Just got this game last night for Xmas and played a couple rounds. We played it almost right, but this video has taught me what we did wrong and what to correct for next time we play. Cool game too.
Question. On opening play if player one end his train with a double can player 2 lay down his train or does he has to satisfy the double from player one first and then can they lay down their train?
This is a modified version of Mexican Train. The way it starts can make it quicker at the beginning. Puremco has the official rules from what I've been reading on the history of the game. However you may need to read the rules more than once to fully understand them. When playing doubles not satisfied the players train/maker is put up, the next player must do the same. And so on until satisfied.
when you "satisfy a double" does that end your turn, or if you can satisfy the double, do you get to lay down an additional domino? for example, player 1 plays an open double, player 2 can satisfy the double, does that end player 2s turn? or does player 2 satisfy that double, then continue with another domino? or does satisfying the double end player 2s turn?
The rules that came with my set say this: "If a player plays a double, the double must then immediately play another domino from his hand onto the double, thus satisfying the double, or onto any public train. If the player is unable to play another domino, he must draw from the boneyard and play that domino onto the double or to any public train. If he is unable to do so he must mark his train public. If the player draws a 2nd double and is able to play it, he must draw another domino from the boneyard and play that as well. This repeats if the player continues to draw playable doubles, until the player has drawn and played a non-double, or fails to play a drawn tile. If he fails to play a drawn tile in the end, he must mark his train public. If the player finishes his turn without satisfying the double, the following player has the OBLIGATION to satisfy that double. If that player is unable to satisfy the double from his hand, he must draw from the boneyard and satisfy the double with that domino. If he is unable to, the player marks his own train public and then the obligation to satisfy the double continues on the following players, according to the same rules. If more than one double needs to be satisfied, then they need to be satisfied in the order that they appeared into play.
What is the count value of a double blank? If a double is played and no one covers it do the players continue to draw until one is drawn? Do you have to announce it when you are down to your last tile? If you play a double and that gives you another move, can you place another tile anywhere legal? If you can't play on your public train, can you place a tile anywhere else legal so you don't have to draw? If you do, does your train remain public?
I have the same comment/question as katiel4328. Question. On opening play if player one end his train with a double can player 2 lay down his train or does he has to satisfy the double from player one first and then can they lay down their train?
We played 4 players, and you start with 7 dominoes, but if nobody has the double, you continue to draw from boneyard. Sometimes we’d play with just 7 (or 6 if you had the starter), and other times we’d start with 20. 😊
In the variation that we play, you can play as many pieces as you are able when you are first starting your own train or starting the Mexican train. So starting your train after a few rounds can really help if you have set up a good string of plays.
Also, some people play first round you can lay down any "complete" train you have from your initial draw? This help speed up game, but takes the frustration of having to ruin your train because someone has laid down a double and you have to cover, hahaha.
Do you have a link where to buy the Domino set in your video? I really like it. Have never played this type of Domino, and I'm Mexican, lol. Never heard of it in my whole life. Looks fun!
So the "official middle piece" that is supplied has a locomotion whistle sound to it (well mine does anyway). So when do you sound the train whistle?? When your train becomes open, when you start a "Mexican Train," or when you manage to "close" your line again??
Oh yeah! I forgot that thing made a sound... According to a random website, you press the button when a player lays their last domino and the round is over. Of course if your family is like mine, you press the button whenever you darn well please until the battery dies or dad gets so fed up with it that he takes it out! Good question!
We play where you tap your domino if you only have one left (like uno) you could hit the whistle instead. If you don't tap and get caught you draw more bones!
So if you are satisfying the double on someone else’s train do you get to play a domino on your own train in the same turn? If not do you have to open your train?
Hey! Nice video..just needing a clarification If you have to pick up a tile in your first round you are allowed to put it down if you can start your train. So i can still lay as many tiles following that tile because it’s still my first turn right? Or do you only put that one single tile (even tho you might have tiles to continue) and then you have to continue one by one on your second round?
Someone who never played before watched this video before last night. First time we ever played using your method, and I did not like it. She forgot the part about adding an extra Mexican train for one thing. We’ve played by other people’s rules at times but NO ONE has ever played as many tiles in their own train on the first round. This took longer and also if a double is played that the next person has to satisfy, then that “satisfier” does not get to start their own long train. Hoping she missed something in this video because this took the fun out of it as sometimes way too many pips to add up. Just my 2 cents!
I see that if a player can't start their train they put the "toy train" on the center piece. Does this mean anybody can add a domino there and start my train like they do with the Mexican train?

Thank you! that was the best, the clearest explanation, theeasiest to understand, I have heard.
Best instruction video out of all out there
This is the best explanation and the most time conscious I have watched. Thanks!

I've watched at least 10 videos on how to play and every single one of them has different rules.

Where on my train can I put a domino? ONLY at the very end of my last role? My "open end" tile? Or can I play it anywhere on my train?
Only last one
Thank you 😊 i just bought the game and the instructions are hard to understand thank for this video.

So if you can't go round 1 you're completely screwed....
KnightRaymund yes, that’s how we play. It’s infuriating but hilarious. Lol
Actually, just played last night. I was the only one who didn't lay down on the first turn and still won the round.

How do you handle when all the boneyard tiles are drawn? I have played you turn over all the tiles from the trains laid.
Also, some people play first round you can lay down any "complete" train you have from your initial draw? This help speed up game, but takes the frustration of having to ruin your train because someone has laid down a double and you have to cover, hahaha.
How many dominoes can be played off of one double since it has 2 sides? Not the initial double.
So what's the difference between this and dominos?
So, is the Mexican any train that is marked open? I'm going to watch this again
The Mexican train is an extra train that doesn't belong to any of the players, but any player may play on it.
Do you have a link where to buy the Domino set in your video? I really like it. Have never played this type of Domino, and I'm Mexican, lol. Never heard of it in my whole life. Looks fun!
Amazon, or pretty much any store that sells board games.
Just walked out of Target with mine
If player. One ends his train with a double, does player two still get to lay his train down or does he have to satisfy the double?
I'm pretty sure the double has to be satisfied, but after that you can build your train as normal. I could be wrong though.
@@Hogwa5hGaming You can build your train after double is satisfied
So when a player plays a double, everyone playing can’t make a move unless it’s satisfied ? Or just the player that played it has to satisfy it?
@@Kuromi_0fficiali anyone, until it's satisfied
If player one ends his turn with a double in the first round, does player two get to play his train or does the double need to be satisfied
I always played that the double must be satisfied before any other domino can be played anywhere else.
Double needs to be closed first. Always. Either by the player playing, or the next player in line (and then so on).
Wow! congrats on the views on this vid man, well earned :)

Hogwa5h Gaming; Thanks mate, that makes sense. And yes, I can relate to your family... Cheers for now... ;-}
We play where you tap your domino if you only have one left (like uno) you could hit the whistle instead. If you don't tap and get caught you draw more bones!
Must the domino laid down (by the same player) after a double, allways match that double?
Yes. And if that player can't match it then the next player goes and must match it. No one can play on anything else until the double is matched.
@@mikepatrella9210 What if I haven't had the chance to start my train yet? Do I still need to satisfy the double before I can start my train?
@@gerar10s good question

Shauna Anderson What are you say what’s your game plan
If you cant play on your first turn, but you can play on your second turn, can you play as many as you can or do you only have to play one at a time?
If you can't lay down on your first turn then you are stuck laying them down one at a time for the rest of the game. It's pretty harsh.
@@Hogwa5hGaming Correct
I mean how do you count them
This video is narrated by John Mulaney. lol
Thanks for the vid, very helpful!! Keep that train a movin!
What is u have zero?
You win!

Or do you only put that one single tile (even tho you might have tiles to continue) and then you have to continue one by one on your second round?

Right! Keep going on your first turn, for each round, as long as you have matches..

Do you know 74刀's rules?
No
Yeah thats a goofy variation.
So the player played all dominos automatically lost the game? Anyone ?
The person with the lowest score wins. So if you play all your dominoes you would have the score of zero which is the best possible score.
We never continue laying dominoes unless we laid a double. I have never read about continuing a play without first laying down a double.
On my first play, can i play on the free train first (instead of starting my train)?
@@sunshine17112 sure can. You play on the Mexican train every time you can, only using tiles you cannot use on your own train.
No brain is required to play this. It's better the classical dominó.
I see that if a player can't start their train they put the "toy train" on the center piece. Does this mean anybody can add a domino there and start my train like they do with the Mexican train?
That's correct.
I’m Mexican and I’m confused. Anyone want a taco?
