    Thank you for all your rat videos over the years. I turned to your videos in 2018 or 2019 when I got my first boys in late 2018 and found them so helpful (you, Shadow the Rat, and Isamu Rats). I still have my boys but have developed allergies to them as well, and don't know how long I'll be able to keep them.

    I totally relate to the haunting of an empty cage! I always try to pack things up ASAP and get ready for a new creature because it's very sad to see it so quiet, no scurrying or gnawing lol.
    I really appreciate you taking us through your journey right til the end. I think it's so important to talk about the fact that owning pets is not static! A person may change the pets they have for so many reasons, but the important thing is taking responsibility for the animals' well-being. Whether that's seeing them through until they pass, or responsible rehoming. Definitely an under discussed topic! Not the most fun thing to make videos about, but necessary.
    So excited to see your new direction, and for more chinny content of course!❤

    I started watching you over 6 years ago I think. At the time I really wanted to get rats one day, over the years I decided it probably wasn't the best option for me because of the frequent grief and health issues, but I still love them so much. Thank you for sharing your journey keeping rats all these years

    Rehoming my last rat, who became alone all of a sudden out of 3, was the hardest thing I ever did. But as a single mom whonwas going back to college and was broke, I knew it was for the best. She was already almost 2 years old, but still very spunky and active. Luckily I came across a married couple who had 2 other senior rats and was looking for another older girl and our rats got along great. So I was peace at mind and even had the couple on fb.

    I hated to admit it, but I was relieved when I brought my last two gerbils back to their breader. It felt like a chore in the end and not pleasure anymore. I also got the last two so may oldest wouldn't be alone knowing I would give them up so I didn't let myself get to close.

    I have mice, and you have helped my project in giving them a house. I made a wheel for them and it's smaller than you have said because of the tail not having room for their tails. So the wheel is only a bit more than 7" and it's true.
    But as an interesting thing. The males didn't want to use the wheel I think because of the size. When I gave the wheel to the female cage, one of the mice used it after about a day, and I was curious to see when she did, to see what was going on. Her tail definitely not in the wheel - but she simply runs on the wheel with her tail sticking out the side of the wheel!!
    I'm going to make a larger wheel for them, though. It's going to be about 10-11" and that's about the largest that will fit there. I should have it done soon, I make them from cardboard.
    I take them out and keep them in my pocket. Because that started before they learned to control their potty movements, I made a pocket "protector" liner out of some patchwork material and sewing popsicle sticks into the sleeve on one side gives it a wedge that slides into my pocket, with a pouch that hangs over my pocket. They've learned to use it and climb into it by themselves sometimes. I put treats into it too.
    I hope you do well without your rats and I don't think that rats are as easy to keep as mice. I watched a few of your mice videos and they've helped me with my more aggressive mice.
    Thanks for the content.
    Keep up the good work.

Every one of them were pups or barely eyes open when I adopted. He is my love, but will not accept even young females. It's ok. I hate you are going thru this.

    • @ashleyhayward2319
      @ashleyhayward2319 2 місяці тому

      Sounds like it's myco tbh, sometimes this is chronic. There are very few strains of rats who don't have this as its passed from mother to kitten in the birth canal. I don't see why they wouldn't be able to be rehomed. If for whatever reason they couldn't be then I would consider having them put to sleep at the same time so neither has to be alone.

    People who hate rats need to also at least understand that pet rats are people’s beloved pets, in the same way as someone might love a rabbit, a hamster or guinea pigs, or perhaps even dogs and cats. I think they also need to understand that, no matter how much they may hate rats/mice, rats/mice, whether wild or domesticated, are still sentient beings with as much right to live as they have. If you hate a certain animal/s, fine, but just cause you don’t like them doesn’t mean you should harm or kill them, or that they don’t have a right to live…

      No there isn’t a way to control how many babies are born. I’d really consider not breeding your rats if it’s something you’re thinking of doing as a lot of things can go wrong if you aren’t prepared and don’t know the genetics of your rats 😟

      @Emiology  2 місяці тому

      I’ve owned mice for 7 years, how is that giving up rats to own mice when I’ve had them this whole time 😂 I’d rather not have subscribers that don’t understand the importance of making sure rats have continued social company and aren’t just left to die alone

    • @mentally_illest_radio
      @mentally_illest_radio 2 місяці тому

      so its either leave them to die alone in your care (even though theyd still have each other) or give them away? Theres no third option of just taking care of them along with your other pets till they die? whatever. you quit rats. rats are supposed to be for life. Pshh...

    • @Emiology
      @Emiology  2 місяці тому

      Yes, as i've explained many times on my channel it is not ethical for rats to live alone. When you are down to your last two rats one could die months or even a year before the other one, which is cruel. Rats cannot be 'for life' when you become allergic to them, please don't be childish about other peoples decisions.

    • @mentally_illest_radio
      @mentally_illest_radio 2 місяці тому

      you're allergic to rats but not any of the other animals? Okay fine sure. In that case i guess thats a solid reason... okay fine i pre judged too hastily. im sorry. That sucks i would be heartbroken if i was suddenly allergic to rats. I reacted emotionally and i was wrong. my bad.

    Fake influencer. I'm also allergic to rats, adore them, am NOT a famous influencer with a weird wig with bangs designed to cover my low forehead, and cared for my girls until the day they died, rubbing my face into their fur to comfort them [they'd softly brux when I did this, even though they were ill], even though I was allergic. (P.S. I did this in my living room, which had not been converted into an influencer video studio.)

    • @Emiology
      @Emiology  19 днів тому +1

      So did you allow your rats to become single / lone rats when one inevitably died before the other? Because that’s neglect.

  • @squirrelvert
    @squirrelvert 19 днів тому

    You clearly don't love them ----- this will be very traumatic for rats, who are very neophobic with new people. Influencer who cares more about her wig / bangs than her pets.

    • @Emiology
      @Emiology  19 днів тому +1

      No signs of trauma in them so far, they’re having a great time with their new humans and rat friends ✌🏼 absolutely thriving
