I love that you don't romanticize the interactions between the icons we know and the icons we really don't know. So many would play up those interactions, while the reality is usually so much more mundane. The reality is so much more, well, realistic. I grew up with Franks art and seeing him as a real person is refreshing. So many would glom onto the mythos that hearing the reality of the situation is much more genuinely inspiring. Not every thing is as Hollywood as it may seem from the outside. Thanks for the dose of reality regarding the icons of my youth. They were actually real people doing business, and doing it well. Please keep it alive... and real.

Glad to get a little more background info. Frazetta will ALWAYS be my primary artistic inspiration. I remember coming across the B: G themed images in one of the Ballentyne(?sp) books and always wondered what that was about, because the likenesses of known stars were unusual in my experience with Frazetta's work. You’re doing an EXCELLENT job of presenting your material. It’s quite a feat of oratory on a time limit. But the material is fascinating. The first glimpse of your grandfather’s work I got was when I was in my early teens, when one of my brothers was getting into the Conan novels, and the cover art was so compelling. I swear, between Frazetta and Petty girls, I became a “rump & ankles” man at the dawn of my puberty. Lastly what was the Frazetta stance regarding Boris Vallejo ? I say ‘stance’ because his artwork, though very good, always looked like he was trying to out-Frazetta Frazetta.

Frank's work is always an inspiration! I'd love to know more about the artists that inspired him and where he found inspiration for creating his paintings? Did he turn to the works of antiquity or other contemporary artists? Was his goal to reimagine the traditional conventions of both his period piece works as well as science fiction and fantasy works

In the 60s and 70s aa a young boy i loved art and comic books and drew quiet a bit and well Frazetta was one of my art heroes and the Frazetta girls definitely did not go unnoticed . In my last year of hi school 1975 i met a very curvy gorgeous clean cut beach bunny hippy surfer girl right from the beachs of Southern California, South Orange County she was definitely a Frazetta girl 34D+, 28 , 36 athletic thighs , sorry 😬 , exactly how frank drew them . Fell madly in love married and still madly in love . Thank you for these i miss Mr Frazetta .

Hiring Frank Frazetta to do artwork for Battlestar Galactica is like hiring Michelangelo to do artwork for Scooby Doo. I'm sorry it doesn't work. I watched Battlestar Galactica waaaay back then and it sucked. Cheesy, dumb and only slightly entertaining with very few new ideas. My opinion, if you liked it, more power to you.

I loved both Star Wars and Battlestar, although Battlestar had weakening storylines/plots toward the end of the series and, regardless of cost, may have been running out of ideas that could retain viewers. I had a crush on the blonde Laurette Spang who was Starbuck's love interest and a "solicitor." We had a family bakery I grew up in, and at 13yo I worked the front and helped customers. One was(as it turned out) Spang's mother. She gave me a signed photo on a visit. Then one day, in came mom and daughter.😳 Honestly, she was beautiful (but toooo thin). About a year later in my junior year of HS, I fell hard for a charismatic brunette and its been brunettes ever since.❤😂

I have to shamefully confess, I am not a book reader. But, in my youth, I used to browse bookstores just to see the Conan and Tarzan paperback covers. Then I would imagine what the stories would be about. I also recall my brothers having a few comic books with Frazetta covers. These too had me mesmerized, only to be slightly disappointed when the artwork inside did not match the covers. Oh how I’d like to see a graphic novel with all of the pages containing Frank’s artwork. That’s why I thoroughly enjoy the animated Fire & Ice.
