    Crazy that we always discuss the James Harden OKC to Houston trade. That trade effectively destroyed Jeremy Lin's career, since he went from being Houston's potential starting PG to riding the bench and eventually bounced around and got injured as hell. Gives me chills just thinking about the way Lin showed up after being put down for so long. Might as well throw in my two cents about Melo though: Melo has done nothing but a primadonna ball hog who has always stifled the growth of his teammates. A Hall of Famer based on stats and All-star appearances alone, not on being a good teammate or a winner.

    • @user-rd8tl5ej4g
      @user-rd8tl5ej4g 5 років тому +8

      Adrian M-d Its funny Jr smith looked way better with Melo than he ever did with Lebron. Not to mention the only time Lin looked good was with the knicks with Melo on the team. If you had common sense you can figure that mike dantoni deserves the credit. He "stifled the growth of his teammates" this is the same jermey lin that played with Kobe, harden and now the garbage nets and nowhere near as good. And not a good teammate? he was voted the best knicks teammate last season.

    • @stephenforrister4992

      Rob Zack Except now Mike Diantoni is coaching an incredible rockets team and carmelo can't find a place where he fits in. Look I'm a knicks fan, but Carmello never did anything to help us when it comes to team ball

    • @user-rd8tl5ej4g
      @user-rd8tl5ej4g 5 років тому +5

      Kenneth Forrister thats where you are wrong. Melo led the knicks in scoring,rebounding and assits in 2016 and was their best permeiter defender that season. What else you want him to do? They havent had a winning season without melo since 2001? Youre an idiot if you think Melo didnt do anything to help. Hes the reason why Knicks were ever relevant

    • @stephenforrister4992
      @stephenforrister4992 5 років тому +15

      That's completely incorrect like I said I'm a Knicks fan and sure Melo was a good player but he was a terrible teamate that didn't want to share the spotlight, Lin, Melo, and KP could have happened if it wasn't for his selfishness. He was good, but he was never great and he never led us to a ring because he didnt like playing with people that would shift the focus of the spotlight, thr Knicks are going to win a ring now that they don't have to worry about his off-court bullshit, mark my words

    • @stephenforrister4992

      Eddie Fisher Its not Melo's fault that lin's career went downhill after NY & the knicks had their only great season in the 2000's the season after lin left & Melo was an MVP candidate & scoring champ. In hindsight the knicks made the right decision. It was never confirmed that melo wanted lin gone its only speculated. Lin even said he never heard or felt that melo disliked him. Korzemba has always hated on melo.

    Also, Lin was fucked over for being Asian, it became obvious after he didnt get recruited by a top-notch basketball college, or that "ch*nk in the armor" headline. This is just as shameful as the whiteballing of Colin Kaepernick.

    Blatant racism. Very unfortunate injuries, savage teammate politics. I'm not saying life should be fair, part of all the adversity actually made him stronger, but that no NBA team built a starting roster around him as PG before his injuries to me seems gutless. Still an inspiring story. I'll always remember his progress with the Knicks.

      He was a beast at Harvard. I knew him before the whole Linsanity thing because of the Ivy League telecasts on the YES Network and I was trying to glean whatever extra info I could on all midmajors for my brackets. Honestly, he's an extremely skilled, world class player, but to last in the NBA, you need to either be explosively athletic or have the length and girth to play defense, and unfortunately for Lin he's all skill, but no explosive athleticism and has a very slender frame. If he bulked up, he'd lose some of his driving finesse. He's just not anything more than an excellent role player at the NBA level, it has nothing to do with race.

      I really liked Jeremy Lin, it was great to watch him play in college. I do not watch much NBA, but despite being a Uconn fan I really wanted Lin to succeed in the NBA. That said, what I do always find interesting are numbers. If you look at his career average points per game, its 11.9, which places him a little better than in the middle of the pack (109th out of 280) players.
      If anything I would say his race helped put butts in seats, especially while playing for the Knicks. The NBA is a business and is not stupid, they understand trends like "Linsanity" make money. If anything I would argue his race helped him at least for a certain span of his NBA career.
      I tend to believe things like statistics or player politics (i.e. conflict Carmelo Anthony) than over yet again another anecdotal racism claim.
      Lets not forget Yao Ming from China, who had his jersey retired and is in the NBA hall of fame. Racism there too?

    • @andreinybakken9252
      @andreinybakken9252 5 років тому +15

      @@nuticles2002 It's been mentioned time and time again that throughout his childhood and college years he had to face the racial prejudice. His overall season stats being average is also explained by the fact that he wasn't invested in as a starting point guard, which is his designation. With that talent and drive, you can't expect him to take a back seat. I'm not pleading affirmitive action or anything like that. The thing with Carmelo Anthony having that much influence over front office management is just ridicolous. Knicks thinking investing that much in a player who's got them no closer to the one thing that trumps all else, namely the NBA championship. Lin was in the prime of his carreer, Anthony comes back from IR, and decides he can't handle the competition. Showed his true colors, and used back channels to get rid of the competion instead of sharing he limelight, being a true team player for the greater good. How long has it been since they won the finals? 48 and 45 years to date, ('70 and '73). Taken in consideration that the franchise has been playing in the NBA since 1946, that's not a very long time, but it seems to me they're not exactly in a rush to please their fans. MSG has one of the most consistent attendances in the league, still. It's just a shame for the fans being cheated in this way, and I believe J. Lin in the course of 2-3 seasons could've contributed to give a much needed push to the Knicks over say the Miami Heat at that time, or the Indiana Pacers, and against the San Antonio Spurs or the Oklahoma City Thunder. I'm not claiming they would'he had the consistency to beat Golden State or Cleveland. Their roster would've benefitted of a bit more depth, though. It seems the Knicks organization doesn't manage to attract enough players who combine talent and ambition with the humility, dedication and sacrifice it takes to win a championship.

    Only the Knicks ALLOWED LIN to run a team and be the quarterback the whole game, and what happened?
    He made a mediocre team played like everyone was an MVP, team ball even Chandler and Jeffries
    were offensive threats. Every other team he was not given the opportunity to LEAD A TEAM. LIN'S genius
    is his high IQ ON THE FLOOR, deciphering and calculating ways to beat you while making everyone around
    him play better. He was smart enough to make adjustments and even without real playing time experience
    he proved he could win. Carmelo and most Blacks hated him, were jealous he got all that attention and
    discriminated him except his teammates and Knicks fans. Shame on you.

    I was always told that I was a chess player, a drama club member, that I didn't belong on the basketball court. I was always the sixth man off the bench and I was never going to be good at basketball. I never let that discourage me. Watching Jeremy Lin roll through NBA teams with the camera on him made me realize that all you need is an opportunity. I won several trophies in the military on teams that weren't the favorites, including one that was picked last and, even when we had a postseason tournament, we were given the third seed even though we'd won the season. I still have those trophies.
    I coach my grandchildren today, and I likely have a couple of D1 players in my living room. I'm going to tell them never to overlook the price of hard work and really wanting it.

      Philly Nation It doesn't matter if You're a ball hog, a lot of ball hogs have great careers, to name a few, there's Kobe Bryant, Russel Westbrook, Wilt Chamberlain, and of course, Melo, and the problem about Melo is that people forget his days in Denver, where he would consistently average points in the mid 20s, FG%s in the 40s, and around 4 APG, which based on his position and roll in his team's offense was quite impressive, also take into account that he did this with another ball dominant player, in Allen Iverson, on his team

    • @gj3514
      @gj3514 5 років тому +11

      Stoopid Storeez There are two types of ball hogs. The ones that can win while ball hogging and the ones that ball hog and still lose. Melo and Westbrook aren't like Kobe and Wilt cause they can't win while ballhogging. Kobe had to ballhog to win.

  • @dcaseng
    @dcaseng 5 років тому +810

    It all started with Carmelo Anthony, and his decision to throw a fellow NBA player under the bus because he was jealous of a contract, and the attention he was getting.
    Never in the history of sports has there been a player who was willing to throw another player under the bus over a contract that had nothing to do with him. Usually, a player wants to see other players do well financially because it benefits everybody. Just goes to show what a piece of garbage Carmelo Anthony is.
    But it didn't end there, as he ended up on the Houston Rockets, where he would have to endure another ball hog player in Harden, and a dumbass coach who refused to use him properly.
    There was also Kobe Bryant. It was clear from the start that there was a personal Vendetta against Lin because of his popularity, and the fact that he is Asian.
    The guy has consistently shown he has talent, but has never truly been treated as such. He still young, but he also gets hurt a lot, which is a shame.
