- To many people who haven’t caught brown trout before, you probably have been looking into the wrong place. I would say 99% of the trout around New York City are stocked trout. The only way to catch one is to find out where they were stocked. By far, massapequa lake is one of the very few place I know that you can find brown trout. If you are dying to catch one, this is your last chance before it gets too warm! And, don't forget to be nice to those fish, and people!

Kids are the best
The brown trout there are stocked and you can keep them. The brook trout there are native wild ones you have to release them.
I see, yeah, I am not against keeping fish, but personally I d like to release them, so someone else can catch them and have better chance to have a good time
@@gofishingwithmeofficial People watching the video will think they're allowed to keep the brook trout since you and those kids said they're stocked. But they're not stocked they're wild ones that have to be safely released by law. There are signs on some of the trees along the creek stating this.

Awesome video! I plan on heading over there to fish this weekend; I have never been there before so I don't know where I should Fish. I looked on google maps and it looks like a pretty big body of water. Were you fishing on Massapequa Lake itself or Massapequa preserve? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Have fun! I am not very clear about the accurate accurate name, but if you look into the video description, you ll find the GPS location of where this fish were caught. Try this red house and the spillway few minutes walk to the east. If you cant find fish there, just walk up to the creek, you ll find some bridges!

The lake is part of Mass. Preserve. There are 4 lakes going north/south connected by the stream

@GoFishingWithMe I figured as much! I grew up in the country then moved to the city when I was older...didn't like it. I tried for 10 years. Moved back out here to South East Missouri and don't ever plan on going back to the city! Keep up the great videos!
