Watercolor is weird in the beginning. It just takes practice..and then we all sort of discover different ways of handling it. Lately i just hold the paper towel and squeeze out excess at times lol

    Really like this one. Hope I have those colours to give it a whirl. Maybe can substitute something if not, always figure it is worth a try!!! I have paint from when I painted years ago that is so old that the tubes are rock hard. I slice um open with a razor blade and got at it. I have bought new paint though to keep my fingers.

    • @AndrewBroussardWatercolors

      Thanks! I tried the same thing, slicing the tubes open. The metal tube is quite sharp though! What brand are you using now?

      I have a bit of everything, but ordered some new tubes of Winsor Newton. Easy to fall down that rabbit hole.

      Thank you! and no, i try to use 100% pure cotton watercolor paper. I use the head of the brush to flatten the paper when it buckles from water absorbtion :)

    Thanks! I ordered a couple of the hake brushes. The large and medium. What size do you use in these videos? I did one of your other tutorials using a house painting brush and worked ok. Helped to keep me loose at least. I’m really enjoying these!

    Sorry - what paper are you using? Cotton or wood pulp?

      I mainly use stonehenge aqua 100% cotton. Im not sure what I had used in this video. (Ill randomly use bockingford at times)

    Andrew - Is there a way to make a ONE TIME Donation? I looked on the Patreon link but Subscriptions only it seems? I'd rather pay at once a Year's amount vs. having a zillion little debits on my Bank Statements? Is this possible? Thank you again. Kindly, Justine NY

    Is that quin gold authentic?? Can you still get the real thing?

      No. Unfortunately from what I hear authentic quin gold is not available

    • @STAR-RADIANCE
      @STAR-RADIANCE 3 роки тому +1

      Andrew Broussard Watercolors one more thing, you said that the quin you are using is beautiful. Do you think that “new” quin is good enough to call it “quin gold”? I was wondering because I’m just starting water color painting and I need an excellent yellow/gold to work with. Thanks for your replies.

    • @AndrewBroussardWatercolors
      @AndrewBroussardWatercolors  3 роки тому +1

      Yup its definitely beautiful, though i dont have it on my normal palette. I think it is good enough to use, however I never played with the real thing. (I think it was daniel smith brand who had the real thing but it was off the market before I started watercoloring)
      I would start with a basic collection of colors and add onto it (everyone always says use less colors, but we are all guilty of buying more) so dont worry, itll end up in your collection regardless :P

      Also, if youre looking into yellow gold, you may want to look in van gogh brand lineup. They have bronze, brass, gold etc.
      You may even want to experiment with mixing raw sienna and lemon yellow.
