While serving for 39+ years in the U.S. military, I painted approximately 100 aircraft mural images. And your grandfather was one of my inspirations. The images on the Molly Hatchet album covers were stunning! I thank you for keeping his legacy alive!
I have to shamefully confess, I am not a book reader. But, in my youth, I used to browse bookstores just to see the Conan and Tarzan paperback covers. Then I would imagine what the stories would be about. I also recall my brothers having a few comic books with Frazetta covers. These too had me mesmerized, only to be slightly disappointed when the artwork inside did not match the covers. Oh how I’d like to see a graphic novel with all of the pages containing Frank’s artwork. That’s why I thoroughly enjoy the animated Fire & Ice.
Your grandfather's art covered my walls when I was growing up in the 70's. My parents even bought me his art books when those were published. Somehow sadly, my brother ended up with the hardback books and lost them😢. I Sub'd! Look forward to more amazing facts and sci fi intrique. Thanks do much! Great job!
I had the honor of meeting Frank Frazetta once. He was a great man to talk to, and he signed a couple of Conan comic books for me. Thanks for keeping his legacy alive
Terrific episode, Sara, thank you so much for doing these. I've loved your grandfather's work since I was a kid back in the '70s, and over the years I've come to appreciate them more and more. I have no idea how many "Frazetta Girls" there have been, but I'm certain that you were his favorite.
Had the honor of meeting your Grandma at the museum in 2006. She was a real sweetheart and was great to spend the day viewing all the great art Frank created in person. Thanks for putting these videos together, it's nice to hear the back stories to his work and Ellie's support in making it all happen.
Frazetta is one of my favorites and a big influence/inspiration to me as an artist. I first discovered him as a little kid by looking at and reading through my father’s Creepy and Eerie magazines back in the 70s.
Met Frank many years ago at a show and a true gentleman and great artist, we all had a good laugh as both our names are closely spelled a long lost cousin..lol your doing a fantastic job with keeping his legacy alive.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
"Inspiration struck"! I cracked up! I wonder what the inspiration was! And, wow! You look so much like your grandmother! And, man, the more I learn about your grandfather, the more I like him!
Thanks again, Sara, for another enjoyable video. I love learning about the behind-the-scenes struggles your grandfather underwent to stay faithful to his vision.
For six years I had a relationship with a woman I met when she was 51. She was the only woman I had ever been with who looked like a Frazetta girl. As a figure sculptor, I was in heaven.
Wow, that is wonderful. I am seeing so much that your grandfather, Frank Frazzeta, did that I did not know about. I can look at his art with adoration for long periods of time.❤
Frank was an inspiration to me as an artist. His bold contrasts between the light and Dark, and his use of opposite colours made me the painter I am today. Godspeed Frank🎨
Your Grandfather was the reigning Titan for more than thirty years and one of my personal artists Heroes. Thank you for keeping the man and his work alive.
I was introduced to Frazetta's artwork in 1963, at the age of 13, when I found a copy of Creepy magazine. The art just blew me away. Frank was the only artist I've ever seen that could put the color blue into human skin and make it look like it was supposed to be there. I still have the original issues of Creepy and Eerie magazine. Thank you for this website!
I've loved Frazetta for 50 years! I have many of your grandfather's posters and wooden placards with his art resined on. His work strongly influenced my own fantasy art exploration. 😊
Those Battlestar paintings really caught our attention when we were kids. We knew and loved Frank's work but it wasn't main stream until Battlestar, and all us kids were so impressed!
Thank you! You folks are doing good work keeping your grandfathers memory alive. Keep it up!! I was first drawn into sf/fantasy as a teenager with your grandfathers original Conan covers! After all these years, I cannot imagine a world without Frank Frazettas influence. He left his touch everywhere!
We wouldn't have the Frazetta museum and the market would be flooded with knockoffs if Frank would of sold out! Robert Rodriguez showed me my first glimpse of an original Frazetta painting in person with his rolling art gallery in Austin back in 2015, and your grandfather was right! Priceless works that deserve to be cherished, and It makes me happy to see it payed off in the long run with his grand daughters passing on the flame and keeping his name alive.
Awesome story. Sara, I do so look forward to your vids and I gain new and even greater respect and admiration for your Grandpa’s life and work. Thank you again!
I have always admired Frank's protectiveness of his art. Sara you always deal with this in a very tactful way, I would have loved to be a fly on the wall for some of those conversations between Frank and the Power Brokers. Battlestar was a great show. I love Frazetta's Battlestar art.
Thanks for teaching us about your granddad. It's always good to hear when someone isn't willing to censor their art. Didn't know he had such an amazing granddaughter too. Subscribed!
Huge fan of his art. I bought the Molly Hatchet album way back when...because of Frank Frazetta and the Death Dealer painting on its cover. A bonus was I liked the music, too.
Sara, your granddas art inspired me in many ways. Im sure you have heard this many times. so i thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting me learn more interesting facts about one of my heros. keep killing it.
Very interesting story on this. Hats off to Frank and Ellie for standing their ground, business wise, and coming out on top!!! I think a lot of people mistakenly think that art and illustration is all fun and games. Reality - it's like any other business, and you have to fight to keep your inspiration, motivation, and integrity.
I never saw any significant similarities between the formerly fantastic Star Wars franchise and the dud that was Battlestar Galactica, though its potential was clear. THAT was most likely the motivation for what was essentially a frivolous lawsuit, plus placing more financial burdens on an already VERY expensive TV production. BSG's potential was not realized until 2004. Anyhoo, I recall seeing the art work in the newspapers if memory serves and per usual, it was immediately recognizable as to who the Artist was. Frazetta, The Hildebrandt Brothers were two of the most immediately recognizable artists of exceptional work. Back in the 70's & 80's their work seemed to be everywhere, at least in my world. Surely before and after that, but man - such consistently remarkable work!
Frank Frazetta's art just raised stories and movies to epic quality! Love the expressions on the pilots faces in the "Scamble" painting, and I think granddad really pegged Richard Hatch . Thanks Sara for another fun show!
I'm first beginning to see your fabulous video about your fantastic grandfather, Sara , so now I have decided to take the opportunity to watch the video every time you present it to us !😊 Thank You for this opportunity to get more profoundly and deeper into Frank's inspiring and phenomenal work!🙏
I had no idea this channel existed!! Your grandfather's contribution to art and culture shall never be forgotten!! I couldn't hit the subscribe button fast enough!
As you start down the stairs to the garage Dark Kingdom hangs in front of you, with Death Dealer on the side wall. I originally had them both as puzzles in the 70s. They disappeared while I was in the Army. Still turn people onto his art.
Hi! What up!? After your interview at Beyond Wednesday with Bryan, Im glad I sub'd up, cuz this vid -the best part is how Frank knew the significance of retaining ownership of the originals. Think about it, Prince had to change his name, around the time Jack Kirby died right, both those cats regretted giving up ownerships big time, as famous as they both are -every dog has his day. Frank Frazetta is going to become more and more renowned, he is soo overlooked. Let us see... Tell the story!
The OGs who stand for their rights are beacons to all of us. If not in career, the attitude is applicable to every day life. Know your worth! Michael Jackson is another example like Prince. Vultures out there. You have to stand strong and speak up and out. Thanks for being here!
In the 60s and 70s aa a young boy i loved art and comic books and drew quiet a bit and well Frazetta was one of my art heroes and the Frazetta girls definitely did not go unnoticed . In my last year of hi school 1975 i met a very curvy gorgeous clean cut beach bunny hippy surfer girl right from the beachs of Southern California, South Orange County she was definitely a Frazetta girl 34D+, 28 , 36 athletic thighs , sorry 😬 , exactly how frank drew them . Fell madly in love married and still madly in love . Thank you for these i miss Mr Frazetta .
Another great episode. I’m slowly reading and enjoying my Taschen Frazetta book, and hope to come across some Buck Rogers art, as Dawn Attack and other art pieces give me the vibe he’d have loved to have drawn this franchise too.
Wow... I've noticed the channel before but this is the first time I watched. I had no idea you are Frank's grand - daughter until now! I've been a fan of Mr. Frazettas art since I first discovered some of his paperback covers in the mid - 60's. I was inspired enough to go off to art school and be the "next Frazetta" .... Not a chance. I'm still awe struck by his work. Thanks for doing this video, now I have to go back and see what I've missed!
Huge Battlestar Galactica fan Sarah. Great job. I remember Frank's painting for Battlestar Galactica way back. Such a unique interpretation and huge inspiration at the time.😂❤
I’m a fan of horror and fantasy, but in Sci-Fi, the only thing I love I sci-fi is Star Wars, Star Trek and Doctor Who, it’s a battle ship of Galáctica that I love( love space ships) and remember that arts , it’s so beautiful masterpieces arts, thank you history lessons
Thank you very much for the insight on the behind the scenes information. Frank Frazetta was an awesome designer of dreams of my youth. His paintings of science fiction and fantasy were a big part of my teens.
I'm so glad you mentioned that there were four BG paintings. I had those TV Guides, and remember the first three paintings showing up in the magazine close to each other, and that seemed to be it. Then, a while later, the fourth painting appeared to promote that particular new episode. It was like a "bonus" painting.
I have been a big fan of your Grandfathers work since I was a kid. I remember the first time I seen his work was on The cover of Molly Hatchet's album Flirting with Disaster. I was also a big Dungeons and Dragons player I fell in love with his work even more.

Hey, Sara! Another great episode! So nice to learn the complete story about this group of sensational Frazetta paintings that I've always loved. I'm old enough to have actually watched Battlestar Galactica when it originally aired, and I was thrilled to see your grandfather's paintings used to promote the show. Gotta say, I never liked Star Wars, so I was happy to hear that Frazetta turned it down. I always thought it was really overrated -- a three dressed up as a nine, with big-budget production values but a lousy, derivative story. It took a hell of a lot of nerve for them to sue over Battlestar Galactica when you consider how much of Star Wars was ripped off of Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers, and Jack Kirby's New Gods. And speaking of Buck Rogers, the "Pharaoh's Tomb" painting always seemed to me like it was actually a painting of Wilma, Buck and Doctor Huer, disguised as a Galactica painting. Not that it mattered, because it was my favorite painting of the lot! Thanks for your efforts to keep your grandfather's life and work in the spotlight. I've been a huge Frazetta fan since the mid-seventies and I've always considered him and Norman Rockwell to be the two greatest painters of the 20th century, in spite of the vast differences in their subject matter. Frazetta's sheer talent and uncompromising artistic integrity have made him an inspiration to countless artists throughout the last fifty-plus years, and hopefully that legacy will continue for many decades to come.
People say how iconic Ralph McQuarrie's artwork is for _Star Wars_ that it's hard to imagine someone else doing it, especially someone who's art is very female-centric, or whatever term you prefer.
I loved the OG Battle Star Galactica as a kid. I thought everything was super cool. The four paintings are epic and probably show us a glimpse of the worldbuilding that could have been.
I’m a big fan of his artwork! It’s partly because of his artwork that I decided to go into art… I love his work in John Carter of Mars artwork, and Tarzan book covers!
My, "Top 5" Artists List: 1 - Frank Frazetta 2 - H. R. Giger 3 - M.C. Escher 4 - Salvador Dali 5 - Frida Kahlo (I have a, "thing" for Fantasy/Surrealist Art). Frazetta was a powerful influence on me as a child in the 70s... His Art helped define what I would always consider to be my ideal of what a strong, beautiful, and feminine Woman should look like... ;)
Given the way that most creative and artistic folk get taken for a ride by the money men, I have to respect your grandads ability to literally tell them to eff themselves - being willing to walk away from a pay-cheque is never an easy thing when you don't have a 'normal' steady job :)
While serving for 39+ years in the U.S. military, I painted approximately 100 aircraft mural images. And your grandfather was one of my inspirations. The images on the Molly Hatchet album covers were stunning!

Sara you just keep killing it. Thank you for keeping this alive. Beyond cool.
Thank you so much
So much respect i have for Frank. Retaining his work and being protective of his art is inspiring and refreshing to hear! 👏🏻👏🏻👊🏼👊🏼
Very happy to see this, been a fan since I was a teenager back in the 1980s.
Your grandfather's art covered my walls when I was growing up in the 70's. My parents even bought me his art books when those were published. Somehow sadly, my brother ended up with the hardback books and lost them😢.

Thanks do much!
Great job!
I'm so glad I found your channel. I've always been a huge fan of your grandfather's work. He was in a class by himself
Incredible series! Frank was an incredible inspiration to so many artists and teenage boys!
I had the honor of meeting Frank Frazetta once. He was a great man to talk to, and he signed a couple of Conan comic books for me. Thanks for keeping his legacy alive
Absolutely loved this glimpse into Frank's behind the scenes dealings with studios. Thank you, Sara!✌️😎

Battle Star Galactica was fucking AWESOME! I grew up with this awesomeness.
Just. Subbed. I'm a long time fan. Glad this popped up in my feed.

Thank you for the sharing ..and for being so amazingly magnetic !🙂❤
Mr. Frazetta has always been one of my favorite artists. His paintings have sold a lot of books and fantasy/horror magazines.
Frazetta is one of my favorites and a big influence/inspiration to me as an artist. I first discovered him as a little kid by looking at and reading through my father’s Creepy and Eerie magazines back in the 70s.

Your grandfather's work hangs on every wall in my studio. Magical inspiration for me since I was a kid 😎 ❤
I believe I bought a few Monte publications in Sturgis 2005 or so. Mermaids as content. Be well.
"Inspiration struck"! I cracked up! I wonder what the inspiration was!
And, wow! You look so much like your grandmother!
And, man, the more I learn about your grandfather, the more I like him!
I've always loved Mr. Frazzetta's work. My favorite SF/F artist by far. Thank you for keeping his art alive.
Thanks again, Sara, for another enjoyable video. I love learning about the behind-the-scenes struggles your grandfather underwent to stay faithful to his vision.

I loved the Frazetta museum when it was open, got to visit once. Grew up on Frazetta art in the 70s and 80s.
The museum was right in the path of the hurricane, very glad to see you made it through, I was wondering.
A fantastic video chapter! You would have thought you have been doing this for years with how well everything flowed ! Great stuff!!
Those Battlestar paintings really caught our attention when we were kids. We knew and loved Frank's work but it wasn't main stream until Battlestar, and all us kids were so impressed!

Excellent episode!
I learned about Frank from the John Carter of Mars books that I purchased from The Science Fiction Book Club back in the 70s.
I loved Battlestar Galactica! I had that Colonial Viper with the launchable missile.
love getting this history behind art I've loved for many decades

Absolutely! Thank you for being here and sharing your time with Rodriguez seeing the Frazetta originals.

I think a lot of people mistakenly think that art and illustration is all fun and games. Reality - it's like any other business, and you have to fight to keep your inspiration, motivation, and integrity.
So true! The two are intertwined. One can't get too blinded by passion. The balance is everything.

Frank Frazetta's art just raised stories and movies to epic quality! Love the expressions on the pilots faces in the "Scamble" painting, and I think granddad really pegged Richard Hatch . Thanks Sara for another fun show!
Well done! Thanks for keeping legacy alive
My first tattoo was Frazetta's Dracula. I was an adult before I learned that he lived less than a hundred miles away from me.😂

Wonderful episode! You’re doing great by your grandfather . Well done!
Thank you so much for watching!
These episodes are excellent. I'm shocked that there aren't 150K subs!!! Thank you for everything you are doing!!
Sara, Thank-You! so much for sharing. I have a huge library with your grandfather's art on many much-loved book covers.

I owned several Fazette magazines .. and cherished them! He's A Wonderful Talented Painter, No Doubt ! Thanks for the video.
I love this story ! Frazetta's an old school Brooklyn guy! forget about it! lol i am glad that he retain the rights to his originals!!
It's interesting how Frazetta knew ownership rights and wasn't allowing ABC to take advantage of him. Many artists were not so aware.
OMG, nerdy me clipped all those ads from TV Guide and kept them in a photo album back then. Long gone, long gone.
I have been a big fan of your Grandfathers work since I was a kid. I remember the first time I seen his work was on The cover of Molly Hatchet's album Flirting with Disaster. I was also a big Dungeons and Dragons player I fell in love with his work even more.
Frank was a man of principle. God bless him.
Yes, that he was.
I just love that he said 'fuck your show'. You can tell he did not suffer fools well. Great episode. Frank is so interesting and cool.
He was such a bad ass. No one could control him because money did not matter to him. A beautiful freedom to have!
Sadly "fuck your show" is exactly what ABC did to Galactica.
I have the Gun On Ice Planet Zero softcover book and always wondered what episode the book cover was for because it was so outrageous!
Imagine the path Star Wars would have taken if Lucas had just said: "Ya know what? Let's do it. Let's treat this like a creative partnership.".
Sadly George is not known for being collaborative like this.
Loved Battlestar Galactics. Thank you for sharing.
Awesome Thanks Sara!!!
Wow, I remember seeing those ads in tv guide. Never knew he painted them. So cool.👍
Awesome to learn about this art; I had no idea. Those TV Guide ads would be great framed on the wall!
Glad he stuck to their guns. Still one of the best fantasy artist ever.

Star Wars was a complete rip-off of the Japanese story "The Hidden Fortress".
People say how iconic Ralph McQuarrie's artwork is for _Star Wars_ that it's hard to imagine someone else doing it, especially someone who's art is very female-centric, or whatever term you prefer.
Fascinating episode revealing such insights from my favorite childhood shows!!! Thank you Sara!!
I loved the OG Battle Star Galactica as a kid. I thought everything was super cool. The four paintings are epic and probably show us a glimpse of the worldbuilding that could have been.
Perhaps the Frazetta art direction would be have a bit heavy for kids but hey, I watched Fire and Ice when I was 5 so who is to say? :)
Well Done....Bravo . Keep the stories coming.
I’m a big fan of his artwork! It’s partly because of his artwork that I decided to go into art… I love his work in John Carter of Mars artwork, and Tarzan book covers!
The pictures are beautiful, I have admired them many times on the internet but knew nothing about the artist behind them.👍
Glad I could provide some context!!!! Thanks for being here.
Fantastic story. The perfect start to the weekend. Ty
Great episode! Thank you! I remember seeing those in TV Guide and in some other sci fi magazines at that time if I remember correctly! All the best!
Some of the greatest art that I can think of..inspired the movie Conan The Barbarian from 1982..and the comic book art of great artists..
Very interesting episode! It's a shame Lucas and Frazetta could not come to terms, those would have been some epic posters!
Your Grandfathers work was my childhood. He was beyond a doubt the best. Period. Thanks for reminding me!
My, "Top 5" Artists List:

(I have a, "thing" for Fantasy/Surrealist Art). Frazetta was a powerful influence on me as a child in the 70s... His Art helped define what I would always consider to be my ideal of what a strong, beautiful, and feminine Woman should look like... ;)
Love to all! And someone just had a birthday! Hope it was GREAT! Loved his Battlestar work!
Good to see you, that's some cool history/storytelling about your grandfather.😎
Given the way that most creative and artistic folk get taken for a ride by the money men, I have to respect your grandads ability to literally tell them to eff themselves - being willing to walk away from a pay-cheque is never an easy thing when you don't have a 'normal' steady job :)
Awesome history lessons! Thank you.
Excellent, and great story👍
Very well written and presented!
