Why keeping the Law is not required of Christians

  • I’m curious what our Hebrew Roots friends will say about this. They say Christians are required to keep the Torah. And the Torah commands that all males be circumcised at eight days old (Lev 12:3). So circumcision is a command given in the Torah (Lev 12:3), but it's not required in the New Testament by Jesus, Peter, Paul, James or anyone else (Acts 15:1-29; 1 Corinthians 7:18; Galatians 5:1, 6, etc.). So if circumcision, which was a Torah command, isn’t required under Jesus, then those who follow Jesus aren’t required to keep the Torah.

This literally means a true believer indwelt by the Holy Spirit no longer needs the Law of Moses because they have the very Spirit of God in them to convict them of sin. They don't need to see a list of rules to know something is bad.
Those who do not have the Spirit cannot discern what must be spiritually discerned.
If you have a religious pride demon masquerading as a counterfeit holy spirit in your life then you will interpret this passage to mean even gentile believers have to keep Torah for their salvation except they don't have to be circumcised which even from natural discernment is stupid, illogical, and antiChrist.

The issue Paul confronted was that some people were teaching that if men were not circumcised, regardless of their Jew or gentile status, they could not receive salvation: “But some men came down from Judea and were teaching the brothers, ‘Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved’” (Acts‬ ‭15:1‬ ‭ESV‬‬). Now, can you please show me where such a concept is found in scripture? Nowhere! This notion is completely a man made tradition. Can you imagine the idea that without cutting off a piece of skin one would be excluded from the kingdom of heaven? Paul was simply calling out the heresy.
However, what Paul was not doing was speaking out against God’s commandment of circumcision itself, as he stated in Galatians that he still preached, or proclaimed, circumcision: “But if I, brothers, still preach circumcision, why am I still being persecuted?” ‭‭(Galatians‬ ‭5:11a‬ ‭ESV‬‬). And, in Romans (3:1-2) Paul asks the question: “What is the value of circumcision?” His response: “Much in every way!” Since Paul wasn’t contradicting himself, he was undoubtedly rejecting a false teaching, not an instruction of God.

      Walking with Paul,
You took those Scriptures out of “Context”, he was saying, in that verse, In essence that, If he was preaching circumcision, then why was he being persecuted, in other words, he was not preaching Circumcision but the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and that is why he was suffering persecution by the Jews.
If he were preaching circumcision, then the Jews would not have found fault in him.

@@heidiranger6106 Paul was being persecuted because he was not teaching circumcision with their particular purpose: securing one’s eternal salvation (Acts‬ ‭15:1‬). If you can prove from scripture that this was ever the purpose of circumcision, your assertions can potentially be valid. Can you please provide a verse proving this? Unfortunately, the Bible teaches no such thing. Circumcision is a sign of being in covenant relationship with God, not an assurance of salvation. Therefore, what you are arguing was never in view for Paul with the issue at hand. As Paul said, he did in fact teach circumcision, but just not for the heretical purpose that some wanted him to (Galatians‬ ‭5:11a‬).
Also, the people teaching circumcision for salvation were likely believers in Jesus themselves. Acts 15 does not clearly state this, but Paul confirms this reality of undoubtedly the same group of men in his letter to the Galatians. Paul states, “It is those who want to make a good showing in the flesh who would force you to be circumcised, and only in order that they may not be persecuted for the cross of Christ. For even those who are circumcised do not themselves keep the law, but they desire to have you circumcised that they may boast in your flesh (Galatians‬ ‭6‬:‭12‬-‭13‬ ‭ESV‬‬).” These Jewish Christians were attempting to somehow stay in the good graces of their non-believing Jewish comrades by perpetuating the false doctrine that circumcision is required for one’s salvation. They received some sort of “notch in their belt” so to speak. By teaching this man-made tradition, they were avoiding a level of persecution that went along with believing in Jesus. Perhaps these non-believing Jews left them alone for still “playing by their rules.” Paul was not going to play by their man-made system. Paul taught God’s commandment of circumcision for its true purpose not a heretical one.
Additionally, remember that Paul states, “What is the value of circumcision? Much in every way (Romans 3:1b).” As it is one God’s commandments, clearly Paul knew its importance.
Biblical continuity from beginning to end is the only way to establish spiritual truth.
      God bless,
      Paul

the Jewish Nation (Israel) was the only ones that received the circumcision, as a sign of the old Covenant not the Gentiles. They were to be a peculiar people and an Holy Nation from among all the other Nations. (the Gentiles)
The Gentiles were called the “Uncircumcision”, because they were Aliens and Strangers to that Old Covenant but under the “Promise” made to Abraham, they were “a people called out for his Name”, (Yeshua/ Jesus)
To this fact, the words of the prophets agreed. (Read the whole Chapter of Acts Ch 15.)
The Judgement is then made what things Gentiles should avoid.
Then the verse concludes with, for Moses of Old times have those who preach Him, being read in the “Synagogues” every Sabbath day.
      In other words:
when the Jews would gather in the Synagogues, as they do Every Sabbath, “this Truth”would become clear to them:
Now: the “circumcision” (the Jews) are justified through Faith in Jesus, and the Uncircumcised Gentiles are Justified through Faith in Jesus.
What set them apart in the Flesh “Circumcision” has now brought them together in the heart by Christ’s Holy Spirit.
The Physical Circumcision, was a “shadow” of a greater reality. That reality is found in Christ.
The cutting away of the Fleshly Foreskin in Circumcision, represents the Cutting away of the Fleshly Sin Nature from the heart.
Christ is performing this “circumcision” of our hearts now, in the Holy Spirit, so their is no need for the Gentiles to be circumcised in their flesh.
I hope you can begin to understand now how the Shadows of the Old Covenant find their Fullest of expression in Christ Jesus under the New Covenant.
      God bless you too, Paul.

As far as "walk as He walked" goes, 1 John 3: 22-24 says very clearly what Jesus commandments are; "Believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another." In 1 John chapter 1 & 2, John is talking about walking in the light of truth like Jesus did. He's saying that if you claim to not have sin then you are a liar. Calling Christianity pagan and a failure are not words of someone who wants to find peace and togetherness in Christ. I've heard all the topics that you pose are problems, however those issues have already been resolved so I'd think it unfortunate that you choose to believe them. I wonder how you came to believe those things? Where did those ideas come from? Who is the father of lies and division? Who would like nothing better than to see Christ followers divided and fighting so the world can see division in us and determine that is not good. Jesus died for your sins and loves you sooooo much that it hurts him to see you hurting and feeling like you need to make other people agree with you. It is not a Christians role to convince anyone of the truth, it is the Holy Spirit's role. I hope one day you find peace that passes all understanding in Christ and rest in him.

Paul wasnt teaching against circumcision, he was teaching against "salvation through circumcision and the law". Jews taught one must be circumcised to be saved, thus why Paul said they were teaching another gospel. This is why Paul taught that in Christ salvation circumcision didn't matter. But this does not mean Paul was teaching the law was done away with in Christ.

My take on the whole Torah keeping issue is “have to” vs “grow into”. We are covered in Christ Jesus. As we grow into Him we begin to love all of the things of God. All the law is summed up in love for God and love for people. It isn’t a hell issue. Jesus took care of that. The burden of the law is lifted, but the light it gives is still there and a blessing. I don’t keep Torah personally, not to the extent that some do, but I am growing into it. Each step into the light of the law reveals the awesomeness of the salvation my Savior Jesus has purchased for me. I get to do this because I have the freedom to do it without fear of failure. 😊

If you read the book of Hebrew, you will understand that Jesus kept those festivals only because he was completing the old covenant and replacing it with the new Covenant, which is the provision of the sacrificial Lamb of God, Jesus that would Take away the sins of the world. Jesus was also Transferring the Priesthood from the Order Aaron and Levi to Himself, in the Order of Melchizedek, after a Different tribe and which is Better and Superior to that Old System of Worship. That is why Hebrews Chapter 8 says it was Obsolete ( Abrogated) waxing old and Vanishing away.
The complete vanishing away happened in 70AD when the Roman General Titus destroyed the Temple and the Jews were dispersed.
The Old covenant Dispensation of Worship under the Old Covenant was Now replaced through the Holy Spirit in the New Covenant. Now we have Direct Access to God the Father, through the True, one and Only Mediator, Jesus Christ.
All of those Old Testament Festivals, and Required all of those purification rituals, kosher laws and Animal sacrifices to be made, and only pertained to the Nation of Israel, not the Entire Gentile world, because they were to be a Set apart People and an Holy Nation. The Gentiles were considered “Strangers and Aliens” to that covenant, without God, but The Torah fortold in the promise made to Abraham in Genesis Ch 22 and in Gen Ch 17:15-22 that Through thy Seed( Issac, Ultimately Jesus) all nations would be blessed.
When Jesus came, he was born under a woman, born under the Law, in order to Fulfill Gods Righteous standard as he told John the Baptist when He said, “Let it be so for now to fulfill all righteousness, so That is why Jesus was keeping Torah, because until he instituted the new Covenant in his blood, the old covenant dispensation was still in effect. After he died and Rose again, however, the transition to the New Covenant as was prophesied in the Pages of the old was then fulfilled and completed. To go back to the old covenant dispensation now, is to reject Christs finished work and to Go about to establish your own righteousness under an antiquated law and That is Impossible for man to keep and to Say they are keeping Torah is utter Hypocrisy, because, no man can keep the Torah, or the Festivals because those Festivals Require the Aaronic Priesthood and All of the Sacrifices as well as a temple. And this is where I get convicted. I just can't imagine that Hashem would make such bold and exact statements, and then later (New Testament) have us assume he made an error. For example, scriptures like Lev 16:29 And this shall be a statute FOREVER unto you: that in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, ye shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger that sojourneth among you; And Lev 23:31 Ye shall do no manner of work: it shall be a statute FOREVER throughout your generations in all your dwellings. Duet 5:29 O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments ALWAYS, that it might be well with them, and with their children FOREVER! Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. What did Yashua "fulfill"? He fulfilled the death part of breaking a commandment.
And there are many more. And in Revelation - we are going to celebrate the Holy Days and the Sabbath, soo.... why wouldn't we get into practice now? And as for these things being only for the Jewish people - no, we are grafted in. We are not "gentiles" as a non-believer is a gentile. Have you ever seen something being grafted in? Why would we be grafted in, but not be under the same as the Jewish people? If the rules (for lack of a better word) are different - then we are NOT actually grafted in. We would be bystanders or onlookers. I am curious of your response- sincerely. I want to learn.

I still don't know exactly what Hebrew Roots is. But I was a christian and found in my study that Torah matters. Dove into Judaism, but found that so much was added in the laws as opposed to what the Tanach actually commanded. Came back in strength to being a follower of Yeshua and now also observing Torah as it is written not in Rabbinic oral laws. I guess I like to call it Messianic Torahism. All this being said, in regard to this video where is Torah does it command to be circumsize if you convert to becoming a follower of Yah? All I see in Torah is to circumsize your 8 day old male son not circumsize when you convert. This would make sense why Paul says you don't have to circumsize as this is added rabbinical teaching not actual Torah.

      Such as Acts 15
But some men came down from Judea and were teaching the brothers, “Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.”
      Acts 15:1 ESV
You say in your video Paul was part of the decision made in Acts 15 that gentiles did not need to be circumcised but in the next chapter we see him circumcise a gentile.
Paul wanted Timothy to accompany him, and he took him and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in those places, for they all knew that his father was a Greek.
      Acts 16:3 ESV
Justification is and always has been by faith not by works just as Abraham was saved before his circumcision because he had faith in Yahweh's words. Paul continually rails against the house of shammia teaching that circumcision had to take place to be saved even in Galatians the context is clear. Paul being from the house of helliel of course would be against shammia's teachings.
So context is key not just of the scriptures but also their mind set we should stop trying to impose our culture thoughts and way of life into the text.

But, of course, God's moral laws have been in effect since long before the Law of Moses was given, and they will remain in effect forever. Because the moral laws are based in God's unchanging moral perfection. The ceremonial Mosaic laws, on the other hand, were only given to ancient Israel, and only for a period of time (Gal 3:24-25).

    • @TheBiblicalRoots
      @TheBiblicalRoots  2 дні тому

Hi Sandra. Here's what the _Faithlife Study Bible_ has to say about that verse:
*14:34** women must be silent* If this functions as a rule for all churches in Paul’s time, then Paul is forbidding women from speaking in church, especially during worship, and is likely doing so for reasons specific to his first-century Graeco-Roman context. However, Paul may be addressing a particular problem among the Corinthian congregation (or possibly all churches in the first century AD). In this case, Paul’s prohibition may apply specifically to women who were speaking in tongues or uttering prophesies in an inappropriate manner. Alternatively, he may be addressing women who were disrupting worship services with questions and thereby challenging the authority of their husbands. Ultimately, Paul’s goal in the passage is to reestablish order in worship, not to demean the honor of women or devalue their worship of God.
*they must be in submission* Paul is likely making this statement either because some of the women in the congregation were causing strife, or perhaps because women were the center of local folk religion (often called mystery cults) and thus following Jesus was being confused with other religions. Paul discusses the role of women in Corinthian worship in more detail earlier (11:2-16).
*just as the law also says* While Paul refers to the Law and quotes it elsewhere (see 1 Cor 9:8; 14:21), this is not a quotation nor does it match the content of any OT law. It may refer to Gen 2:18-24, in which God created Adam first and Eve second. It is also possible that this refers to Gen 3:16, where God pronounces that the woman shall desire her husband.

Christ has done it all.
Whoever desires to be justified by the law has fallen from grace (Galatians 5), that is why eternal life must be received as a free gift (Rom 6) through faith, apart from works of the law (Eph 2, Phil 3, Rom 10, etc etc.) It’s either perfect personal perpetual adherence to God’s perfect law (impossible for man) or trust in the perfect work of Christ in our place (life, death, resurrection fulfilling all righteousness). There is no in between.
Of course we want to keep Christ’s commandments as a response of love and gratitude for His salvation. If you believe your works will be acceptable before God on their own you are going to be condemned by them. The acts 15 debate was all about circumcision for SALVATION. Gentile nor jews don't need to be circumcised to be saved not in the first century or ever before that time. From Adam, Noah, Abraham, Peter and all the righteous men we read about, not one of them were saved because of circumcision or by keeping any other commandment written in the entire scripture. Every one is saved in the same way, David, Abraham, Noah, Paul and myself are saved by Grace through faith in Messiah. If acts 15 means that it is not nessary for Gentile to keep the Torah, why then give the Gentile commandment from the Torah to keep.
    Acts 15:20-21
[20]but that we write to them to abstain FROM THINGS POLLUTED BY IDOLS, FROM SEXUAL IMMORALITY, FROM THINGS STRANGLED, and FROM BLOOD.
[21]For Moses has had throughout many generations those who preach him in every city, being read in the synagogues every Sabbath.”
All these 4 things are directly from the Torah of God and 3 of them are food laws. So it still matters what Gentiles eat and drink. Can I drink blood? Can I eat things sacrifice to idols? If what I eat and drink doesn't matter I should be able to eat things sacrifices to idols and drink blood without it being transgression of the law( TORAH)

@@eagleclan75 my writings on here are well documented. But I would love for you to share how one keeps Torah. Let’s start with these questions first: if Torah means instruction then Torah has 613 laws called Hebrew imperatives but 247 are not able to be used because of the temple being destroyed and there are no priests to conduct sacrifice’s how does one keep Torah? Even Orthodox jews say one cannot keep Torah. So how would you? I have had people share with me Torah groups who do sacrifice goats and lambs in total blasphemy of Christ sacrifice. So do Torah Keepers not believe that Jesus Christ was the same God on mt Sinai as the God Who died for us? It appears many torah keepers do not believe Jesus is God in that way as they follow Moses not Christ at Christ’s command to follow Him. That is a greek imperative a command. Christ is very One that gave Mose the commands! Most Torah keepers follow Judaism which is not biblical. Jesus said to follow Him. Most torah keepers do not share the Gospel of Christ as salvation but instead twist Scripture to get unsuspecting women and men who do not know how to properly study the Bible twisted into knots to follow Moses and doubt and hate Christianity. Yet they do what rote religion does and follow rules in Judaism that Paul rebuked the unsaved Jews for doing to the Torah by works not by faith. Romans 9:30-ff. That is their Gospel. Therefore Jesus and the Apostles gave us 1642 new Greek imperative called the law/instructions (torah of Christ if you will) but Torah keepers reject these as if Christ and the apostles didn’t matter. If the new temple is built before the tribulation will you go to the sacrifices of animals? That is mosaic Torah. Isaiah 66:1-6 has harsh words for the Jews who restart temple sacrifices because of the sacrifice of Christ. This is what Torah Keepers do. Christ fulfilled the Torah by paying our sin debt on the cursed tree. Because He was God Almighty acting as the second Adam He paid for adam and Eves sin and because He was God almighty He paid for our sin fulfilling Torah. He came as prophesied so fulfilled the prophets. He did not abolish anything. He fulfilled it and made us one new man in Christ. Pls do not twist words to say I do not believe in keeping Torah. I believe Christ did for me. That is faith.

@@TheBiblicalRoots 53 times in the first testament we're told to "guard the commandments". When Jesus was asked "how do we become saved" his response was " you know the commandments". Then in revelation 14:12 the sanctified ones are those who "guard the commandments" and have the testimony of Yahusha/Jesus. The scriptures are very consistent.
As far as Paul is concerned for the most part I think his words are misunderstood, and if I do find myself in a place where I "believe" his words disagree with Jesus' words then I side with Jesus everytime. When Jesus said many will be told to depart bc he doesn't know them bc they are LAWLESS, I believe him.

It's so goofy because Paul quotes something from Isaiah and actually finishes the sentence. Here is the Isaiah quote "No eye hath seen, no ear hath heard what God hath prepared for them"
Now this is Pauls writings "no eye hath seen, no ear hat heard what God hath prepared for them { that love him but he hath revealed them unto us by HIS SPIRIT} ".
I mean that makes sense. Because the Spirit of truth will reveal the truth of God.
But when we say an idol is nothing well that's letting "one of these little ones to stumble"
A stone is a stone and wood is wood but once someone eats off it and worships it that no longer becomes and object. What motivates them to be drawn to an idol or to eat off it? is it a demon that is drawing them to it.?
Do spiritual demon reside by the idol as well as the person who has a demon is allowing themselves to be drawn towards it? "the heart is deceitful and desperately wicked"
But we should not be in an idols temple "little children keep yourselves from idols"

Acts 21 does prove my case. Act 21:19 After greeting them, he related one by one the things that God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry.
Act 21:20 And when they heard it, they glorified God. And they said to him, “You see, brother, how many thousands there are among the Jews of those who have believed. They are all zealous for the law,

Act 21:22 What then is to be done? They will certainly hear that you have come.
      Act 21:23 Do therefore what we tell you. We have four men who are under a vow;
Act 21:24 take these men and purify yourself along with them and pay their expenses, so that they may shave their heads. Thus all will know that there is nothing in what they have been told about you, but that you yourself also live in observance of the law.
Act 21:25 But as for the Gentiles who have believed, we have sent a letter with our judgment that they should abstain from what has been sacrificed to idols, and from blood, and from what has been strangled, and from sexual immorality.”
Act 21:26 Then Paul took the men, and the next day he purified himself along with them and went into the temple, giving notice when the days of purification would be fulfilled and the offering presented for each one of them.

    Unto the circumcision.
    1) It is a sign of the Abraham covenant. Because it is what is within that which is revealed. Also as a sign as a token of the covenant that we are part of Abrahams seed.
    2) in the “New Testament” many converts were joining a “Jewish” faith where circumcision had become a religious act; also a right of passage.
Many of the ones that were coming to faith were uncircumcised. And this brought many to the “Law” of (rabbinical) traditions. Because the Pharisees could not see faith over tradition.
Also, if the guy kept reading in acts, he would have seen that these things were just the starting point of the ones coming to Faith, a starting point, newbees. They were still coming to synagogue every sabbath (Saturday) to hear the Law. You have to come the the Fire (Ruach Hacodesh) and let Him know where you walk and grow.
The cut of the flesh does not transform one, however it is a sign of what can be transformed.
    3) Christ (Yeshua HaMashea) is the gatekeeper. He decides who comes and goes. This is the Law of circumcision, however He lays the Sword of condemnation.
    Shalom

“Required”… as a child when you are young not much is expected of you by your father. As you grow more responsibility is added. Acts 15 is discussing new believers. The church does the same thing today. If a prostitute comes into the church and says I believe in Christ what should I do next? Does church say, “nothing! Just keep living the same way!” No…. They say well let’s start by finding you a new profession and continue your spiritual growth. In acts 15 how could new believers keep the whole Torah when they had never studied it nor been taught it. Vs 21 is key to understanding the whole chapter.
In regards to circumcision also not a salvation issue but is none the less still a command. The difference is circumcision because you want to be obedient or circumcision to be saved. Acts 15 says the pharisees were saying gentiles must be circumcised and keep the law TO BE SAVED.
We need to read the text carefully and stop trying to one up each other. There needs to be unity in the body of christ especially as we enter get closer to the return of Christ.

The command of circumcision in Lev 12:3 simply is a continuation of the command given of Abraham’s covenant to the 👉🏻 ethnic Hebrews.👈🏻 It is the sign of the covenants never a sign for how someone gets saved (which is what Paul is actually dealing with. He is dealing with traditions of men (Halacha) and not the Torah).
Avraham was saved by faith and not circumcision (This is the pattern of salvation in all covenants). This command still stands today for not all the -Avrahamic covenant has been fulfilled. All ethnic Hebrews are required to still circumcise their children. According to you Paul now abolished that command and considered it rubbish?
Paul isn’t requiring circumcision for the gentiles because others have made it a salvation issue by way of man made traditions (oral law) and 👉🏻NOT 👈🏻 Torah. They are claiming ethnic superiority for salvation. They have made ethnic identity a salvation issue. Paul is stating he doesn’t count his circumcision as requirement for salvation. Paul is saying it’s not circumcision plus Yeshua for salvation. This is why he claims his circumcision as rubbish. It’s only 👉🏻rubbish👈🏻 compare to the 👉🏻work of Yeshua. 👈🏻 The List in Phil 3 shows Paul as a perfect Jew compared to the converts to Judaism requiring circumcision for salvation and yet he doesn’t claim his ethnicity plus Yeshua for salvation. This doesn’t do away with the law of Moshe but puts it in its proper place as a requirement after salvation (i.e., entertaining the kingdom). Again, its only rubbish compared to the work of Yeshua. This doesn’t do away of the command of circumcision as you are suggesting.
No one has ever been circumcision for salvation. All who left Egypt received salvation and the mixed multitude was not required circumcision. All were required to follow the law of Moshe who attached themselves to Israel. Lev 12:3 is for ethnic born Hebrews to show the sign of Avrahamic covenant and wasn’t required of the 👉🏻ger 👈🏻 who attached themselves to Israel (Ex 12:37-38) and her covenants. There is no command in the law of Moshe that a 👉🏻ger 👈🏻 must be circumcised to dwell with Israel and be part of the covenants. This is why there is one law for the native as well as the foreigner (Exodus 12:49, Exodus 20:10, Exodus 22:20, Exodus 23:9, Leviticus 16:29, Leviticus 17:15, Leviticus 18:26, Leviticus 24:16, Leviticus 24:22, Numbers 15:13, Numbers 15:29, Numbers 15:30, Numbers 19:10, Numbers 35:15, Deuteronomy 1:16, Deuteronomy 29:10-14, Deuteronomy 31:12)
The Sinai covenant is not a salvation by works. It’s a salvations by grace both for the Israelites and mixed multitude (ger attaching themselves to Israel ). The Sinai covenant has always been part of the Avrahamic Covenant showing blessing to both the native and the foreigner for as Isaiah 56:1-10 and Yeshua said in Matt 21:13 and Mark 11:17 “it’s a House of Prayer for 👉🏻ALL👈🏻 nations.
Notice the prophetic verses of Deut 30:6-11 how YaH will circumcise the hearts of his people (i.e., done by the work of Yeshua in my opinion ) and they will keep the law of Moshe. Deut 29:14-15 shows Moshe is talking with both ethnic Israelites and gentiles who are welcome to be part of the covenant.
“You are standing today, all of you, before the Lord your God: the heads of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, all the men of Israel, your little ones, your wives, and the sojourner who is in your camp, from the one who chops your wood to the one who draws your water, so that you may enter into the sworn covenant of the Lord your God, which the Lord your God is making with you today, that he may establish you today as his people, and that he may be your God, as he promised you, and as he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. It is not with you alone that I am making this sworn covenant, but with whoever is standing here with us today before the Lord our God, and with whoever is not here with us today.”
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭29‬:‭10‬-‭15‬ ‭ESV‬‬
“And the Lord your God will circumcise your heart and the pool heart of your offspring, so that you will love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, that you may live. And the Lord your God will put all these curses on your foes and enemies who persecuted you. And you shall again obey the voice of the Lord and keep all his commandments that I command you today. The Lord your God will make you abundantly prosperous in all the work of your hand, in the fruit of your womb and in the fruit of your cattle and in the fruit of your ground. For the Lord will again take delight in prospering you, as he took delight in your fathers, when you obey the voice of the Lord your God, to keep his commandments and his statutes that are written in this Book of the Law, when you turn to the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.”
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭30‬:‭6‬-‭10‬ ‭ESV‬‬
“Thus says the Lord: "Keep justice, and do righteousness, for soon my salvation will come, and my righteousness be revealed. Blessed is the man who does this, and the son of man who holds it fast, who keeps the Sabbath, not profaning it, and keeps his hand from doing any evil." Let not the foreigner who has joined himself to the Lord say, "The Lord will surely separate me from his people"; and let not the eunuch say, "Behold, I am a dry tree." For thus says the Lord: "To the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths, who choose the things that please me and hold fast my covenant, I will give in my house and within my walls a monument and a name better than sons and daughters; I will give them an everlasting name that shall not be cut off. "And the foreigners who join themselves to the Lord, to minister to him, to love the name of the Lord, and to be his servants, everyone who keeps the Sabbath and does not profane it, and holds fast my covenant- these I will bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer; their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples." The Lord God, who gathers the outcasts of Israel, declares, "I will gather yet others to him besides those already gathered."”

There is no contradictions. It’s a matter of understanding covenants and how they operate. The offerings point us to Yeshua. They were and are still a shadow pointing to the reality. Both the Sinai and New covenant are operating side by side right now and will in the future. Matt 5:17-19 still stands. Not all has been fulfilled spoken of Yeshua within the Torah and the prophets. Yeshua is returning to fulfill the rest and there will be offerings going on when he returns (Deut 30:1-11, Jer 33:14-26, Ez 36:22-36, Zechariah 14:21-23, Isaiah 2:1-4 and more )
There is nothing wrong with the book of Hebrews, just many Christian’s interpretations for they contradict the TaNaK. This is why it’s easy to refute Solbergs claims.

Hi, Austin! Our channel is in 100% support of the Torah. Here's a 60-second video explaining our position: ua-cam.com/users/shortsp_gI9z79GAA?feature=share
What this channel fights against is _Torahism,_ which is the unbiblical misapplication of the laws of God. I receive dozens of messages every week from people whose marriages, families, churches, and communities are being damaged by Hebrew Roots teachings. For those who want to keep Saturday sabbath, eat kosher, and keep the Torah feast, I see no problem! They are free to do those things. The problem happens when they start demanding that other people do the same thing as well. When they accuse their wife, husband, neighbor, relative, or pastor of living in sin and rebellion against God because they eat pork or work on Saturday or celebrate Christmas, people get confused, hurt, and frustrated.
These are the people I am trying to help. This is why I spent so much time and effort on this. Christians are not required to do those things; not as a matter of salvation or righteousness. There is not one thing we can do-no feast or diet or special day-that can add a single thing to the righteousness that is ours through faith in Christ. Torahism is a false theology that causes division in the Bride of Christ and shifts our focus away from Jesus and toward Moses. That is what I am fighting against.
      Blessings, Rob

Hello Estill! Under the New Covenant, circumcision is permitted, but it's not required. There's nothing wrong with being circumcised, but it doesn't add anything to our righteousness, and it's not a requirement of obedience. Under the Law of Moses, on the other hand, circumcision was not an option: it was a command Israel was required to keep.
Also, when the Bible says "there is no more Jew and Greek" (Gal 3:28), it is not speaking about ethnicity. Just like when that same verse says "there is no male and female" it's not talking about gender. The removal of the distinction between Jew and Gentile taught in the New Testament refers to salvation and being members of God's family.

Moses is saved by grace through faith in Messiah, not by any other way can man be saved no matter when they were alive.
This simple truth debunks the dispensational presuppositions on "being saved differently in the OT"
Moses is saved the same way as us "through faith" and was taught the law so that sin could be revealed. Law is kept not to be saved but rather kept to avoid walking in sin. Yeshua saves us from transgressions, which is breaking the law. Now that we are saved, we do not deliberately walk in sin as that would be the equivalent as spitting in our Messiahs face. Messiah taught to believe in him and repent, not believe in him and continue sin or choose what laws you want to keep.

Also in acts they didn't say it wasn't necessary but instead told them what laws to focus on first because some laws are more important to learn first like to stay away from paganism basically...it says focus on the 4 laws first and you will learn the rest of the Torah at the synagogue on Sabbath. He is the Word and he is Manifested in the heart of every true believer by his Holy Spirit and he will guide us into all truth, if you just pray and ask him. He will reveal it to us all if we are sinning against him and if you ask him if you are sinning and you don’t feel him rebuke you, then you must not be sinning.
I know if I do something wrong or if if I were to do something very bad, God’s voice will come to me loud and clear, but if I make my bed or wash the dishes or go grocery shopping on Saturday, no rebuke from God whatsoever! That is how you know when Man is imposing his own laws onto you! Jesus is the one who sheds light on sins through the Power of the Holy Spirit. God doesn’t need man’s assistance to illuminate our sins. If your heart condemns you, then you should listen, obey and Correct your behavior but if the only one who is rebuking you is man, then whatever you are doing is probably just a Manmade law. Always ask God to verify and if he doesn’t reveal to you that you are sinning then it’s not a sin, believe me, God speaks loud and clear when you are grieving the Holy Spirit. He has never rebuked me for not abstaining for work on a Friday Evening to Saturday Evening.❤️

Hello, TT! The problem with that theory is that we don't see Gentiles entering the synagogue to learn the law, and nowhere in the NT does it tell us that Gentile followers of Jesus ever should (or did) learn the entire law. In fact, Jesus specifically told His followers, “They will put you out of the synagogues” (John 16:2)! And that came true: History shows us that believers in Jesus were pushed out of the synagogues by the Jewish rabbis. They instituted _Birkat HaMinim,_ a benediction against heretics that made even Jewish believers in Jesus so uncomfortable they stopped attending. There is a far stronger and more biblical reason that those four restrictions were given. Here’s a video I made on that specific verse: *Acts 15:21, Hebrew Roots, and the key to the Jerusalem Council* ua-cam.com/video/e7q892CiklY/v-deo.html

Now talking about the new covenant well you still have to keep His laws Matthew 5:17 and down and Him coming to fulfill the law Deuteronomy 18:18 but here is the kicker if we didn’t have to follow the law . we must obey the torah
      Mathew 5
17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.(this was a common Hebrew idiom that says that I came to teach the law how it's meant to be teached, we find how the law is meant to be teached in the law)
18 For verily I say unto you, Till HEAVEN AND EARTH(not Jesus but heaven and earth) pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.(the Pharisees unlike what many think weren't obedient to the law and Yashua rebuked them for that, they teached the law but were hypocrites and didn't do what they taught Mathew 23 Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples:
2 The Pharisees and the teachers of the Law are experts in the Law of Moses. 3 So obey everything they teach you, but don't do as they do. After all, they say one thing and do something else.
      Mathew 15
3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
4 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
      5 But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;
6 And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
      Revalation 12
17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments(Torah)of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
The commandments include the sacrificial laws.(thers nothing outside of Pauls epistles that suggests we shouldn't do the sacrificial laws)
A lot of this confusion comes from the false apostle Paul and his disciple Luke who was in opposition with the rest of the apostles
      Galatians 2
11 But when Peter came to Antioch, I opposed him in public, because he was clearly wrong.
12 Before some men who had been sent by James arrived there, Peter had been eating with the Gentile believers. But after these men arrived, he drew back and would not eat with the Gentiles, because he was afraid of those who were in favor of circumcising them.
13 The other Jewish believers also started acting like cowards along with Peter; and even Barnabas was swept along by their cowardly action.
14 When I saw that they were not walking a straight path in line with the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter in front of them all, “You are a Jew, yet you have been living like a Gentile, not like a Jew. How, then, can you try to force Gentiles to live like Jews?”(Paul said that Peter was living like a gentile because he was eating with Gentiles, but that was a false Jewish custom not a matter of the law)
      Matthew 16
18 Jesus pronounced a blessing upon Peter and proclaimed Peter's answer as having been derived by divine inspiration. He then stated, “And I say also unto thee, Thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” .
Paul, an apostle of Yahshua by the will of God, To the saints who are in Ephesus
      - Ephesians 1:1
This you know, that all those in Asia have turned away from me.
      -2Timothy 1:15
I was in the Spirit on the Lord's Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet, saying, "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last," and, "What you see, write in a book and send it to the seven churches which are in Asia: to Ephesus, to Smyrna, to Pergamos, to Thyatira, to Sardis, to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea."
      - Revelation 1:10,11
I know your works, your labor, and your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars.
      - Revlations 2:2
Asia is where Ephesus was located! Ephesus rejected Paul and is being praised for testing 'those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars'.

All of this stuff has been resolved for nearly two millennia, by traditional Christians and in particular the Eastern Orthodox Church. Christ gave the Holy Spirit to guide the Church in all truth and right teaching. The problem is that modern Protestants (and Roman Catholics) no longer trust the one Holy and Apostolic Church, and so are having to rediscover the error of Judaizing the Faith in addition to other heresies.

    • @drewcoope

@@timw6110 the Church of the first century would absolutely recognize the Orthodox Church, who has kept the practices, teachings, doctrines, and liturgical worship pattern taught by the Apostles and the venerable fathers, the radiant and victorious martyrs, and righteous saints for nearly two thousand years. What they wouldn’t recognize is rock’n’roll Sunday worship, just as they wouldn’t recognize Sunday-forbidding worship (Saturday-only worship). Christ fulfilled the Sabbath when He rested in the tomb on Holy Saturday, and brought His rest into completion in rising on Sunday, the 8th Day, which is also the first day of eternity. And there is nothing wrong with celebrating the Feast of the Nativity of the Lord, as the (Orthodox) Church has done for centuries; quite different from secular Western Christmas.
Read Scripture carefully. In Christ we have a New and Eternal Covenant, with its own worship and ordinances. There is no longer any merit in keeping the Mosaic covenant. Its purpose has been completed and perfected in the new household of the faithful (Israel) assembled before the Lord. The Holy Israel of God is the Church.

@@timw6110 Ok. I stand corrected concerning forbidding worship on Sunday. I don't know all the nuances of the Hebrew Roots Movement. Still, it is my understanding that those who adhere to that movement demand Saturday worship. This was dealt with in the counsel of Laodicea, wherein Judaizing the faith was deemed anathema (that is, demanding observance of the Mosaic covenant). We don't need a new movement trying to (re)interpret Scripture. We need people to simply return to the one true Church that Christ established through the Apostles, and which the Apostles transmitted through the centuries. Our doctrines are not manmade; they are guided by the Holy Spirit.
