Very nice car. When they were new they were one of the nicest cars out there
A genuine love and passion for classics each and everyone of you. Thankyou for all of your videos
Love it, but you can tell its an old boys car as its got wing mirrors on it instead of on the doors, although it has the remains of a mirror on the drivers door. I'd definitely swop it back to door mirrors if i brought it as it doesn't look right.
Most mechanics I knew back then ran these , solid reliable and easy to fix !
My second car age 18 was a mk2 R reg 1600 gl ford capri in roman bronze with a vinyl roof and the same colour interior. It was mint condition I paid £350 in 1982, after that a yellow mk4 cortina 1,6 L
That led on to 5 Xr3i and 3 orion ghia injection then xr4i and xr4x4 and Sierra 2,0s
Like this style of video 👍
Hype it up, she should fly out.
Nice.
I would suggest the owner had a puncture and placed the original spare onto the car and put the used wheel in the boot
I agree.) I noticed that the inside of the rear driver's side wheel appears very clean. At 6:26 )
When are you putting the lots online, nothing on for the October auction.
Go into your server and type it in,comes up👍
That was a real hot rod around London in 1983 🔥
I had 1, use drive the nuts off it 😂🫣
I had a S reg 1600 Ghia, same colour combo. Sold it in 1986 for £600. 🤦🏻♂️
What the heck is the red light thing sticking out the drivers door?
Parking light. Used to get ones that clipped on the door glass top. Were compulsory at one time. HTH
Personally not convinced that car is only 18,000 miles .
Ffs it’s had two different spare wheels on it .
Maybe it's had a new Speedo at some point, as it's nearly a 50 year old car.: however In my opinion i don't feel that it's covered loads of miles though. Maybe more than what is shown on the clock though) I have come across genuine low mileage car's but as time goes by, there getting very very rare" to find. I'd love to know this car's history..
I had a different spare wheel in my Escort years ago, because someone nicked the alloy spare out of the boot and I bought a cheap steel one from a scrappy in case it happened again. 18,000 miles looks quite realistic to me, but you have to remember it's still nearly 50 years old.
@@levelcrossing150 yes I agree with you) If 18000 isn't it's true mileage, I don't think it's covered loads and loads of miles) and yes nearly 50 years old.
@@Mtandy-vm2pt As the lads say, I think Roman Bronze has to be clean and polished up to look it's best. I don't think it's the best colour for looking fresh, especially when it has a light covering of traffic grime on it. My fathers car which was identical to this one, was the same. A brighter, solid colour might have looked more like the mileage in question.
Wow what a car I do like a Cortina.
We’re a similar age Dave and I always agree with your youthful car wants! I really lusted after the mk4 2.0S in silver.
I had a 2.3 didn't know they did 2.
@@andrewjackson194 Yes the very early ones were 2.0's Silviler was the popular color, with the rear panel below the boot being matt black if I recall?
I had a 2.3 V6 Ghia new in 1980, white with a dark brown everflex roof and brown upholstery, could that motor move.
Had a white MK4 with black vinyl roof. Loved it.
I had a 2 litre Ghia identical to this in 1983. Loved it.
It's a very nice car. It reminds me of the one that I had, which was a 2.3 V6 Ghia Automatic. The registration was ESX 143S. It was orange in colour, with a black vinyl roof. Happy days.
Over 7 minutes Dave, you were in your element with this one 😀. Love to see a time warp car, like you say it just needs a gentle restoration. 👍🏻
He can chuck the keys all day on the roof!
It won't hurt the vinyl !...😂
That certainly brings back memories I had a r reg in red with a black vinyl roof 2 litre Ghia mk 4 auto it wasn't as nice as this one but boy did i love that car was only two owners very comfortable cruiser in the end rust underneath was the killer
remember these in the 70s my father used to repair and service these in the family business
Clutch cables made me remember i had a fiat 131 and mechanical wise she was great runner quiet fuel consumption good but was wee 1600 single head engine ,only problem? its ate clutch cables and it was fiat cables as well
bloody hell mk1 capri i used to love those as a kid!
Wow. Now that is a car. The 2000 Cortinas were nice but the Ghia was something else. 18,000 miles looks to be right.
The colour is Roman bronze, and Hooleys were the Ford dealer in Worksop and another in Nottingham iiic.
Watch your program regularly so envious you guys what a job ❤
These were lovely old motor's dave the reps dream motor 😍 ❤
Who the hell put those mirrors on yuk
Look at that vinyl roof.
Prefer the MK3 2000E

Childhood Influences
Last a life time
I driv one in 83 unfortunatly it wasn't mine ' i stole it 🤣 how naughty of me ' but i did get in trouble for this ' unlike the kids today ' they would get a pat on the back now 🤔
They were a lovely car , I had one when I passed my test and got smashed in the side the day after I passed I was gutted but my dad repaired it so I was a happy fella again.
Had a Mk 3 GXL, Mk 4 Ghia and an XR3, loved Fords back then. ♥️ 18,000 miles? 🤔
Is the car bought from Hooleys Nottingham? I had my RS Turbo from that dealer in 1987 I still have it
A lovely old cortina
