Just got mine last weekend, haven't had a chance to play with it though. I also have a DDJ-SX2 and Serato, but got the XDJ-RX2 so that I can get accustomed to the whole CDJ/Rekordbox workflow for future gigs.
Once again, another fantastic video for the beginner,no fancy terminology or complex explanations, just straight talking on a level that everyone can understand. I'm sure there are hundreds of people out there that have progressed watching your videos and appreciate them too! #positiveeducation Keep up the good work!
Hi J..I'm a so happy XDJ-RX2 owner..and that it's absolutely stunning! I've made a big big big jump because I've been blacked out deejing its long long time..my last mixes was about Bandolero, Steve Arrington or Billy Ocean 12"..now I'm back on streets and what we're able to do by theese devices is incredible.. And yes..I agree with you on ctrl future, no laptop anymore..
Hi, I own the xdj-rx 1 and used it now for more then 2 years for my gigs every w-end very good unit and never had any problems if you know how to use it. I tried with all kind of dj software aswell for test with laptop....but to the end these days I still cannot trust a laptop. The new ddj 1000 is a nice peace ...but again you need to use rekordbox dj to make it work, it's a shame. But I think it's just a business thinking from Pioneer. If they come out with a standalone 4 channel controller with cdj nexus jog wheels for a cheaper price they will not sell their high end products anymore. It's sad but just a question of business ;-)
I was considering a standalone mixer, without the support of a laptop, but i just found out this consolle doesn't support FLACs, that's very silly, for me, half of my library is in flac. I'm considering now the xdj-xz that does read FLACs with the update of march 2020, why doesn't Pioneer add an update too to rx2?(sorry for the repetitions) If you were in my place what would be your suggestions? I've already seen the miracles of Prime 4, but i'd rather prefer pioneer to gain and stick confidence in djing, even out of my room. Any tip is appreciated. P.S. Very good videos, keep goin
Hi would you mind doing a tutorial focussing only on the monitor (the different pages and functionality) and another one focussing only on the pads (the 4 different selectable options). Thanks
I've got a DDJ-RX and tomorrow I'm going to demo a XDJ-RX2 and see if it's for me..! It's not that I don't like the DDJ-RX but I really just want to get away from the laptop, I expect that doing away with the laptop will bring the fun back! My only concern is that the DDJ-RX seems to have more FX to play with so I just hope I dont miss em'
The title for this video is spot on - This unit has been great for me getting back into DJing. If you only mix on 2 channels, it's basically the ideal single unit to have. It's also amazing for house parties, just WAY easier to setup and get going with compared to bringing a series of decks and a mixer, and not needing a laptop is golden. However I'm now trying to figure out when to sell mine, purely because I direly need to introduce a 3rd deck into my mixing, and that'd be my main warning to anyone. If you know you're only going to have one setup, and you will want to use 3 or 4 channels, the tricks ellaskins showed us (kudos mate!) will NOT satiate you. Maybe if you're just layering in mixes that aren't hectic it's doable, but if you're actively bringing channels in and out a lot, the workarounds on the RX2 won't cut it.
Love the easy record feature on these RXs right on the USB stick. Does that also record any of the additional audio you run through it beyond just the 2 decks using rekordbox - ie. does it record the mic and aux channels if you used them during the mix / recording?
Hi Ellaskins, I’m thinking of purchasing this or the Denon Prime 4 Controller. One question (which I know the Denon can do), but can you KEY match on the XDJ-RX2? As I will not be using a laptop when out, just the memory sticks. Can you key match in Rekordbox, then export the tunes onto the sticks with this info so the Pioneer can match?
I haven't found a solid tutorial yet using the RX2 with turntables. I mean, yes, there are a few videos out there but nothing to write home about and maybe that's simply because there's not too much to it. However, if it's something worth talking about, I sure would love to see a video of yours going over that specific feature.
@ellaskins As always great video. If a person wants a modular set up to get a 4 channel mixer - are the xdj700’s worth it? Can’t add the xp1 to them for cue pads :( In Canada it’s $1550 for djm750 mk2 and xdj700s are $900 ea. Total is $3350. So that’s about $1100 more than a xdj-rx. Xdj1000’s make it even more expensive. A mixer can host different deck options over time as your preferences change. With a xdj-rx - you’re kind of committed. I’m torn
to be honest a set of 700 would be the same as buying an xdj-rx2 with the 700 you need to touch screen to get to the hot cue function while with the xdj-rx you have the actual pads to hand
Thank you for the video, I own the rx2 and it's a great mixer. I am totally with you...true words at the end of the video. Keep up the good work and thx for so many helpful hints you give in your chanel
Bro need help from u pls.yesterday I bought rx2 but am not got any rekordbox video license just only got the rekordbox DJ Bt dnt known why?pls tell.me.the reason
I had demo on this and I came to the conclusion I didn't like the digital pitch on this but its great and other DJs will luv it I'm sure, I went with ddj 1000 tho
i absolutely agree about the stand alone player...thumb up and i am waiting for one like this...currently using numark nv2 and it is great for me but i am missing a usb or ssd plugin..for the backup if something goes wrong with the computer...for backup i am current using another 6 input channel mixer and on another channel another computer or a phone...just to restart the computer or a controller...for now i never had problems with the NV2 or computer...but anyway..must be prepared..if i only had 1 stand alone player with the usb and a 2 input mic and of course with all the features working on Usb...and not to pay all of my money for it:).. thx for all yours vlogs...they are the best!!!!
Hello and congratulations for your video and for all the other videos you do, you're really very good !!! COMPLIMENTS! I am a 40-year-old boy, and since I was 16-18 years old I was passionate about House and Tech-House electronic music, I had 2 Technics 1210 turntables and a 4-channel Gemini mixer, and an amplifier and 2 JBL speakers 400 Watt, but then for personal reasons, unfortunately I had to abandon my passion to be a DJ for personal reasons, I was almost 20 years away from Djing 😞☹️ but now I have more time and I want to start playing and playing again. DJ, in fact I bought a console-all-in-one Pioneer Dj XDJ-RX2, 2 Pioneer monitor speakers RM-07, is a beautiful HDj-X10 Pioneer DJ headphones, but honestly I do not understand much about this new digital technology, I was left to the analogue, that is with the turntables, and for me now, everything has changed, however there is no problem, because I always have a passion for music 🎵 🎧 and I want to learn this new way of making music with Digital instruments, computers etc etc ... 😄😊☺️ I after buying this is XDJ-RX2 console I connected it to my home PC, (Windows 7 (last package) but unfortunately after I downloaded Rekordbox DJ, the music that I loaded in the Rekordbox DJ softwer comes out in a horrible, unlistenable way, scratches every moment, and it comes out twisted ..... 😳🤔🤔🤔😞😞 yet I have configured everything as Pioneer DJ advised me, but when I connect the XDJ-RX2 to the Pc I get so nervous that I close everything !!! 😤 I let it go all day ... because I do not understand where I'm wrong ??? 🤔😞😤 I also inform you that my PC is a PC with 4 GB of RAM 250 ssd, and is a dual core! but I think that there would be a good Macbook Pro (Laptop) to be more stable! what do you think about it? I also saw in the Rekordbox DJ softwer that there are many functions for a DJ, but how do I use them if I go to do a Party with the console and the laptop? That is, all those functions can be managed directly through the console or I have to "touch" even the laptop to take advantage of effects, samplers, etc. etc.??????🤔🤔🤔🤔 Can you give me some advice? I always see your videos with pleasure, and you make me in a good mood! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼😊 that's why I wrote to you !!! Could you help me to understand where I'm wrong? I would be very grateful to you !!!! 👍🏼☺️ let me know .....
It’s not exactly practial as someone already pointed out. Plus, it’s the original 2000’s from 2009 so while i do have the USB the only features of Rekordbox i can use are quantized loops and making playlists. With the RX2 i’d be able to use *all* the features of Rekordbox and also bring it with me to gigs. The only downside is that the jogwheels are smaller. And while it is only a minor complaint, CDJ’s and mixer is much more *visually* impressive than an all-in-one controller. Afterall, It’s what you see all the Top DJ’s using.
Personally, I almost got the RX2, but decided against it. The lack of FLAC/ALAC support, being unable to play 24 bit files, the lower end mixer component, and the lower end jog-wheel prompted me to decide against it given the $1700 pricetag before tax. For many others it is a good solution though. I just think Pioneer didn't do enough on this new iteration and hopefully the RX3 will fix that.
I believe you are right, the days of needing a laptop during a set or gig are numbered. I remember the first time I caught a live laptop mix in the early 2000s, the feeling was of "wow, is this happening now?". Indeed it was happening and it became the standard. So shall the amalgamation of all hardware and software into one unit...
If I knew what I know today, I would never have chosen a PC or Mac based controller. I have an RZX hooked to a ridiculously powerful and modern PC. RBDJ and RZX they plain SUCK. How nice is it when you just lose your master output for no reason...and so many other silly things happening all the time, I wouldn't even wanna waste my energy mentioning. If you don't swing 4 decks at one time, buy RX2 and ditch the fucking laptop. The only thing you should use a laptop for, is to suck files from it, if you think a thumb drive is fussy. This new DDJ-1000 is just another laptop DJ-ing guys!
I like what you saying in the end! Never been a fan of laptop-Controllers, this standalone unit is just killer!
Just got mine last weekend, haven't had a chance to play with it though. I also have a DDJ-SX2 and Serato, but got the XDJ-RX2 so that I can get accustomed to the whole CDJ/Rekordbox workflow for future gigs.
Hello, I have a little bit more of the left part of that machine. I hope have the rest of the money in few months. I, m exciting!
Once again, another fantastic video for the beginner,no fancy terminology or complex explanations, just straight talking on a level that everyone can understand.

glad you like it... Pioneer know they did a big PLUS with this little baby!
ellaskins Can you use a 500GB External Hard Drive in any of the USB slots?

20:25 Can you do this in slip mode as well? Or won't that work because you're in a loop? 😉
So you say in ya other vid that you can’t usb a 2000. But can a rx2. So why is rx2 not industry standard then if there’s more options on rig up inputs
Do you need rekordbox in order to use this or can you simply plug in and play?
Hi would you mind doing a tutorial focussing only on the monitor (the different pages and functionality) and another one focussing only on the pads (the 4 different selectable options). Thanks

On my MEP-7000 I can plug a USB hub with HDD and a Qwerty-keyboard. Is that possible on this device to?
Late reply ,can you allow the loop to be more than 4 bars ?
Bro need help from u pls.yesterday I bought rx2 but am not got any rekordbox video license just only got the rekordbox DJ Bt dnt known why?pls tell.me.the reason

I had demo on this and I came to the conclusion I didn't like the digital pitch on this but its great and other DJs will luv it I'm sure, I went with ddj 1000 tho
Is there a way to turn the sensitivity up for the jog wheel ?
yes, should be in settings

Would love to see it come to life with RekordBox!

I’m considering selling my CDJ 2000’s and DJM 850 and buy this. Should i?
ReboyGTR Well this one is quite a compact standalone deck, but well, if I had the choice I would always prefer to use CDJs
I would keep your set up as you too have the USB.
It’s not exactly practial as someone already pointed out. Plus, it’s the original 2000’s from 2009 so while i do have the USB the only features of Rekordbox i can use are quantized loops and making playlists.

why does the unit look bent??
Commit I'm so glad someone has said this. I thought it was me going mad
Commit He uses a Fisheye lens
I think that at price point of the xdj is still better buy a denon mcx8000.
The price is better than the demon mcx8000?
Loved the Swedish House Mafia bit you put in there
This or the new ddj1000?
the question all of us make, I like the feature of not needing pc to play, but the issue of having 2 channels kills me
Tomas Lebenbaum i dont have a issue about having 2 channels , but the thing that makes me love the ddj 1000 is tjey cdj layout
yeah but you have a cd layout in a controller functionality, if you dont mind the 2 channels then go for the rx2
Tomas Lebenbaum how different feels the rx2 platters to the cdj ones?
of course the cdj platters are way better, but if you only use them for beatmatching and not for scrach, then the rx2 platters are more than ok
I believe you are right, the days of needing a laptop during a set or gig are numbered.

We need the new DDJ 1000 with standalone USB and 2 screens (or 3) :)
joakim safstrom that would defeat the purpose of the nxs2 system

I think days of laptop is numbered
if someone shoves their ipod in front of your face you take it off them and simply stamp on it and hand it back
like it :)
I believe you xD
