We had a sushi guy who would make my eight year old daughter (at the time) special grilled eel sushi. He would order Japanese pear and eel just for her. We would visit him twice a week sometimes. We even invited him over for Christmas dinner. He was just out of nowhere the best. He would make her a whole Japanese meal. Tea. The fruit. Mochi. All of it. We would order platters of shishimi and sushi from him at any chance of celebration.
This went on for years. He was a true friend. One day, we walked in, and he wasn't there. There were two strange ladies behind the counter. We came to find out that he left early one day due to a severe headache. When he didn't come to work, something unheard of for him, police did a wellness check.
He had died that night of appendicitis. We never cried when my dad died, but we all cried that day.
We still think of him all the time. Miss you, Buddy.

😢😢😢Ephesians‬ ‭6:10‭-‬18‬ ‭Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. The bible is no old book. You have to really let Christ open your eyes; to see the world in shambles. Many people say it's a religion to lock up people in chains, and say it's a rule book.. why? Because people hate hearing the truth, it hurts their flesh, it's hurts their pride, it's exposes on what things have they done..people love this world so much, s*x, money, power, women, supercars.. things of this world. Still trying to find something that can fill that emptiness in your heart. You can't find that in this world.. only in Christ, the bible is no chains, it's a chainbreaker. Breaking your sins into pieces... Repent now, and turn back to the true Lord only.. God bless.

Just so everyone who sees this is aware, many eels that are caught in their glass stage are the North American variety, which are currently in decline due to the glass eels being caught near Bermuda before they make it back to the east coast. Currently several east coast states, especially those that hold major rivers that run into the ocean, are holding studies and volunteer work to count the eels numbers. I think it's important to note that for most of history nobody knew where eels came from. It was only in the 1880s that someone found out eels matured from "leptocephali" that were thought to be a different species. All true eels come from only a handful of breeding grounds in deep oceans around the globe.

its probably connected to their unnatural and unhealthy environment. many animals will not breed when kept in captivity without enough room to procatice their lifestyle/activity pattern. theyre kept in a single cell one on top of the other, no rocks to explore or exercise through foraging/hunting/etc. just a big prison cell that way overcrowded and nothing to do but wait for the captors to toss in some food. they are probably all under great stress from day 1 to the day they are killed.

Fishing rights in North America are way too often completely ignored, even by on-topic documentaries and articles. I feel like it’s incorrectly considered not interesting enough unless you’re in the business, although it might just be because it’s complicated. Of course fishing itself is actually a bit of a touchy subject if you get into it.
Even those incredibly popular crabbing shows barely touched on how contentious fishing rights and zoning has become all around N. America.

My favourite eel related fact is that sigmand Freud (yes that one) was tasked to find the male and female of the eels, he couldn't find a male eel in the entire bunch, because as it turns out the males don't grow gonads (balls n dick) until mating season.

They feel the eels? At least they don't steal seals. Eel farming feels surreal, a deal sealed with zeal, where the meal for the eels appeals to their keen sense to heal. With a reel of steel, farmers wheel in meals, ensuring each eel feels the peal of their feed, a reveal that seals their growing appeal. The squeals of delighted eels reel in the field, a cycle that deals in a yield that thrills. Each meal they steal fills their gills, and as the field heals, the farm's appeal seals the deal.

Besides, fish has a lot less fat than other meats like chicken, which is also why a Mediterranean diet is proven to be significantly healthier than others, however, vegetarian and vegan diets are the best for the environment.

God bless.

Not all Japanese eels are expensive. I particularly eat an eel ekiben almost every shinkansen ride I take. Cost about 900 yen, or roughly $6 U.S. for large piece of tail over rice and some tamago as a side. On the other hand I have seen some restaurant eel plates cost upwards of 5000 yen. So it's not a crazy elusive luxury like you make it seem.
