Amazing two albums that can be played spot on by the right group of musicians but harnessing that magic that creativity and doing what they all did can never be done again.
These two guys are the only real witnesses of that period of time ( blizzard/diary era) they're two jewels whose memories have to be protected and well packaged
Randy may have toured with Sarzo and Aldridge, great live performers but no way he would have recorded the third record without these guys. These guys were the real Ozzy Blizzard of Oz band. Just as important if not more than Geezer and BIll.
Actually, the plan regarding the next studio record (it would have been recorded after Randy would have been forced to record a bunch of Sabbath songs live, which he was NOT happy about), was to be him, Ozzy, Tommy Aldridge, Bob and Don Airey.
Even if Randy stayed with Ozzy she would have made their sound more mainstream metal. Kinda like Bark at the Moon . That record may be rocking but it sure is not unique like Blizzard and Diary, those are masterpieces even if Diary was rushed because of the crazy tour schedule.
These guys deserve mega credit for Blizzard & Diary. Daisley wrote the classic tunes. I don't know all the behind the scenes stuff, but I think all sides would have benefitted from keep the "band" Blizzard Of Oz instead of making it solo. Sure sounds like the Osbourne camp did not do them right. Just my thoughts...
Diary Of A Madman was brought home by my older hessian sister and it changed my life for many positive reasons. This guy jumped out of the parachute sky jump at Knotts Berry Farm during Halloween Haunt and I just imaged thepsychology of the jumper as this album played and it just etched in my mind of thinking of life death and music on a new level as an 10 year old back in 80 81
That's some crazy shit. I lived not far from there and don't recall but I believe it. Poor guy probably thought it'd be cool to drop some acid before hitting the amusement park. I'll have to look that up.
When i was 16 i auditioned for a band in my home town i wast good but was passiable .the bassist was 47 and i thought old man but his experience made me sound better than i was and got me the gig.i learned so much from this person and he was so supportive of my ideas because of his experience. So i totally see how Bob and Lee were so important to making Randy Rhoades happen. Their years of experience made it possible for Randy to be Randy . Dont ever put these guys down, without them there is no Randy and no Ozzy
Stalwart players & true gentlemen, one of the most formidable rhythm sections in the history of music. It's a crime they were robbed but it's heartwarming to see the camaraderie they share & also receive the recognition that is deservedly overdue from those in the know
I love these guys , respect them , they always say great wonderful things about Randy because they get it , . Its adorable how Bob and Lee are both fiddling with their pens. ;)
Man ,these guys are legends...the real deal!! They would get pissed about so many questions I would ask about their work on Blizzard and Diary and the first UK tour. Take care of yourselves noble men!!
Those two Ozzy Albums were my all-time favorite and most influential as a kid around 13 or 14. And to think all these years because of the cover photos I thought it was Aldridge and Sarzo until last year. I'm 52 now. What a paradigm shift to see the true recorded artists.
I'm your age but I knew who the band members were from day one. Daisley's photo on the back of "Blizzard" pretty hard to miss. I saw the "Blizzard" tour with Aldridge and Sarzo and was like WTF? Then "Diary" came out three months later. I see their picture but I read the album credits and was shocked to see that Daisley and Kerslake recorded it. All you had to do was read the liner notes. That is what they are there for.
Bob Daisley and Randy Rhoads were amazing together. As a young guy I just liked the music. I didn't think about it so much. I just knew that after Blizzard and Diary I lost all interest in Ozzy, although Bark at the Moon was alright. Now I realize how much I loved the layered sounds and subtleties in the music and not so much Ozzy's unusual delivery. I thought I liked Ozzy, but it was more the band. But Blizzard and Diary are the best metal albums of all time in my book because of the rhythmic stylings of Daisley and Rhoads. Rhoads would have gone on to write so much more amazing music, both classical and otherwise. As amazing of a guitarist as Randy was, his real gift was composing. Daisley and Kerslake were robbed by Ozzy and Sharon. She is nothing more that a thief and Ozzy is guilty of the same.

Gud Dergo Tommy Aldridge told Don Arden that he didn't think he should rerecord the tracks.
Kerslake is an inspiration and influenced my drumming. Over the mountain. Best triplet. Ozzy kinda burned sabbath. With this lineup
Bob Daisley is the reason the Osborne's live the way they do today. He wrote everything from No more tears back. People, do your research.
RIP Lee you are one of the greatest drummers of all time
And Lee,best of health to you bro. Your a fckn legend in my book bro. Wish u the best. 2of the best albums I've heard in my lifetime and thank you.
These 2 guys were one of the best rythym sections in rock history!!
My hat's off to these two English gentlemen, total class.
Read your book Bob! Loved it. Thank you! Never realised how much of the backbone you really were to the music I love!
Oh and both are phenominal musicians I cant even put words to how great they are . Thanks Guys
Great interview ! Will have to checkout Bob's book!
He's an Aussie, no wonder he's so relaxed :~)
great guy, great player, great collector !
He is a Poet for FACT SAKE..Without him there would be no OZZY
Most thankfully know what Bob Daisley did, and people is still talking about in 2018.
Yes!!! Give them their fucking due! Hail Hail Lee and Bob. I'm here in the USA and love these two blokes as they say...
Wow, no kidding Donald Day, 18. Same last name as me. 1983. Night before Halloween. Handed his buddy the key to the locker and climbed out. Sick.
2 absolute genuine guys. absolute legends
2 Living Legends - Blizzard Of Ozz was an Absolute Classic 🤘🤘
Lee Kerslake...Uriah Heep Live 1973...wow wow wow
I shook hands with Bob during a stage invasion at a Rainbow concert Granby Halls Leicester UK. Looking forward to reading his book
Bob was a great songwriter/lyricist!
Him & Ray Gillen wrote The Eternal Idol album (Black Sabbath)
Sad to hear of Kerslakes passing......still listen to Firefly and Innocent Victim regularly
John Lawton and Ken Hensley are gone now too.
It's a crime they were robbed but it's heartwarming to see the camaraderie they share & also receive the recognition that is deservedly overdue from those in the know
Those first two records set the tone for the next ten years. Brilliant.
I love these guys , respect them , they always say great wonderful things about Randy because they get it , . Its adorable how Bob and Lee are both fiddling with their pens. ;)
Maybe the deadliest rhythm section in the history of hard rock.
just destroyers on bass and drums.
Theyre definitely up there . Other rhythm section duo also worthy of that title i would mention is Geezer Butler & Bill Ward

I agree. They were something special and Ozzy hasn't had anything like that lineup since.
Bob is awesome.
That elbow nudge by Bob Daisley @ 5:00 priceless.
Hahaha 👍
It's funny how Bob parents Lee during this interview, correcting and nudging him here and there.
Black Death 1347 If you look closely Bob seems to say "Wanker" under his breath after Lee's mini rant on sharon lol
They must be close friends , smoke together drink together, good old friends
Lee Kerslake is an aweinspiring drummer.
My dad has a ticket stub from the first tour. It was billed:
Blizzard of Ozz (Featuring Ozzy Osborne)
Motörhead
