Great review. I'm 55. My Mum read the edition you had. She told me about this vampire book as we were travelling on holiday to Wales in the UK. I was so intrigued. I must have been around 9 years old. However the book metaphorically bit her on that holiday. We stayed on a caravan park. One night we'd been out to the local town and returned to the caravan and settled down to sleep. However my Dad had left the lights on in our car. The owner of the park noticed this so to prevent a battery drain kindly decided to go to our caravan and knock on my parents bedroom window to inform them. My younger sister and I were in bunkbeds next to their room. We still talk about my Mum's scream and going into their room to see my mum in total shock holding her sheets while the confused face of the caravan owner looked through the window. Great book. The audio version is probably my favourite version of this story. So atmospheric and well narrated. Looking forward to this. I hope it's as good as the trailer looks.

I love this! It almost sounds like the set up for a new Stephen King novel!

I read the book at age 10 right after I saw the movie. I have the original copy of the book and the second copy, as well. The book scared me more than the movie did!!

I think this looks VERY good. It hearkens back to the original series which is a classic. It has that same eerie vibe with amazing imagery.

I saw the 79 mini series and is scared the crap out of me. I then got the same novel that Burk has. The 79 version is my all time favorite horror film. This new one looks great.

    Nice review
Read the book as soon as it hit paperback, so probably 1977...had heard alot of good things about it and it definitely lived up to the hype.
    Quickly became a Kingaholic 😊.
I've read virtually every King book, got 7 more to completion,, and a lot of them more than once..
Was there, front n center for the Hooper mini...haven't yet seen the 2004 version.
Can't say I was all that hyped for this new one, especially after everything it went thru.
Not to mention that it's a sprawling book whittled down to a less than two hours running time.
...but this trailer...is fantastic: moody, atmospheric, gripping...I've gone from ambivalence to intrigued.
    I don't have Max...but we'll see

I think I'm gonna love it, I did love the 2nd remake with Rob Lowe that was great and I liked Rutger Hauer/Barlow was great it wasn't a vampire and he looked more like someone you wouldn't suspect that would kill you. It was great I hope I like this one.

Like Burk, this was the first Stephen King book I read and I had a very similar experience with it. I was 12 and this was my first adult novel. It totally blew me away. Didn’t realize a book could do that! He made something so far fetched (vampires) seem real. By the way, I have lived in Maine all my life, a lot of those years in Bangor/Derry. I’m really excited to see the film. It looks to be very authentically New England.

I love hearing about how Stephen King affected all of us for so long! Have you ever seen King in person since you live there!?

Yes, I’ve run into him several times throughout the years. He is a big movie buff so not unusual to see him there. I’ve also gotten several books autographed. He wrote, “remember, they only come out at night” in my copy of Salem’s Lot.

I find everything to do with this film very strange ,The Book was written 1975 ,I was Born in 1975;,This has been my favourite horror ,since I see the mini series when I was a kid ,I would tell everyone I met who was interested in film to watch the original,
The new version been filmed in Ipswich USA ,I was born in Ipswich England

The original is SO good and effective. Scariest vampire story (and movie. AND vampires themselves!) ever. This remake looks incredibly promising as it appears to be paying homage to King’s and Tobe Hooper’s original theatrical vision. Coming correct with vibe, atmosphere and vamps. I really hope they stick with that approach for Barlow. I won’t say anything about the early 2000s Rob Lowe version lol.

I'd like to know why the new Susan looks like Velma out of Scooby Doo. That's not how Susan looked like in the previous two Salem's Lot movies.

Well…I’m not sure how to put this in a way that’s not too shocking, so I’ll just say it. ALL the characters look different from the other two adaptations because they are actually different actors playing them. Please prepare accordingly!
      Just playin ✌️ 😂

@geoffjoffy If you read the book(going on the assumption that you haven't), she actually looks very similar to how Stephen King described her. The 79 and 04 adaptations haven't captured her novel character very well.
