Randy was and is the goat...he absolutely jump started Ozzys solo career and the guitarist after him were just filling shows that were impossible to fill....
I love Jake and Zakk but Randy was the trail blazer. People forget he was plying the way he was with Ozzy beck in the mid 70’s. Randy was a contemporary of Eddie in the club scene. Randy, Jake and Zakk were all huge influences on me when I was a kid and still influence me to this day.
The greatest guitarist that played in Ozzy Osbournes presence he let slip through his fingers, George Lynch is hands down the best guitar player this century has ever had to grace its rock-'n'-roll stages
Thank you Paige, I must agree Lynch is a world class guitarist I like him a lot as well, Great to hear from you Sir. Thank you ever so kindly for viewing as well I appreciate it.
Some would say that George Lynch is a helluva guitar player, one of the best in hair metal, or rock, history. To be beat out by Jake E. Lee says something about Jake's guitar playing. Ozzy coulda done great with either guitarist. I wonder what woulda happened with Dokken if George had got the gig. Would Jake be Dokken's guitarist? Wouldn't that be crazy????? Let's get in the DeLorean and go back and time and see that happen! LOL By the way, in the video, the creator said Jake was replaced by Zakk Wylde after Bark at the Moon. It was actually The Ultimate Sin which was the last album Jake played on.

no , under no condition, Jake did an interview in 2014 he admitted he was intimidated, he knows Randy was that generational talent. How did Warren DeMartini get into RATT< debuting a Randy song in Burbank opening for RATT Jake is awesome but be real
None of the true guitar great were ever intimidated by Rhodes he did nothing new his style wasn't new to anyone and he wasn't a innovator of any kind you better go listen to Steve Howe.. Steve hacket.. Richie Blackmore all playing neo classical guitar long before Rhoads and much better than Rhodes.. listen to that horrific version of EVH eruption Rhodes did on the tribute album it was a train wreck from the very first note
The illustrated picture uve displayed, whilst mentioning joe holmes,is Chris holmes of W.A.S.P....There is no mistaking the custom zebra rhoads Jackson guitars built for Chris in the mid 80's, let alone the image of the guy holding it,in the artists rendition of chris

Excellent video!! One thing that wasn’t mentioned was that Joe Holmes was taught by Randy Rhoads at Mrs. Rhoads’ school. Randy is favorite of all-time!! RIP!!
( Joe Holmes was taught by Randy Rhoads ) Very interesting indeed I didn't know that myself to be honest, I was very pleasantly surprized how cool Holmes sounds TODAY I mean I think he has an album in him big time, Now I know George Lynch went to Randy's Mothers School to teach I wonder If he was instructed by Holmes or vice versa .
@@theguitartemplepriest Joe Holmes is a fantastic guitarist, too!! I don’t think he was old enough to have taught George, though. It might have been the other way, though. Actually, George and Randy competed to play for Ozzy the first time, with Randy winning. George was supposed to play again the second time, but Jake E. Lee beat him to the punch. Lynch is one my favorite guitarists, as well!!
Joel Holmes ,definitely needs to be mentioned, He was in OZZY for awhile ,but never recorded an Lp.He was also the guitarist of Lizzy borden in the 80s,on the lp Visual Lies.Great Video by the way,I enjoy it.

17:29 I'm not sure who did that graphic, but his name is Craig Goldy, not Creg. I was a roadie for Rough Cutt from 1982 to 1985. I know both Craig and Jake. Jake didn't play with Micky Ratt, he did jam with them though. Rough Cutt was fronted by Ronnie James Dio, that's how Craig ended up with him. Jake was actually supposed to join Dio, but ended up joining Ozzy instead. He said all Ronnie was looking for was someone to be a flashy, three-chord player. Ronnie was probably the nicest man you'd ever meet. His wife, Wendy, rented an apartment for all of the road crew off Doheny, not far from The Roxy. The place was a non-stop party. Motley Crue's apartment was about two blocks from us. Jake is one of the funniest people I have ever known. The man has a wild sense of humor.
I remember meeting Craig when he was between bands working at a record store in eagle Rock California just before he joined Dio that guy was the coolest 😎 I used go back and buy stuff just to B.S about Rock n roll he used to talk about steeler,Roughcutt and remember that he couldn't stand the singer for Roughcutt I think his name was Paul shortino I think but not sure 😉
@@roberthoeg1964Yes. it was Paul Shortino. And, yes, Paul was a Dick. Craig was cool AF. Craig really didn't like any of the band except maybe the bass player, Matt Thor. He was really close to Ronnie. He said they were all back-stabbers using Ronnie to get ahead (irony, I know). There was a point where he would crash on a couch we had for our dog at our apartment rather than the apartment they had for the band. The record store period I don't know about. That must have been between gigs with Ronnie and just before Giuffria. His first time with Dio he went straight from Rough Cutt. Rough Cutt was somewhat a talent pool for Ronnie. A way for him to develop players for his band. That's why Jake was his first choice. Jake just wasn't a good match. Jake's playing was far too complicated for what Ronnie was looking for.
@@krkhns yes Craig was cool AF the place he was working at was in the eagle Rock plaza and it was more than just a Record store they had like heavy metal accessories I remember I bought a pair of mesh fingerless gloves and studded Belt he also had a Demo cassette tape he would play for us it was insane he said that it was for RJD,I now remember the name of the store it was called BLACK SHEEP.
@@roberthoeg1964Doesn't ring a bell. But, I'm missing quite few brain cells from that period. Typical Craig, though. Craig is still pretty open. I ran into him on twitter in December and we went on for about an hour chatting about the old days. Passing out the first KLOS compilation album they were on in front of the Troubadour in the pouring rain. It was funny. People were like "I know who Goldy is, but who is this other guy?" Last time I talked to Jake was back in 83 just before the US Festival.

They're all amazing players, so hard to put one above the other as far as just playing. So I'll take the records....Randy played on 2 classic records, Jake played on 1 good, not classic record and 1 dud, Zakk Wylde had a good one and an average record with his first 2 with Ozzy. Randy also gets on a decent live record and Zakk had some average live albums. I'm not a fan of anything post No More Tears. So Randy wins because he was on 2 true rock n roll classic albums.
Lol I hear you loud and clear, but most of these great say like Guthrie Govan don't recall ever not playing they started so young, Steve Vie was 7, as for myself I didn't start till I was 16 and the guitars in those days were so bad it was unplayable till I got one worth a hill of Dam at age 19, Look at Igor Paspalg here on this site I mean it's outrageous or Tina S to play like that so young. In respect I salute them thus I created a Temple to them in my own little way.
The kind of inconsideration of Ozzy towards Lynch.. is not reflecting positively on the way he (or Sharon?) runs his business. I think that in general .."also worked with Ozzy Osbourne"... can be easily translated as "also could use the street credibility and/or money and exposure that comes with a gig like Ozzy is offering".. given the sour dour shitty music this guy has put to record, I think the guitarists in question should be glad their career with Ozzy was either short lived or non-existent.
Jake was replaced after the ultimate sin album and tour, not Bark at the moon. Either way, Ozzy and his evil wife screwed him over on both. Didn't deserve to have Jake anyway

To me and no disrespect to all the amazing axe men that played with Oz but Jake E Lee was the best Oz had. He wasn't a metal style player but he mixed it in with his style and is just awesome. You hear it best on the Badlands albums and later. They all kick ass but it's Jake for me
Randy is Ozzy's best guitarist, but I personally got into Jake's stuff more. His tone and choice of chords was more in line with my Rush upbringing.
Joe Holmes.
I agree with your statement James, Randy Rhoads was Mega Huge in those days, Thanks for viewing .
So three power chords a couple of scales and a whole bunch of E-noise makes you a great guitar player?
Man I got it licked!
Yeah what the heck I’ll give it a thumbs up lol..cheers ☕️
Thank you ever so kindly I certainly do appreciate it.
LOL
By the way, in the video, the creator said Jake was replaced by Zakk Wylde after Bark at the Moon. It was actually The Ultimate Sin which was the last album Jake played on.
Yes indeed I stand corrected, your right about zakk can't believe I said that myself but It was to late so I just keep it there, Lynch Cut his hair That's why he lost the job so said Sharron that is. Hey Great to hear from you Rick and thank you ever so kindly for viewing I certainly do appreciate it.
well let's be honest, Sharon sometimes put look before substance, but Jake was an awesome player. George is too, George is part of the LA holy trinity with Ed and Randy. Jake part of the San Diego holy trinity
Don has talked about Warren being in dokken
When I Created the video it was very late and your correct about zakk, I had posted it and by than it was to late, sorry about that, new video up today by the way hope you like.
Jake was a legend
Cheers
Thank you Danny
Jake is super underrated, he’s not the cleanest player but he has that rock n roll edge that is just different
Thank you ever so kindly for viewing
Jake E Lee is extremely underappreciated....he does not get the love he deserves, clearly ripped off by the Osbournes
@@Dave_Wight_The_Rock_Oracle No doubt, very true.
Im going with Jake is technically the best remember randy wasn't done he was sill getting better just saying but yes what we have jake is amazing but when it comes to licks song structure arrangements i like Randy's stuff way better in fact ill go as far as to say the best music and albums ozzy ever made was Randy's arrangements and riffs
Jeff Beck played on the song Patient No9.
Interesting, I didn't know that, thank you for the information, good to know. Thank you for viewing.
Jake E Lee by a country mile over Randy Rhoads..THE END
no , under no condition, Jake did an interview in 2014 he admitted he was intimidated, he knows Randy was that generational talent. How did Warren DeMartini get into RATT< debuting a Randy song in Burbank opening for RATT
Jake is awesome but be real
Thank you grant, I new it didn't look right, can't believe I did that was late at night and tired I guess, so very sorry about that, Point taken. Thank you for viewing though I appreciate that.
26:36 the headstock looks like it says Harley Benton? Never-mind, its his name lol
@@kylewilliams6184 Yes indeed Lynch is a fantastic Guitarist, Thank you for viewing Kyle I appreciate it.
Joel Holmes ,definitely needs to be mentioned, He was in OZZY for awhile ,but never recorded an Lp.He was also the guitarist of Lizzy borden in the 80s,on the lp Visual Lies.Great Video by the way,I enjoy it.
@@patpolowyk6434Thank you ever so kindly Pat for the kind words of support I appreciate it, Yes indeed I was very very surprised how great Joel Holmes was. He sounds even better today. Thanks again for viewing.
Zak was once a young guy
Lol Yes, I agree. Thank you for viewing I appreciate it.
🤘🏻 🌟 🤘
Jake got cheated out of money but Randy got cheated out of his life! I think Randy rules the roost with Jake right behind him. My opinion of course and everyone has that choice.
Bobby Hayden Jr. Was the guitarist for Ozzy for a brief period as well. Another great guitarist
where did you get that from? he is not mentioned anywhere in Ozzy's history
@@Dave_Wight_The_Rock_Oracle he was kicked out before they started the recording process
@@Dave_Wight_The_Rock_Oracle if you look him up he talks about his time with Ozzy he wasn't there very long at all
Some of those testament solos were great compositions alex was ripping
From watching this video ,my conclusion is that Ozzy treated all guitar players in band ,really bad and did not care about them ..
He liked the one who made him a boatload of cash it seems, he did really care Randy I think, but seems your right all in all. Thanks for viewing Ray I appreciate it.
@@theguitartemplepriest Right on my friend. There's no doubt Ozzy had a real true special bond & relationship with Randy Rhoads back in the day. I also believe Ozzy & Zak's friendship was & still is today very real. Just saying... +Peace Rock n' Roll 4 Your Soul My Friend+ 🤘😉🤘
Joe Holmes played with Ozzy. Long before Gus G 😜
In my opinion it's zakk 1st then Jake then randy.. But love em all
I was born the day Randy Rhoads died 💔
Toni Iommi wasn't "Ozzy Obourne's guitarist" by any means. For me, Jake E. Lee was the greatest.
JAke wasn't at Randy's level.....
Tony is so underrated. What a true gentleman
how is he underrated he is viewed as one of the greatest guitarists of all-time
Incorrect, bud. Zakk came un after the Ultimate Sin in 1987.
You are right
Jake's last Ultimate Sin, Zak's first No Rest...Ozzy had another guitarist on one tour with a very young Robert Trujillo, the guy was a tall white skinny punk looking kid...never new his name. Enlighten me with his name.
Joe Holmes
When u bought u joe Holmes ur pic of chris Holmes
Your right, my mistake, thank you Travis, I Created the video very late at night must have been tired lol, thank you for viewing though i appreciate it Sir
George is still my favorite
@@krkhns understandable it was in 1983 I'm surprised that I have enough brian cells to even remember that far back, peace out Brother! Forever 🏃🤘👹
You were wrong about Jake E Lee. You said "after Bark at the Moon". He left after The Ultimate Sin. Also how do you not mention Joe Holmes was a student of RANDY RHODES
You are indeed correct, I cant believe I said it, a mistake on my part, I guess I was tired, but your right . Thank you John and also thanks for viewing.
I know you must of had tons of details to keep track of but Randy had just turn 25 not 26. Keep up the good work!!!!!!
If that's what I said I stand corrected, thank you Sir & thank you for viewing so sad Randy had died in such a way, a great Musician indeed.
Gus g is a legend too
Where is Holmes?

I'm sure it was just a small mistake, but Jake did 2 albums with Ozzy .

@@onemancarnage Well thank you ever so kindly Sir, appreciate it, I Have a new video going up within the hour, this one you will enjoy .
Jake was voted cause most dont know Randy he was a much better guitarist
Tony Iommi was not Ozzy’s guitarist, Ozzy was Tony’s singer.
Truth in that statement, Thank you Gary for viewing I appreciate it Sir.
John 5 stated in an interview about playing with Ozzy "Well, it wasn't really an audition. I just helped them, I don't know where Zakk was or what was going on but, you know, I just played a little guitar, it wasn't really an audition."
As you have mentioned Steve Vai and other greats that have collaborated with Ozzy. Binding Contracts are a "Bitch"... only so much you can say... and Sharon cakes on it. Whose to say J5 had a part.... and can't say. Thanks for vid... keep em going!
A very balanced and informative viewpoint Sir, Sounds like ( Been there done that ) are you involved with the band ? ( Binding Contracts are a "Bitch" ) I think everything you said is spot on, your very welcome by the way and I will indeed Keep the video's coming , Jake was asked by Sharon to come back I understand but Jake said give me credit for bark at the moon and I will, He should have just come back just for the sake of it, but I guess the answer was no. Joe Holmes needs more credit then he gets
the reason he does not is because he never wrote an album and he is a Randy Rhoads student
Bernie Torme was a pretty good guitar player when he did his own thing!!! (Style etc.) Wow!!! I think he's amazing !!!😊 I dont think Bernie replaced Randy!!! I think he filled in so Ozzy could finish the tour!!!! Randy Rhoads is irreplaceable to me!!!!😊 The other guitar players are filling in to complete "The Job" !!! Like contract workers!!!! @theguitartemplepriest I just recently listened to Bernie Torme music!!!! Definitely a player that didn't get his due!!!! Underated!!!! He could also sing!!!!🙂
@@michaelbujanda8785Must admit that to myself also lol.
Jake said once that it all takes the right pedals and guitar
Jake all the way!
Interesting take, and quite reasonable, I can agree with this, thank you for viewing Steve.
What was the contest.....Jake is not beating Randy in any contest.
Greetings Dave, great to hear from you, no it's certainly not a contest, just the general line up, I myself was a Randy fan .
I'll always believed Ozzy had Randy hit by Mossad cuz he was gonna leave the band.
Zakk Wylde is a BEAST.
but he is probably the third best
Bernie Torme was Irish...RIP...great guitarist!
He wasn't pretty enough for Sharon.

These guys piss me TF off! They make it look so easy... yet its fk'n NOT! NOT in the least! Yes i am a jealous bastard!
You said "Gary Santrell"....smh
Yes, lol, My Apology, I new his name yet said it wrong at The Yard
