I spent 60 years of my life in SoCal near San Diego. I rode the desert in Ocotillo Wells and the Glamis Sand Dunes until 1976 when I bought a vacation home on the lower Colorado River and enjoyed (?) 25 years there. That heat is why I now live in Gold Beach, Oregon and ride the PNW. Love your videos. Ride safe my friend.
I'm obsessed with Gold Beach and Brookings almost purchased! So beautiful and great Temps year round!
@@MotoCocoTV TX. It's the only place in my 69 years that has given me inner peace.
I’m with you man, the heat just saps you.
I spent 40 years in a desert climate….I’m done!! We retired and moved to Wyoming. Haven’t seen a day over 92 all summer. We love it!
@@MotoCocoTV We live in Rogue River and LOVE visiting Brookings. My father lived there in his final years. Great place aside from the lack of good medical. You need to get medevacked out on helicopter if you have an emergency.
Just finished third time reading your book. I highly recommend everyone get it as it not only explains everything related to camping off your bike, it has super helpful tips and checklists. Of course I’m binging this stuff in anticipation of my 7,000 mile cross country motorcycle camping trip from FL to Montana with several legs of various state’s BDRs in a few weeks. Thanks Tim for such helpful content for a newb like me! How was the MSR jacket in the heat?
Awesome, thank you! Have an awesome trip, that should be a great ride. I love the BDRs. The jacket is great when I’m moving, the vents work well.
I can't believe you took me there. For 15 years I flew out of Scottsdale airport and very often coming in over that I would say, one of these days I'm going to ride up there, and never did. Thank you for taking me there. Nice view of Horseshoe Lake too. Can't thank you enough. Don't ya love UA-cam. You never know who you are going to touch or where in the world they are. Again, Thank You.
Thank you for that! Glad you enjoyed this video
Love what you do for the motorcycling community Tim!
Thank you my friend! I appreciate it 🙂
Tim, tent fans are a real blessing in extreme heat but...camping when it's that hot is no fun to me! Glad you made it though!
They really are! Thank you
We hadn’t watched your videos for a bit so we binged on them tonight! Binge might be too big of a word for it! Again, loved your ride. And also the Blizzard stop! We are fans! Take care and stay safe.
Welcome back!
I always camp next to water in summer so I can wash off and cool down. Wet wipes are no substitute for a good swim!!!!
Great tip!
I knew that DQ as soon as I saw it. I dont know the name of that mountain either, I just call it the radar tower. I have been there at least 20 to 30 times. That route is my go to for a quick little ride. Keep the content coming.
Very cool! Glad you enjoy going out that way too.
Yes!!! It's a good day when my fellow AZ'er puts another out, I've heard of Seven Springs road, just haven't been there yet thanks for the motivation brother, I haven't been camping since the really warm weather has hit, appreciate you as always 🤘
Thank you! You should go check it out when it cools down a bit. Really good riding in that area.
Thanks for putting the Celsius! 😅
Of course!
The contrast between the desert foliage to the really green area was cool. Thanks for letting me see a place I'll probably never get to see in this lifetime. Beautiful view.
Thanks for watching!
Looked like a pleasant warm night.. been there several times, always a great view from Humboldt Mt. Lookout.. For a similar but more remote experience, take FR24 (Seven springs rd) another 25ish miles, turn right onto FR269 (Bloody Basin rd) in a couple miles is Tangle Ck, similar to 7 sprngs, but a lot further out, however is primitive-not developed (no tables, vault toilets etc)... also, go another 12ish miles to Sheep Bridge.. very cool place.. you could turn left at the junction of 24/269 go about 28 miles and get to I-17 just a bit south of Cordes Junction (turnoff to Prescott).. in the fall would be perfect..
Great video Tim
Thanks so much ❤
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks, your videos are always an inspiration.
Glad you like them!
I'm Canadian. It's hard wired into us to wear a lid. When I was in New Mexico a couple of years ago it landed for me that heat stroke was a far more clear and present danger for me than head injury from falling off the bike was for the many bandana wearing riders I passed.
Scary thing about heat stroke and heat related events is that once you notice the symptoms, it’s too late. Your in trouble. Ride safe
Gotta say I’ll take 115 in AZ over 105 in Houston any day. At least in the dry heat you are reasonably comfortable until you keel over. In the humidity you are just miserable until you keel over. 😉 I was wrenching on the bike here in H-town last weekend and literally had sweat puddles overflowing from my flip flops, where it was collecting after running down my body. Talk about godawful! 🙄 Thanks for another great video. Drink lots of water, and make sure to keep your electrolytes up, too! Cramping up on the bike is no bueno!😃
the overlook is called the "Humboldt Mountain FAA Radar Facility" , off E State hwy 562 from Seven Springs Rd.
Thank you!
Great trip video Tim! Thanks for posting it. Weather similar to here in El Paso but more scenic where you went! The desert has a way of growing on you I have found.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Looking good, Tim. Thanks for another great video. I don't think people appreciate enough how much effort and thought it takes to set up shots for things like ride bys when you are solo - setting up the camera equipment, going back, sometimes multiple takes... and all while fully geared up in that heat. Nice work.
Thank you! Glad the effort is noticed, especially running back and forth in the heat!
Too hot for my blood! I can't camp in that kind of heat, so my hats off to ya!
It was a little rough tbh
I'm always impressed with the time and effort you exert to capture the views of you passing through areas - knowing you had to set up your cameras , go back on the trail, turn around and return again to retrieve your camera. The shot of you arriving at your campsite was perfect. Thanks for sharing your journey! Is this in AZ?
Thank you, so glad to hear my effort is noticed. Yes, this was Arizona.
Tim- Thanks for taking us along! Felt pretty cool to me. 🙂 Ride On! -Rob
Thanks Rob!
NICE TRIP THANKS 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
I'm heading out to Seven Springs early tomorrow morning to go hike. It's a great area. Your lookout is Humboldt Mountain. I've been up it a couple of times. Thanks for another fine video.
Have fun! Thanks for the name of that lookout
WOW the only time i have seen hot weather like that was when we got the heat dome 2 years ago 122 degrees up here in BC canada . Beautiful area thanks for the great vid !
Oh wow!
Always enjoy your relaxed, down to earth videos, ride safe Tim...
Thank you, glad to hear it. Ride safe
0:08 thanks for the C :D
Of course
I bet those lakes looked good in a hundred degree heat. Beautiful country. Thanks for taking us with you Tim
You bet!
Enjoyed the video Tim. Very nice scenery I know the heat is tough to deal with. RIDE SAFE OUT THERE!
Thanks, you too!
So glad you posted this. Man, those are tough conditions. The desert is beautiful, and I know a lot of people disagree with that, but it’s so unique and different from anything else; how can it not be beautiful? I personally don’t like camping when it’s that hot at night, but I enjoyed watching you do it! 😂 Glad to see you’re doing well.
Edit: And good riding technique when you were crossing the paved water crossings. Many people crash on those because they don’t slow down and ensure there is complete balance between the front and rear wheels, so even if it’s ice, the bike will make it snd you won’t have the front wash out of the rear come out from under you when you use the throttle. Often it is like ice and unless you’re perfectly balanced all the way through you’ll crash. Not telling you obviously, but just commenting for some new riders who may be watching.
Thank you so glad you enjoyed this one! You’re absolutely right those water crossings are treacherous like riding on a sheet of ice.
Campsite looked so hot I could almost feel the heat radiating off the screen! I did that once a couple years ago in Bishop in July where I think it was in the 90s through the night. DIdn't bother setting up the tent, setup the foldable cot straight on the pinic table.
have a blast brother!!!!!!!
Thank you!
Keep going north to Aqua Fria. It's a great ride and a cool change in elevation.
I love that ride!
Beautiful views Tim! Thx!
Glad you enjoyed it
Love that ride. May need to take the Tiger out on it tomorrow! Thank you for the videos.
Have fun!
i love riding the highway. i dont do well in the heat though lol. i have to enjoy ur trip vicariously. thank you for sharing the beauty of the desert i have driven through about 20 times. waves of love, my friend.
Thank you too
good on ya for braving that heat. A fan makes a big difference for sure. Nice twisty road up to that view point. I think i'd be heading for that lake in the distance for the rest of the day! Cheers!
Thank you! Yeah that road is great. Bartlett Lake is always a good spot for a swim!
Thank you Tim, that heat is no joke really nice video keep it up sir I'm enjoying it all.
Glad you enjoy it!
Beautiful overlook. Interesting to see that giant antennae right above a fire lookout. Neat place.
It sure is
Looks like a Long Range Radar, used by FAA.
Might be
yep, used for Sky Harbor
I work at the one in MI that tracked Flight 93 that crashed in Shanksville. PA on 9/11
Looks stunning Tim. Sure do hope to make it there at some point.
You should!
Thanks for taking us with you :) Check for a lav mic to use when vlogging, it might help with better audio. Sorry for bad English
Thank you, I will
Nice cruisey episode.... and music
Thanks glad you enjoyed it
As a hiker in the Southeast where it's hot AF, I would never wear jeans. Quick-dry nylon fabric and freeball it. Electrolyte drinks, not water. For cycling gear, you'd need a lot of mesh and chaps you could take off I guess.
Whew! 🥵 Hot! I used to do some seasonal outdoor work in Yuma and it’d get around 107-110 deg F. But we had an air conditioned hotel at the end of the day! Dry heat does make a difference, and lots of hydration was in order. I did find that more tolerable than the heat & humidity we get in FL, though. Nice scenery on your ride there.
I’m north of you, up in Prescott Valley. Moved from Wyoming back in March. Need to get down on some of the roads you ride when the weather cools some. Take care.
Hopefully it starts cooling off down here and you can come check out some of this area
Hi Tim, thanks for the cool tour. Google earth says that is Humbolt Mountain lookout. Keep making nice riding and camping videos. I appreciate your efforts. VZ
Thanks for the info! Glad you enjoyed the video
Ok 👏🎉👍
Awesome video Tim.Thanks for sharing your journey.
Are there times when you're riding you say to yourself I wish I was on my GS?
Sometimes yeah but the Triumph is awesome too!
Nice Radome
Radar dome
FAA radar
I wonder if it is one of the early-warning radar domes (to detect long range incoming missile launches) built during the cold war
Fun! Not sure about camping in that heat 😮
It was a little hot but worth it
Nice video
Thanks
Way to not let the heat keep you down Tim
Thanks!
i noticed the new bike you perfer that over the GS1200? assuming it's alot lighter i been watching you sens you started was Hoping to catch you in California when you did you National park trip
The GS was worn out so I traded it in. I love the Triumph and it probably comes in a close second to the GS. But I wanted to try something different and I’m really enjoying it!
What kind off miles are you going to get out of your chain and sprockets?
You sir are a better man than I! No way I am camping in 90+ heat fan or no!
Lol thanks! You get used to it living in AZ but it is an adjustment for sure
@@FTAAdventures I live in southern Louisiana. Heat and humidity are painfully familiar. I suppose 90 with no humidity isn’t all that bad. Planning my trip into Canada for next July.
Hammock works way better than a tent in hot weather.
That is very true!
Great video Tim. Did I miss something? Is that a new bike or am I just not paying attention?
Traded the BMW in for a triumph tiger about a year ago. Beemer was worn out.
Great video and yes those temperatures can be brutal especially on a bike. I know I've been in the same situatuation here in Australia. BTW how are you finding the Triumph. I have the Tiger 800 , no complaints here. Stay safe and hydrated.
Thank you! I’m loving the triumph it’s such a great bike!
@@FTAAdventures When did you swtich to Triumph! I must have missed that
Hey Tim, Thanks for another good video. What is your favorite waterproof Jacket? You used to wear a Mosko jacket. Why don’t us use that one any longer? Thanks bro.
Its a great jacket (Mosko) but I wanted something with integrated armor. No I use the MSR Xplorer jacket and am very happy with it. Here is my review of the new jacket: ua-cam.com/video/M62M1qdpSQA/v-deo.htmlsi=lvegSShAuP3Ezsm1
Nice scenery, but I think I can actually see the heat 😂
Yeah it was a little rough lol
Like your video's, Wondering what helmet you're wearing?
Shoei hornet 2
Tim are you still happy with the Tiger would you recommend over the GS
It depends, I am very happy with the tiger but it's hard to compare it to the BMW, they are different, I think it depends on intended use and budget. The tiger is doing a stellar job so far.
What kind of miles are going to get out of your chain and sprockets?
Hopefully 40,000 miles or so
@@FTAAdventures holy cow, didn’t think that was even possible.
Are you getting a sheepskin seat cover for this bike?
Maybe
And I broke my clavicle and cant ride for a whole year, all I can do is watch your videos
Sorry to hear that!
😢
How would you know where to look? That is too much view!
I agree!
Always remember too much water is just as bad or even worse than too little water. As a very loose approximation, a normal human can process about 1 litre of water per hour according to Dr. Eugene Vortsman from Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Yes, you need to keep hydrated but, as with all things, it must be done correctly. Men should be drinking 3.5 liters of water per day, stressing that steady hydration, not chugging large quantities all at once, is the key to safety.
Thanks for the tips!
You are pushing too many ads for my liking. I'm a devoted follower and a big fan but I'm watching less lately. Completely intended as consctructive. 🤗
Thanks for the heads up, YT decides how many ads to run on my videos, I just choose whether to have ads or not but I'll look into that, maybe theres something I missed.
