But the star of the show is the Friedman Plex, and it sounds better without any delay. On the other hand some noise reduction pedals work better through the FX loop.
Some effects are better before the préamp and others in loop . i use my disto before on a clean chanel of my Bugera 5 w and an equalizer in loop to manage the power and tune shape with accuracy.
All my pedals (if I use any) work well in front of my amps (wah, tape echo, spring reverb, phaser), if I use them in the fx-loop, the final sounds differ. A big difference it also makes, it you have a really good fx loop, which offers adjustable parallel and serial use or only a regular serial one. Any good load box, which converts an amp signal to line level, can be useful, as you the can at least add some effects between the amp-line and the cabIR signal, if placing it in front of the power amp is impossible. Always depends on the results, you are looking for. Every setup is different, so just try and find out....
My amp has an effects loop, but I don’t use it. I just plug in my pedalboard through the input with the amp distorted. Just set the pedal’s mix much lower.
@@1man1guitarletsgo - My delay in front sounds just fine. Old school. It feels like a part of the sound, not like ‘off in the distance.’ Plus less cables to deal with.
@@Burnt_Gerbil In my experience, that's ok if you don't change from a clean sound to overdriven. You set the delay how you like it with no problems. If you set it for the clean channel, however, and then change to the o/d channel, the echo effect can become too loud in the mix. Using the loop stops this happening.
Question on this! I have a 16ohm Two Notes Torpedo Captor, not the X model. My FX Loop on my amp doesnt work and a tech couldnt fix it and I want to run my QC through it and use the power amp. How can this be done with the Two Notes?
The Power Station's FX loop is a series loop as far as I know. That means, that the whole signal coming from the amp goes through it. But since it's not parallel, it will become 100% wet if you put and fully turn up a reverb or anything else in that loop. Long story short, the Power Station's loop is exactly the same as the fx loops in 99.9% of current guitar amps. Cheers //Kris
@@ThomannsGuitarsBasses Thanks for the reply. Not all series loops are created equal in terms of bleed through. When using high gain, many amps will send signal from the preamp to the power amp, even if the loop signal is set to zero. Some exhibit enough bleed that quiet playing with digital effects will give a phasing effect.
Please correct me if I am wrong BUT how can an FX loop sit in front of the power amp may I ask. Does it not sit in front of the preamp and BEFORE the power amp? What you said makes no sense.
Hi, it depends on how you use "in front" and "before". To me (and to those I asked) these mean the same in this case. So the preamp is the first in an amp. Then comes the fx loop and then the power amp. So the loop is in front (=before) the the power amp and the preamp is in front (=before) the fx loop. Those that make sense now? Cheers //Kris

3rd Option: Capture your amp in a modeler. +: You can make multiple presets of your amp you can conveniently switch between. -: you loose access to your amp's controls.
There are more options than this... the Boss Waza TAE and the Palmer Supreme Soaker both have FX loops built in and act as a load box, attenuator, DI to PA etc... I think the way the OX does it is a bit clumsy in comparison to the Boss and Palmer. I get it is the industry standards etc (and probably is for a reason), but I don't think it is the most versatile. You can really have your cake and eat all of it if you look at other options?
Yes, sorry for that. We didn't pay attention to it, since the loudness of both rigs is freely adjustable. I had them set up to a nice and enjoyable volume. Cheers //Kris
The Fryette changed my life. Best piece of gear I purchased in years.
But the star of the show is the Friedman Plex, and it sounds better without any delay. On the other hand some noise reduction pedals work better through the FX loop.
The Fryette Power Station is a gift from heaven, is just perfect, can’t recommended enough. It does more than you think.

If you use four cables, with your delay/chorus pedals in the loop and the overdrives before the amp, it'll sound better.

As a Death metal guitarist and a Harley Benton enjoyer i can say that... My opinion doesn't matter 🗿

If I'm reading your comment correctly... no, you could not. The Captor is after the power amp.
so which di box was used? i've got a older groove tubes direct box, but from past attempts to use it... i don't think it will work like yours.
My vintage Hiwatt loves quality pedals.
Waaaaay before effects loops.
What about effects after the mic?
They would be heard only from PA and monitors but it's an easier solution.
You just need a mic preamp.
I have loops on both my amps but this is super interesting 😎👍
When using a high gain amp with the Fryette Power Station does the Power Station’s FX loop have any dry signal bleed into it?
