How many kms on your car? Mines at 143k kms, I baby it, and have left the engine untouched, do oil changes every 5k, but I am still concerned about the longevity of the car. Never rlly see gtbs get passed 160-180 without complete engine swaps.
It's at 121k i believe. I know a few GTBs and B4s that's sitting at mid 200k on the stock block. there's also one sitting at 300k+ as a daily on the stock block. Maintenance and luck is honestly all there is to it and not going WOT every minute. There's certain mods you can do to increase the longevity too like oil pickups, hose 10 mod, silicone lines, etc.
If you want to keep your car in good condition continue your oil change every year or 5000 km ( i do 6000 km), if you don't have 100 octane near your place get a tune for your local gas like 98 ( 94 in Canada/US). Only use the second turbo ( 4500 rpm + ) when the car is warm ( 10-15 min ). Let the car run a bit if you drove it hard, especially in the mountain to avoid any oil issue in the turbos. Did my oil change 2 weeks at Drive hard in Vancouver Canada, they told me my engine is in really good condition (180.000 km). I am not burning, losing any oil. There is tons of them with 250.000 km + but the issue is they are cheap/old cars and most of the time their 4-5 owners don't care about the maintenance. They treat their cars like it is a rental car.
Oh ya I do mine every 6 or 7k with pennzoil ultra platinum. My car is actually tuned for 91 octane and I’m still running everything stock basically other than my BOV, Hose 10 mod, silicone lines, etc. I also went through a paranoia phase where I’d wait 5 mins for it to “cool down” after a light 5 min drive haha but yeah I always tell everyone that subies are reliable as long as they’re owned and was previously owned by a reliable owner. They just require maintenance and TLC a bit more than any other car. I say that from the experience I gained from owning my GTB tbh I’m not really sure how true that is but my car starts happily and runs healthy every morning day and night after 2 years of ownership so 🤷♂️
@@GTBmarvel Noice, probably tuned by project lambda/ drivehard, the tuner and the team are amazing. That is the mindset just take it easy when you are 5 min away from home, the issue is cheap mod, bad maintenance and no tune. I had a few Subarus and never any issue engine issue with them, can't say the same with Audi, VW and Skoda lol. The only issue i have with the B4 is the 20 l/ 100 in the city lol, i am not even using the second turbo.
Got the first B4 RSK in Canada, GTB-B4 are so cheap/underrated you have 330 hp for $5000. The chassis is great too, i am on coilover + Falken RT660 and i can keep up with my friend Evo 5. The only issue is rust and parts IMO, i need to find a new exhaust because mine is starting to rust. Otherwise pretty reliable car compared to german shitboxes like the A4 S4 RS4 that are falling apart after 150.000 km
Agreed. That’s awesome I also picked mine up for $5000 but damn you got an RSK 😩. Sometimes I wonder how the forester is more sought after. I personally have always liked the legacy more in terms of looks at least but yes parts are really hard to find and as long as it’s only surface rust I can tolerate it. I have a feeling these cars will get a bump in recognition when they’re all legal in the US tho so maybe that $5000 won’t stick for long
@@GTBmarvel They are so underrated they deserve to be at 10-15 k IMO, they are amazing confortable sleepers with an amazing chassis. Mine is already legal in the US. IMO the B4 RSK looks better than the GTB, but as a mountain biker i wish i had the GTB haha. One mod you should do it is to put REV D headlights, the car looks much better with them. But you need bend a bit the radiator mount and readjust the turn signal cable. I like the foresters too but the legacy looks better and ppl are confuse. Love to troll ppl with it. Parts can be tricky especially for turbo and exhaust but otherwise you can find them.
Hell yeah! Im Rebuilding the engine in my 2009 wrx hatch just bought a factory type RA Short block! and some oil upgrades like a new pickup and tubes!
You sure the boxer is the best sounding 😏🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅
