Hello there! Thanks for your fantastic question. During my brief stay in Bhutan, I didn't have enough time to fully grasp the language. Unfortunately, Zongkha, the native language of Bhutan, is in a state of decline, to the point where even Google Translate doesn't support it. I do have some knowledge of Nepali, though, as my girlfriend is Nepali. It's worth noting that many Bhutanese people understand at least basic Nepali, so I tried my best to connect with the culture given the limited time I had.
@@JackTorr Just to inform, Nepali is one of the 20 dialects that is spoken in Bhutan 🇧🇹. Nepali language In Bhutan 🇧🇹 we call it Lhotshamkha(southern language). Dzongkha is not in decline, its the national language of Bhutan, and is taught in schools along with English. And the issue of Dzongkha not working in google translate is because we use same alphabet from Tibetan alphabet. So basically Tibetan alphabet is the Dzongkha alphabet.
Hello Jack reply The questions are as follows. I need an answer to this question 1. Why do Bhutanese speak Nepali language? 2. Bhutan's national language is Zongkha, why people there do not speak Zongkha language? Love from usa

2. Yes Bhutan's national language is "Dzongkha" and almost everyone does speak "Dzongkha". 1. The Nepali-speaking Bhutanese that you are meaning to ask, also called Lhotsampas (“People of the south”), are Bhutanese citizens of Nepali origin who moved to Bhutan in the 19th century(not sure EXACTLY). Most of the Bhutanese can speak both Nepali and Dzongkha. and can speak more than one language including Hindi also. And @JackTorr I don't agree that Dzongkha is in the state of decline or of any sort . the thing that it is not translated by google is because it isnt added to the list of languages as it isn't spoken anywhere else outside Bhutan. Thank you For visting Bhutan Hope you had a great time.....
@@yeshidorji-zd5ckcame here to make this same correction, thank you! Dzongkha is not on a decline, it is taught to everyone in Bhutan along with English. Only being in Thimphu, Jack seems to have been more exposed to Nepal natives and Indian visitors than he was to Drukpas, and had a skewed experience of Bhutan. In fact, he even made a video stating there are no iPhones in Bhutan 😂 so much misinformation! Bhutanese people have learned to speak bordering languages (like Nepali and Hindi), their national language Dzongkha, English, and their own local dialects from their home regions (there are about 20 of them) 😊
