I had a 2012 Utopia and it was good for about 8oz. Anchorage makes those 16%+ BA stouts that are amazing that I probably could drink 48oz of them easily. PROBABLY hahah
yeah I miss those 22oz bombers from STBC. I reviewed Farmer's Tan when it was an imperial lager. They re-used the name for a light summer beer the next year. The original Krampus was great too. They called it an imperial munich helles but it was more like an imperial IPL. Now all they make is faux pastry stouts.
~~~ I cracked a Dogfish Head Barrel Aged World Wide Stout back in December that had been hiding in my cellar for some time. 18.3% and was a little boozy with the first sips and then just got better and better as it opened up. I have a 2020 Black Tuesday that is 19.3% in the cellar. Got that back when it was affordable LOL. Interested to see if that has improved with age. I have found that the really well made beers hide the ABV rather well. Good topic. CHEERS !!! ))))))))))))
We had the 41% Sink the Bizmark from Brewdog. It was interesting, it was an experience but it wasn't great. Not going to be a repeat. Cheers!
Sounds like we have the exact same thoughts on that haha. Cheers!
Highest ABV beer I’ve had was 2016 Black Tuesday from The Bruery. 20.3%. It was very good
Samuel Adams Utopia which is like 27 or 28% yeah it was great.
I got two bottles of Brewdog Strength In Numbers. 57.8%. Really wasn't that good, but better than the other crazy high Brewdog abv beers I had.
Based on the StB that I had at 41%, I am not surprised that a higher abv one from them was not tasty. Glad to hear your thoughts!
Dogfish 120 minute, i think close to 18. It's really good, i didnt find it boozy at all. Complex.
I had a Utopias once a year or so ago, don’t remember the ABV. Last high ABV beer was Invasive Species Crocodon at 16% ABV
Hmm I don't think I know that Invasive Species Crocodon. I'll have to look it up. Cheers!
I have a couple of bottles of utopias and haven't gotten to them yet but I think it's probably black Tuesday @ 20 or 21 abv and it was great. Cheers 🍻
I think you are going to really like the Utopias. And good call on Black Tuesday. Cheers, Billy!
Highest ABV “beer” I’ve had was Snake Venom from Brewmeister. It was 68% ABV. Wild. Not great 😂
My highest abv beer was chocolate reign from the bruery at 21% i enjoyed it. Dont recomend drinking the 750ml solo hah cbeers
I think both of those beers get WAY better with age for sure. Let me know your thoughts when you do try them. Cheers!
