These mods attempted to make playing the older COD titles safe and restore features and support the devs have abandonded. Yet another entry in how awful Activision is as a company.
I-Is this the real M3RK? But I don’t know what to say about all of this.. Call of Duty makes so much money!! They can pay everyone.. so why can’t they listen to us? And why do they rush to make a game? I much rather wait years then have to play a game that is only made by the end of its life cycle.. if Call of Duty reads this.. please, please don’t do it for the money.. I promise yall make so much you won’t have to worry!! Can y’all just please make a game out of love and passion for the fans? PLEASE
The bar they had to cross is so low it went straight through the center of the earth, went flying down the other side of the earth, flew down until it arrived at another universe, and it went through another earth. And Activison failed to pass it
@@pepijn23 2021? Nah, Activision has had EA beat since MW2. Anything bad you can say about EA over the last decade, was most likely something Activision had been getting away with long before EA tried it. Nobody remembers that the loot box craze of the late 2010s started with Overwatch. There wasn’t a massive controversy over removing content people paid for from destiny 2. Once you add the Jason West and Vince Zampella incident, all the once great IPs they’ve killed with awful entries built to be simple money grabs, and all other random debacle that got swept under the rug, and the patent they made for a matchmaking system designed to sell micro transactions by pairing low skilled players against higher skilled players with new weapons, idk how anyone could say Activision isn’t the worst. Actiblizz has been worse than EA for over a decade now. It just took the whole sexual harassment lawsuit for people to finally open their eyes to it.
@@pepijn23they’ve done it since 2017 I feel like Star Wars bf2 was overhated not that they didn’t deserve it but cause Activision got away with the same thing
The thing is, they would've made more money from a single player buying a shit load of Supply Drops in a single day; than that same clown buying one of their $15+ bundles. Because let's be honest, we all had to take out two mortgages in order to buy Supply Drops and Gobblegums at one point.
There is a downside. Why would pay for remasters/remakes/re-releases if there are mods that do that for free. It will negativity impact Activision's bottom line
Because they don’t want players old and new alike to experience what “gaming” used to be like and want people to buy season passes and loot boxes. 🥱 everything is based around warzone nowadays. Played it once and will pick it up again.
We have made the decision to Cease And Desist this comment because you are using our trademarked slogan without buying the blackcell bundle first - Activision
The amount of hackers in older games seriously needs to be addressed. I'm blown away by the fact these companies just leave them abandoned in that state.
@@RottenMuLoT Interesting way of thinking but I think you missed the point. Do they sell windows xp in 2023 for full price? NO? But they still do for call of duty!
@420rogerz Fr, at this point, Call of Duty is practically selling malware to their customers, I don't know anything about Legal Stuff but wouldn't this count as False advertising?
I dont have much time left but remember this words , if a publisher doesnt care about you , make a revolute credit card , buy a vpn and move in turkey and buy your favourite call of duty for 2€-20€ Aaaaahhhhhhh * flies away in the heaven *
I've had this conspiracy theory for years now that Activision employs these hackers on the older games so you're forced to buy and play the newer titles.
They just don't bother protecting them after 2 years. They shut down the non profit mods as well so you have to buy their newer titles. Terrible company
It explains how good they are at hacking since they would be given all the code, and why they still play the games, as well as why nothing is done about it. Hold up why does this make sense
i was wondering who is hacking these old cod games like is your life that bad that all you do is hop on your pc and hack these really old games and steal peoples ips and ruin others time
Thank you very much for mentioning us! We are still actively developing Renegade X and adding more stuff to it, Also, we are currently working on a new game called Firestorm, an upcoming FPS set in the Tiberian Sun era and it's different from the traditional Renegade style but still has that CnC and RTS element to it.
I never knew about this and I loved CaC Renegade! So I definitely be checking this out, thanks Act Man as well as the wonderful people making Renegade X, I always played the original game and just kinda checked out empty lobbies, all quiet and empty, the story is awesome, but always felt lonely.
Here is my conspiracy theory. The hackers work for Activision in an attempt to make the previous games so unplayable that you are forced to buy the newest one just to play COD
Honestly I could buy it as I can't fathom a reason for hackers being on bo2 just insta killing everyone. There's not monetization gain as selling ips or personal information of strangers is not super profitable and it's not like they're selling accounts or having fun with doing literally the equivalent of nothing so I genuinely think they probably work for Activision to get more people to just buy the new cod for their cod fix
Jev made a very good point and it made a lot of sense. Activision wants us to forget about these games. They don’t want us to remember how games used to be. How a team could put their heart and soul into a game and make something incredible. They want us to forget how such a minimalistic game can be so incredibly great. They want us to forget that games could be made with great launch content and no battle passes. It’s honestly sad and I’m glad I got to experience these titles in their prime.
Modern Warfare 2 was an unfinished dumpster fire that had a couple of patches and then saw no new patches after just a few months. It was much more fun than whatever calla doody games are now though. Just don't get it twisted.
I think they just realize that most gamers are just toxic psychopaths these days. Game development companies haven't ruined these games, the users have. I can list at least 10 ways off the top of my head how people have already ruined DMZ. I don't blame Activision for just taking your money.
While I agree that Activision wants people to forget about the older games, there's no need to ascribe such an abstract reason - it's more profitable if the only game that anyone who plays CoD is playing is the new one. Especially since matchmaking services require a constant churn of players to reach that "critical mass" necessary for an online matchmaking system to work. Additionally, for Activision, they lose a lot of the free-to-play audience if mod projects are allowed to provide a better service than, say, Warzone (which they've stuffed full of sawdust in the form of grind, battlepasses, lootboxes, cash shops or whatever). It's the result of more and more services being turned into walled gardens where the users have less and less freedom for what they do on the platform. "Oh but we need to get rid of the racists and protect the children and ban the "toxic" people" - Such justifications ring hollow when you see what they've allowed hackers to do to the older games. I suppose if the hackers aren't saying slurs and just grabbing your IP and bricking your PC it's fine. Look up "anarchotyranny" and it will start to make sense. PET PEEVE: I don't understand people who don't think critically about this - it all comes down to incentives. Show me an incentive, and I will show you an action. Nothing happens because of pure malice that spontaneously springs forth from Bobby Kotick's fetid maw, even if it might seem like that sometimes. It is aggravating to hear "Well, that would be nice, but it would never happen..." and the WORST one of all "Why can't they just do...?" Because NOBODY "just does" ANYTHING. "Why can't the big company just be nice? Why can't the big company just not be greedy?" Magical thinking. UNDERSTAND the reasons why, then you will be able to try to form a solution.
It’s insane that Activision are just letting hackers destroy their old titles and punishing anybody who tries to create safe and playable ways to enjoy them. At this point I’m convinced it’s a deliberate effort to force anyone interested in playing cod online to play the latest cod.
It's almost like they want hackers to do this so that people feel like they have to play the newest titles that just so happen to be filled to the brim with microtransactions and deceptive practices that let bad players beat you so that they keep swiping.
100 percent. because their game sucks and if they didnt force us to play it, no one would. not to mention hackers are prominent in mw2 as well so it doesnt make a huge difference
More like they're using these old games as an excuse to implement more and more invasive and anti-consumer anticheats and drms that do nothing besides opening their consumers' systems to vulnerabilities and performance issues.
Steam and GoG didn't stop piracy but it sure limited it - I own fallout 1 and 2, damned if I know what happened the original CD's and i downloaded them. I eventually bought them on steam, they didn't work, so i downloaded them again. found them on Gog, found out what gog is, and now i've bought them twice, and gog actually works. I buy a good mix of games between the two, though most are on steam. Anything I want to be timeless, for example, fallout new vegas, i buy on gog. If games had demos, i would never pirate anything - hell, bought dragon quest 11 just because of the 10 hour demo got me hooked, otherwise I wouldn't have bought it
funny thing is that there was a developer who made action henk who endorsed piracy for his game to fight against seller sites like g2a since g2a sellers use to use stolen credit cards to pay for the keys they had back then
Hey Act Man, love the work you put out, brother. I have a theory why Activision suppress their older titles. If players were to go back to the older titles, that means they newer COD (i.e MW1, Cold war, MW2) would not get as many players and thus best interest (from a corporate standpoint) to get as many people on the newer titles and in their BR modes to maximize profit. TL;DR : Old titles take away players from new titles and thus let hackers suppress old Cods to funnel the players back to new titles. I'm not a business major, so if anyone can chime in or correct my theory. Go for it! Have a good one, everyone!
Activision needs to be hit with a class action lawsuit over this. It’s ridiculous that they’re selling unsafe products and doing absolutely nothing, let alone even publicly acknowledging the existence of security flaws, to protect their players. Preventing people from playing older COD titles does not incentivize anyone to purchase the latest ones.
3/4 of Activision Blizzard's biggest shareholders are Vanguard, Blackrock, and Statestreet. These 3 investment firms have direct access to federal reserve loans. So, any company, that they invest in, can't actually be hurt. They will inject more money into the company that's literally printed on demand. The Mega Corps are invincible to lawfare. The only thing that the people can do is take their business to a company that cares about the consumer.
Eh. I don't like Activision, but I've also seen so many bullshit claims of "sexual harassment" that I am numb to them, unless they are fucking on camera or from someone I know and trust. Especially since the one person I know who has had to endure the most consistent, ongoing sexual harassment was a male nurse, and no one gave a shit.
The implication here is that Activision was somehow harbouring the sex offender. there is a difference between a company harbouring sex offenders and a person who works for a company committing a sex offence. Do you know if Activision was actively protecting the offender or if they fired them and denounced the behaviour?
A minority doesn’t represent the majority. Activision as a whole is a shitty company no doubt, but accusing all the people who work there of sexual misconduct or defending it is crazy. The person who did that to who her is nothing more than the dirt on our shoes, but the whole company can’t be held responsible for the actions of 1 “man”.
@@GrifShears multiple parties were involved when harassing her. The harassment happened at work, and nobody was fired. They’re clearly protecting the offenders.
Stop letting history be forgotten. Im so glad there are so many people who bring light to the bullshit of this world. Thanks Actman this was just a good video and n general.
And keeps putting the community at risk.....worst of it all, people are gonna keep playing, mostly though who are either naive and unaware of what Activision has done or simply dgaf
They don't hate Call of Duty, they hate that you aren't playing and paying the most recent Call of Duty. I wouldn't be surprised if those hackers actually work for Activision.
Aside from a hand full of maps that cost an extra donation, there aren't any other monetizeable additions to the older titles. Makes sense why they would push the most egregious and preyfull games
Activision is playing both sides so no matter what, they win. (If players play newer titles, they’ll probably spend money on it. If they play the older titles, then the hackers will spawn kill them for 8 hours straight until they have an aneurism and go play the new titles and they are forced into choosing the first option.)
As a modder myself, I feel pain for the cease and decease being forced upon these great men from the CoD modding community. F with a heavy heart. Hope for better times.
It'd be nice if modders grew some balls. C&D is just a letter, companies send them constantly but it's not a legal action, it's just a letter. That's why they do it, because the modders always get their tail between their legs and run away. You can literally just ignore the C&D's. They are NOT a legal action being taken against you. They are just a threat that companies can easily send and look how effective they are, so of course they're going to keep doing it.
@@PlasticCogLiquid A C&D is the warning you send before you sue the balls off someone, AND MAKE NO MISTAKE modding is 100% copyright infringement and Never protected under fair use.
If they really want them officially fixed, they can always officially hire them. Otherwise leave them alone and continue scrooge mcducking it elsewhere, Bobby!
if they are planning on dropping an mcc style compilation of old cod games, i feel like it would be genuinely beneficial to bring these modders on as developers for help.
It’s like playing old school hardcore TDM on older CODs and griefing on your whole squad and hearing all the people raging through the speakers. These were the golden days of gaming
Which is weird in itself because a franchise like this has naturally printed money so you’d think they’d want to treat it the best they can but then again I guess Activision’s version of printing money is “modern gaming” techniques
If my channel is anything to go by, tapping into nostalgia can be pretty goddamn successful so it's a complete mystery why Activision chooses to not only neglect the old COD games but also punish those that try to fix them
The idea is that it won’t generate enough revenue for old cod’s to be worth it so by deleting the mods ppl are forced to play the new titles that bring in cash
@@TheActMan Remember seeing in a post that they don't have the "money" or "time" to maintain them. Also if you own a COD4 Xbox 360 copy, read the fine print at the back and you'll find an interesting detail into also why Activision won't maintain these games.
intelligent marketing : tweet about how great this mod is, drop the price on steam to 20 bucks for a limited time. Spike the sales of an old game for a week or two for doing literally nothing and reap pure profit and some community good will Blizzard Marketing : anything that doesn't make them look like an asshole never even occurred to them
I believe Activision wants their older games to be unplayable so that people will be forced into buying the newest titles where all the micro transactions are.
But the people that want these old games arent playing the new CoDs anyway... so they're actually just not attracting a certain player full stop. Their market research department are rather incompetent or they are just blindly ignored
Dumb lawyer in-progress here: Companies need to protect their Trademarks (i.e. brand names like Activision) to preserve their right to legally keep others from using their TMs, but that rule doesn’t apply to a company’s copyrights. Those just have a set number of years the IP will be protected; it begins at the creation of the IP and, once that timer runs, the IP falls into the public domain. For example, Disney’s character Steamboat Willie will fall into the public domain in 2024 because their copyright timer is over.
Gotta love how Activision considers people putting protection from hackers into their games to be a threat to their IP, but the hackers are somehow NOT a threat to the IP, despite also using it in ways prohibited by the terms of service and for actual malicious reasons.
@@TheActMan Holy! I wasn't expecting to get a response directly from you. O.O; I'm honestly honored. :D Though, I'm not too surprised that we have the same opinion on this aspect of the issue. ^^; Also, my gosh.. Wasn't expecting my comment to explode in likes either. ^^:
Oh no- Activision absolutely hates their games. Take Modern Warfare 2 2009 for instance. That game is a sweet example of a one and done purchase and boom: you have access to the amazing campaign, the multiplayer in its entirety, and the spec ops. There's only TWO optional DLCs you can get for MW2 2009 that you literally don't need to play it. Activision today spits on a game like that because it doesn't fit with the modern day narrative of making them money. (Hence why it costs like, 40 bucks on steam without a sale)
Man I remember when I started playing MW2 in dedicated servers from Uruguay and Argentina. I'm from Uruguay, and at that time we had no direct connection to Brazil (where the official servers where located), our routing would go all the way to the US and then back to Brazil. So, I could only play COD at 220 ms or at 300 ms (which for a FPS is basically garbage, you can't even sprint). The dedicated servers where SO FRIGGING GOOD. I spent so much time playing Isnipe, even joined clans to do SND Isnipe matches, good times. I remember a server very fondly, where they modded gun game to have 102 guns, with infinite reloads and sleight of hand as a kit. It was so goddamn fun, you even became the AC130 in your own character. This stuff destroyed my social life when I was a teenager, fuck man, those were the good ol' days
Ever heard of Stockholm syndrome? The kids combined with that and there you have your answer. Basically the only way to actually hurt these companies at this point would be to DDoS their games so no one plays their games anynore, since the stupid masses can't help but be fucking morons who settle for low tier bottom of the barrel shit because it's all they know at this point.
Because I like playing MW2, it's a big and fun game. Me and a few million other people. You are just a vocal minority and a very small one. You can be offended by this comment, but it's just a fact.
@John Lemon that's "financial assistance" and they only get about 600/monthly. (I don't live in an area where they give assistance in the form of money to homeless people, so the concept is real weird for me to read about lol)
Imagine if Microsoft or 343 sent a cease and desist to Masterz and the CMT crew over SPV3. Or Inferno over Cursed Halo. Imagine the sh*tshow that would generate.
I think they don't want you to play old titles or for those communities to thrive because it pulls players away from the latest titles. They'd rather you buy Loot Boxes and Battle Passes in those games, so they're incentivised to let the classic COD titles fester and make them as unenjoyable as possible.
Honestly we will probably see old titles getting removed from steam and other platforms already in the near future to increase sales of new games. In their place we will get bad remastered versions and young people entering the gaming world won't know what the old games were. Just look at what Rockstar Games has become for example, very sloppy remastered versions of some of the best gaming titles ever.
trust me, the people who play these COD games in modded servers have no love for the newer titles, thats why they take the time to download the mods and prepare their games for it. I don't think they'll buy the newer CODs even if they shut the old ones down. At least I know I won't.
I could've sworn loot boxes where outright illegalized as it's essentially gambling for children. Don't play any MMO other than ff14 and fortnight anymore though so it's like I'm discovering something good that happened was never the case and the world is complete bs after all
You sure about that? What about titanfall, they keep putting the first one on sale even though the servers have been under attack for years and they just dont want to fix them
What exactly is shady to stop mod developers who had an angreement with Activision ? SM2 Devs own fault, cant believe how people can be so stupid to officially announce that you pirate the game 😂
There's a difference between modders and cheaters, modders often make games more fun. Cheaters ruin everyone else's experience for their own pathetic little ego.
thats been mostly true for a while, before master chief collection there was some really awesome MODs for Halo, but I think they had to shut it down because of the same thing that activision did.
I've literally been in a multiplayer match in BO2 where before the match even started, the start timer is counting down, hacker changes the map to nuketown and force changes everyone's class to a sniper class, and had the auto kill shit on so they could shoot in random directions and instantly kill anyone, dropped tac nukes and was invincible and invisible...I only play multiplayer with bots now
The fact that Activision did many things worse than EA, which is well known for anti consumer practices, is f*cking insane and maybe the award for worst gaming company goes to Activision now
Cod fans are just as much to blame because they actually spent money on those horrible loot boxes telling Activision please be greedy and charge us for everything.
@@thedarksideoftheforce6658 Predatory business practices and enticing people with super over powered weapons and better cosmetics than you could unlock by just playing the game...seems to be the number 1 priority when overseeing development of games
I think removing that operator skin was a good move and not about the money because that skin would have cost money to get. And if they double down on the pride thing by doing that then it reinforces that statement instead of doing nothing
The saddest part is that Activision, basically, has people fixing their older titles for free and are giving the biggest middle finger to them. All their time and effort in fixing their older titles to make them safe/playable just thrown out the window because they were forced to.
They have little incentive to stop them. Hell, allowing them to do that will bring free advertisement and good will They, a multimillion dollar company, is this petty and malicious
They don't make money from older titles. If anything, they prefer if older titles are unplayable. That way, you are feeling like playing COD, you have to play with newer titles.
@@deathshead556 and when CoD actually had some balls. They don't do shit in the newer games. MW2 2022 is fun and all but come on for a supposedly "mature rated military shooter" it's painfully childish.
Let me get this straight, hackers keep managing to get in and mess everything up and Activision seems asleep at the wheel. But when modders, who just want to make the game more fun and safe, get cease and desist messages to keep them from doing something that _helps_ the community? Stupid and stingy. Guess that's Activision for you.
Won't be surprised if the hackers are actually Activision employees or bots. Sent to make old COD games unplayable so everybody who wants to play COD is forced to buy the latest one.
@@akmal94ibrahimXDefiant Needs to copy older cods and stick to that and actually listen to their player base and xdefiant may take over. I love CoD I play competitive, but I’m fucking done with those pedos.
Right I have no idea what these hacks look like but using pre existing loopholes/tunnels whatever the term is the easiest way in as far as my very limited knowledge. Some kind of power user remote control and the hacker just figures out how to control it and gets all its functions already in place. Probably how aim bots and stuff happen. I wonder how much of hacks for games that don't get patched isn't just a separate revenue stream for the devs under the table in a lot a lot of games.
Expecting Activision to do something consumer friendly is like expecting a blind guy to point a direction in a map, and even then a blind guy would probably be more help
Everything they do is from a competitive money making standpoint. And the only thing investors care about is if stocks go up. So to beat last years sale, they sanction off the community. If they block people from playing older call of duty games, then everyone will just buy the new one. What they DONT take into account are the anomalies. I'm talking about XDefiant. And because Activision has beat up its player base to an irreputable degree, and also walled off its classic community, if XDefiant is successful, Activision will go under. Congrats Activision, your greed is about to essentially kill the company

Xlabs was just putting pirated links to their games on their site, they are NOT completely innocent here, but that's a far, FAR safer alternative than playing the officially sanctioned versions. That should have told Activision something!

Hackers have always been a problem for Call of Duty. I remember playing World at War on xbox back in the day, and once I got into a zombies match on Der Riese with a hacker, and after the game ended, they did something to my account that made it so I couldn't even play ANY multiplayer. It said my level wasn't high enough to play multiplayer OR Zombies online. I never played WAW again until I got it on PC years later.
Allowing people to create things like Xlabs can allow judges to make an inference against Activision, allowing bad actors to get away with silly shit. The solution is to sign contracts with people at Xlabs rather than being corporate lawyers and shooting on sight.
And signing contracts would mean having to pay Xlabs and paying Xlabd means the shareholders and exectuctives make a few pennies less billions, and that means they will start murdering devs and cutting open pregnant women to eat their unborn babies...... *allegedly*
Doesn’t matter, lol it’s still one of the highest playing games. Nothing will happen until people actually boycott and major streamers stop. Not even nikmercs stop playing.
I think Marty O'Donnell said it best when telling the goose story. When Marty was out with an Activision exec he mentioned not wanting to harm the Golden goose. The exec said "You know what I like? A nice foie gras."
I heard from a youtuber called Fooly that activision may or may not be purposefully allowing these hackers to infect the older games so you HAVE to play the new ones but if I were me either play offline in the old cod games or dont play cod at all. It's sad honestly because this game was THE FPS game back in like 2013 but sadly Activision turned sour and...well here we are
It’s a real shame how far most big game companies have fallen. Back in the day it was about the quality of the game and the player, now it’s just how much money they can squeeze out of you and almost everything is locked behind a paywall and half the time the things locked behind a wall are unjustified and just there for cash.
This video is awesome. As a older COD fan it makes me happy to see you point out Activision Blizzards hypocrisy and continued stupidity. I’m sure it’s been discussed a thousand times but another mod EA has not shut down so far is the Northstar Client for Titanfall 2. My favorite fps title ever, and I’m currently able to play against real people and not insane cheaters. I genuinely hope EA decides to do a little good for themselves and not shut it down. Thanks for the video ❤
i feel like ABK should be held accountable from a legal perspective for permitting such destructive levels of hacking in their games. it's one thing to have someone shoot through buildings to instakill you and another thing altogether to mess with your PC through the medium of the game. For a developer that is actively charging money for their product, to turn a blind eye and allow their own customers to be predated upon... isn't this aiding and abetting?
The even more shitty part about Activision is how not only they attack modders who want to make older CoD safe to play without fear of getting hacked, but how they still sell you 5+ year games for full price and don't provide any form of support to them. Even EA pulled out Titanfall 1 from stores once they realised Respawn can't combat hackers or allow a modded client on TF2 so people can run community severs. Because of Acti-Blizz, EA looks like they're on their redemption arc in comparison
Not only did EA take down a hacker infested online only game, they didn't decide to send cease and desists to Titanfall 2 modded clients. They had the exact opposite response. Really is nuts. If you'd told me 10 years ago that Blizzard and EA made polar opposite decisions, and Blizzard was the bad guy in all of it, I'd have called you crazy.

Modders are not a threat to maintaining control of the IP. The reason they're doing this is because they always want you playing the newest games only.
This is also the reason why they won’t fix the issues of MW2. They just let them persist and “fix” it for the next CoD to make it more appealing. Then everyone just eats it up and doesn’t realise. I was oblivious to this cycle at first but I’m done with CoD until I see the proper changes I want. Kinda hoping MS fixes them into shape if the deal goes through

Oh I believe Activision had beaten EA since 2021.

@@pepijn23 2021? Nah, Activision has had EA beat since MW2. Anything bad you can say about EA over the last decade, was most likely something Activision had been getting away with long before EA tried it.

There is something similar too that where activision whitelists their streamers too keep the community at large
@@JokerChany I've found that these hackers all come from the same locations as well...
Jev made a very good point and it made a lot of sense. Activision wants us to forget about these games. They don’t want us to remember how games used to be. They want us to forget that games could be made with great launch content and no battle passes. It’s honestly sad and I’m glad I got to experience these titles in their prime.

PET PEEVE:
I don't understand people who don't think critically about this - it all comes down to incentives.
There's no one who hates games more than game companies.
It’s insane that Activision are just letting hackers destroy their old titles and punishing anybody who tries to create safe and playable ways to enjoy them. At this point I’m convinced it’s a deliberate effort to force anyone interested in playing cod online to play the latest cod.
It absolutely is because they can force you to play the hyper monitized garbage instead of the actual good games
It's almost like they want hackers to do this so that people feel like they have to play the newest titles that just so happen to be filled to the brim with microtransactions and deceptive practices that let bad players beat you so that they keep swiping.

I've wondered the same, otherwise I'd still be playing BO 2
It's more they just don't want to put in the effort to fix their older games.
More like they're using these old games as an excuse to implement more and more invasive and anti-consumer anticheats and drms that do nothing besides opening their consumers' systems to vulnerabilities and performance issues.
That is a great theory. I approve that kind of critical eye.

“One thing that we have learned is that piracy is not a pricing issue. It's a service issue,” - Gabe Newell
Activition isn't giving us good services for the old titles even at full price!

It is also partially a pricing issue, there is absolutely no reason a 10+ year old game should still be listed at full price
That makes too much sense
It's the obvious conclusion
Activision needs to be hit with a class action lawsuit over this. It’s ridiculous that they’re selling unsafe products and doing absolutely nothing, let alone even publicly acknowledging the existence of security flaws, to protect their players. Preventing people from playing older COD titles does not incentivize anyone to purchase the latest ones.

The dedicated servers where SO FRIGGING GOOD. I spent so much time playing Isnipe, even joined clans to do SND Isnipe matches, good times.

i feel like ABK should be held accountable from a legal perspective for permitting such destructive levels of hacking in their games. it's one thing to have someone shoot through buildings to instakill you and another thing altogether to mess with your PC through the medium of the game.
