- Shanti is 18 months old at the end of this month! We have done so much this year, so I thought I'd make a video!
2024 started with lots of preparation for the belly button hernia op, which was scheduled for April.
We practiced trailer and lorry loading with her to give her positive experiences with that and prepare her for the trip to horse hospital.
We also did lots of treat training with a feather duster to prepare Shanti for being touched around her belly button area and all over her body.
Following the belly button hernia op, Shanti had a long period of box rest and short amounts of turnout on a small area. She was an amazing patient and took everything in her stride.
We then started going for inhand walks, and Shanti has grown in confidence with every outing.
Shanti has been out for trips in the trailer to get her hooves trimmed and is getting used to travelling and seeing different places.
I'm hoping aa she grows she will be less accident prone!! She has been a regular at the vet this year with one thing or another!
We have also cracked the 'rug fear', and Shanti has a new wardrobe of rugs for this coming winter!
I can't believe she is nearly 18 months old. She has grown in confidence - and size!! She is so laid back and takes everything in her stride and has a lovely soul. I am so excited for what the future holds for us!
