Much respect to this musical genius Curtis Mayfield. I first heard this song Billy Jack done by Phillip Bailey of Earth Wind & Fire on his new release album called Love Will Find A Way. After reading the credits on Phillip Baileys new release, i now know it was originally written by Curtis Mayfield. Excellent tune and again much respect to Curtis. If you have not heard Philip Bailey's new release Love Will Find A Way i would invite you check it out. As most of us know Earth Wind & Fire was the badest band in all the land during the 1970's and continue to set musical examples for new artist today.
Waow, what a play, so sublime, so coordinated, so surreal! Mayfair is a great but one must give kudos to the fella on bass, an accomplished master at play.
The song is very beautiful indeed. I'd liked to listen to the soulfull music right now so I did. Overall very good performed by them all, good song and feel, can't get any better! Grtz, Aart
I dedicate this song to the Martin family, may GOD be with your family in your time of grief.. And may justice come down like a hammer on a nail on ZIMMERAN!!!!!
This is awesome.... And I considered myself a pretty good, proficient 33 yr old fan of Mr. Mayfield, DAMN, this is first time I've ever heard this one 7/31/10.... The words are on point, and the music just takes it over the top
PLEASE SOMEONE TO PUT IN UA-cam BILLY JACK(MP3) COMPLETE SONG FROM LIVE AT RONNIE SCOTT'S IF SOMEONE HAS IT!!!!!!!!!!!!PLEASE ITS GOOD FOR HUMANITY THIS VERSION :D
Curtis Mansfield, He has left a musical mastery playing soul a sophisticated style by composing ,signing and playing mhis great legacy melodic guitar 🎸

I wondered about that as well. I thought maybe he was rather too flash up town playing the big hustler - became a bit too big for his boots - in the hood, different manners expected. but he showed too little respect maybe..

Full of soul like he performed and a Mr Niceguy too, having been friend with and supported lots of other musicians.......... RIP
my favourite song !!!!!!
His band was AWESOME!
His death created a loss to humanity that still has never been filled much to all our detriment.

Please explain the lyric "Didn't care nothin' bout being Black."
I wondered about that as well. I thought maybe he was rather too flash up town playing the big hustler - became a bit too big for his boots - in the hood, different manners expected. but he showed too little respect maybe..
@@nicklilley4865 Maybe he's saying "he wasn't a good guy, but it's sad he died anyway"
love the song. but man that keys player is killing the vibe. he definitely rips, but lost the feel for a few minutes.
def should be more bass guitar and no 80s electric piano
Didn't care nothing bout being black
Curtis in great but Randy the bass player needs to buy some soul
Clarence Ross, Jr.
