- Xi'an City Wall is 13.74 kilometers long (8.5 mile). The City Wall of Xian is the largest and the only complete ancient city wall in China. Xian City Wall exhibits the complete features of the rampart architecture of feudal society. The heritage site is in the tentative list of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites.

As I have said a couple of times, a must visit the City Of Xi'an to have a deeper feeling and understanding of Chinese Dynastic history. I walked along the entire inner side of the wall that took me 2 hours. It was exhausting but awesomely inspiring.👍🇲🇾
Great to hear that you have visited Xian. Next time, you can plan a day trip to one of the Tang Dynasty Emperor's tombs.
I watch every documentary on castles and fortifications but this is the first time I've heard of the Xian city walls. This is so impressive on the scale of Constantinople, amazing yet so few have heard in the west.

Xi'an city wall is so beautiful. Luckily, some of China's great history such as this Xi'an city wall is saved to this day for future generations to learn and be proud of their history and civilization. Beijing City wall and Nanjing city wall are not so lucky to surive. So sad that these pieces (Beijing city wall and Nanjing city wall) of beautiful Chinese history have been destroyed. When idealogy and i g n o r an ce rule, huge damage to history and culture can badly be done forever.
Nanjing city wall survived but it is not complete, broken into different sections but still the longest preserved city wall

If you visit you can rent a bicycle on top of the wall and ride all the way around. It’s a great experience!!

Why are all the shots taken from a mile away?
I'm glad they did it this way so you have a birds eye view of the scale of the whole thing. Too many documentaries zoom right in or do constant jump cuts that you have no idea what and where they're showing.
Preserve your past not destroy it.

@@chihoang4085 Here is a video of Nanjing ancient city wall and gates. It is not as gigantic as Xian’s and not rectangular but it is longer.

I don’t think you hv ever set foot in China. The city is called Xi An. Not XIAN.

Why watch out for Mongols? The Mongols collapsed after being defeated by the Song Empire, and Ali Buge was destroyed by Kublai , the Yuan Empire established by naturalized Han culture.
Without millions of northern Han warlords and the high productivity of Han armor, artillery and iron, what can Mongolia do to conquer the Middle East and Eastern Europe? After Europe was defeated by China's advanced firearms and armor, plate armour and guns were developed.
