As a taxidermist for 40 years I seen it all. If every cape came into my shop skinned like this I'd be a very happy guy.
How much neck meat would you want personally. I don’t want to waste any meat if I don’t have too. I got a very big 8 point yesterday and want it mounted as my first mature buck.
Don't leave any meat on it. Its not important. Any taxidermist only wants the hide/skull/antlers. Don't leave meat on it at all
I am a taxidermist myself and I suggest following these exact instructions. Following this process makes it easier for us, resulting in you getting your mount faster. Excellent video, keep it up.
Wow, you ain't kidding, that's a monster buck.
Wow you guys aren’t kidding about that victorinox knife and using it for everything.
Good vid boys! Taxidermist will be pleased
Love your training vids. I process my own Deer at home and I'm always looking for ways to make it Easier and more efficient; but I really appreciate the care you guys take to produce good quality meat....too many amateurs putting out really bad advice on how to process an animal properly. Thx
Deer-the other red meat We appreciate it! Thanks for watching!
Great mature buck bro! Beautiful kill. I really like your hunting ethics on here....well done.

How on God’s green earth do people thumbs down this great content? I know I’m not going to be mounting a Broccoli on my wall!
Right?! Thank you!
Love yals videos my grandfather was a butcher he has passed on I love watching yals videos very educational for me as a hunter and fisher
Love seeing the difrent ways this is done around the country.
Nice job skinning and explaining each step. 30+ years in slaughter house and side job in meat locker on weekends. You made it look easy Seth
I just wanted to say that I love your videos. I have been a chef for the last 17 years across both coasts of the US, working for and running some of the top kitchens in the country. I grew up in WV where hunting and harvesting game was the norm but now I live SoCal where that isn't so easy anymore. I find myself watching your videos for the nostalgia and to keep the information fresh since I haven't been able to do it for a while. Thank you :)
Great video! You are so respectful.
another crazy good video guys, thanks a lot
quite incredible seeing the whole cape like that
That’s one big buck. Good job on the harvest

Well, officially learned that I can't do this.
Beautiful deer! I am really enjoying these vids. My goal is to harvest my deer this year and process it all myself save the hide. These are invaluable when it comes to info.

Now we need a bearded butchers favourite way to eat venison video!
Nice buck though Seth. Awesome harvest
This is how it’s done tube your legs you should never have to cut up the back side of the leg, you should only have to ring cut it, Taxidemist love to see exactly how they did the legs in this video, great job guys!
You guys should make a hunting video of a buck kill ,from the field to the freezer, good video guys,I've been doing my own deer for over 40years and I like your knifes ,from new Brunswick Canada 🇨🇦
Iv watched this video a few times now, mearly to marvel at that beautiful beast of a buck
Love your videos. So do then put the head and cape in the freezer, if you do not have time to take it to the taxidermist. Thanks

That thing is a beast the meat on that guy is crazy!
Nice buck! Thats a lifetime buck for most people. Add a perfectly executed arrow and that's a perfect hunt.
now god is on hunt. be aware now its your tearn killers.
@@rishabhshahi6126 First of all it's "Turn" not "tearn" Second of all, Do you eat meat? If you do then you dont have the right to say shit about someone hunting. And lastly if you are such a god fearing person that is agains eating meat then why in the actual fuck are you on UA-cam watching hunting videos, you imbecile.
@@VikingsFan27 hey killer. sorry i am not one of u. i dont eat meat. i have several good non meat product in my country. which i can buy and eat. not like your underdeveloped and backword place where people hunt and eat. you all seems like livinging in ancient time. i just can't imagine your poorness you killers. and i was here to see the brutalness you all are creating killing inocent animal.
@@VikingsFan27 and if you really want to save youself from god so start living caves life and wear leaves, then hunt .so god may forgive u . eather that day is not far when your mothers and sisters will be hunted for someone's food and some bucks and dear might be commenting prefect hunt folks.
@@rishabhshahi6126and where is your country?
love your work guys pleasure to watch.
I have always wanted the full neck. You lose some meat, but a taxidermist needs that neck measurement near the shoulder as well to get the correct form. Too many skin out the entire neck and send you just the cape and head. Then it’s a guessing game as to what form you need for that neck size that you have no clue what it was. I would have wanted the full neck sent to me, not half of it. Next time you talk to the taxidermist, ask him what measurements he needs to get the correct form, and you will see that you messed up. Many will shrug it off and buy an oversized form and work it down, but it won’t be as nice when completed. As all of the muscle lines in the neck have to now be hand worked.
That's a pretty decent buck congrats !!! Alberta, Canada 👍
Love your videos I have learned so much and am more confident with skinning and cutting my own deer and elk
That is awesome!
Congratulations on a beautiful Ohio buck. I'm from PA but right on the Ohio line. That is going to make a beautiful mount. Thank you for sharing this information. I need to check the video before this to watch how you process the hind legs. That is the only difference between the way I do my skinning. I lIke the thought of having the leg on there for grip on the start.
Another kick but Bearded video !
Big bucks are always the hardest to skin and they are the ones you have to be the most careful with. 😂 nice trophy! That thing is sporting some good mass.
Thank you Seth and Scott! keep up the good work we love y’all tons ! and when I come to Ohio I’m going to look y’all up and do some grilling , y’all make me hungry talking about that butcher blend seasoning and them amazing grills y’all got💝👍
Awesome video guys, as someone who messed up my first cape I was taking notes on this fo sho!
Glad it helped!
Great video. ..never thought about skinning this way. .. look forward to the next video. ..
Nice buck enjoy y’all’s Vidio
Fantastic buck! Great job on the video and the skinning..
Jimmy Davis Thank-you!
Nice buck.!!👍🏻👍🏻
Nice deer and great video. I'd love to hear more about knife sharpening if possible. Thanks.
Really nice buck
Nice job! I’ve used this way since I was 16.
Rock on!
Stud buck, great video.. what about caping in the field for the non-flatlanders that kill MTN bucks. A bit trickier when doing on a hillside. Nonetheless great video for those that get their deer out whole!
great stuff brothers. always cut through the leg tendon
Thanks for leaving the brisket and the neck like you did. I need a measurement about 3" down the neck and I am tired of sewing up a split brisket
Nice buck!! Great job
You got it going on
I’ve got a gambrel that attaches to my hitch receiver. Works great.
That last step, when they lay out the hide and it looks like a flat deer, is just amazing. When I"m done, it always looks like a bloody mess. Maybe I'll do better this year.
nice buck brother
Y’all both sound the exact same lmao
Just a tip for the legs get a steal rob run it through the open of the leg hole and pull down make it a lot easier to pull the hide.
Great video!!! Nice buck! Hope you get another one in a couple weeks!
Thank you!
best way to skin a Deer I have seen so far.....No seams or unnecessary cuts Great Job!!!!
Wow, thanks!
Nice Bro, I know you were proud to take him
Thank-you!
god will be proud to take u too. one day.
@@rishabhshahi6126 do you mean that in a literal sense, or as a personal attack against me ?
its my opinion for the people like u. who appreciate killing of animals.
@@rishabhshahi6126 To each his own, but here we ethically hunt, sorry you don't like it, but it's our heritage, obviously not yours.
Good job man big one

Just wondering if you do this and you can’t get to the taxidermist right away how should you store it and for how long can it be stored before being brought to the taxidermist?

Phillip Karnehm Nice!!! Same to you!
