More appealing? I replaced my cabinets 17” screen for a 20” dell because it’s a better monitor , I made my own lit marquee because they need one and I swapped all buttons and sticks because the stock arent as good. The only appealing thing I did was install a pi3b and then a PC.
Looks great, love the mod and graphics, I personally would black out the silver trim, black vinyl it if you decide to change it, then if u prefer the silver you can always peel the black off, easier then painting and taping the monitor off for painting
Wow! I watched your first video when you got this cocktail cab. and now this latest video and am truly amazed! The mods you performed make it into what it should have been to begin with. Great job!
yea the 17" monitor had me lurching over the cabinet more to see the games better and it was a becoming a uncomfortable for long sessions with my height.
I kinda like the ‘pop’ the silver outline gives, but seeing how the rest of the cabinet is a sweet stealth mode black, i think painting it will keep it a continuous smooth flow 🙃 stay safe, 😷🦠 another awesome piece for your collection. Keep me in mind when you need to move a unit or two to make room for the new systems in the future 😉
Here's a thought, integrate the silver. I'm watching a whole lot of pawn stars right now and I can see the silver looking really nice, especially if you integrate it into the theme. Maybe replace the buttons and stick with sanwa aluminum parts so that they more or less match and ties the cab together.
Hey COOLTOY great video thank you. I have been waiting for modding ideas on this. Can you do a video going through the install and setup of Arcadia please? Take care
Was the 24" monitor you were testing 16:9? Did you consider a 16:10 monitor, which you could get in a larger size and have less black bars in cocktail mode? I haven't tested this in MAME or anything ... let me know if the numbers below make sense. I want to get a larger screen as well. Keep up with the great content! :) Original 4:3 is .75 Cocktailed 4:3 is 3:2 .66 (.09 difference) Cocktailed 16:10 is 10:8 .8 (.05 difference) Cocktailed 16:9 is 9:8 .88 (.13 difference)
yea the 24" monitor I originally tested was 16:9 I didn't really look into the 16:10 because I was trying to keep the monitor spend price around $100 or less
Cool mod, I'm almost done. I did a 19 inch diagonal monitor cause thats what I had. My woodworking isnt great, and i need some molding to cover my mistakes. Do you have a link for the molding you used around your monitor? Thx
I’m very impressed...note you can also plug in usb fan to the monitor usb..save some room also yes paint them bezels black will blend just right in..love it man...good job.. 👌👍😎😉
Yea I love those USB ports on the back of this Dell monitor, they are very handy. I typically plug in my USB LED lights into those USB monitor ports when I install these monitors in the Arcade1Up cabinets.
Awesome job with this What build of coinops arcadia 6 and MAME are you using with it? I see many versions of arcadia 6 - which one is best for the cocktail? Thanks
I want a glass top on mine. They scratch so easy. I'm thinking of putting my ps4 in it with a kickstand for the couch and horizontal controls with 20' do you think I can go bigger? Great job BTW looks kick ass!!
depends on the aspect ratio you want to go with. If you want widescreen 16:9 then 24" is about as big as it gets. For 4:3 ratio I don't know of anything bigger than 20" available for purchase currently.
I'm using a Dell 2007fpb and I'm getting a "out of range" message on the monitor, any idea how to resolve this. The emulator doesn't have a 1600x1200 option which is what the monitor is requesting.
Hi I love the mod on this. What do I need besides the Monitor to swap screens and keep the Arcade 1up sticks and buttons. I have the SF2 CAPCOM H2H Black signature series Cocktail still in the box. Also is there a easy way to mod this without pc to play kid friendly games like Pac-man for my youngest two.
COOLTOY, thanks for all the great content! Been watching your stuff and a sub for a long time but this is my first comment/question. For this Optiplex PC, do you also have a graphics card installed or just what's onboard? Thanks!
Hey Cooltoy, I'm getting my cocktail cabinet on Monday and Ive been spending the day researching and preparing for modding it. The big thing I'm stuck on is the Arcadia 6 customization. It looks like you are using the stock front-end and not the vert, correct? How did you get it to rotate vertically? And how did you add games to it?
Yes I am using the stock version and not the vertical one. I rotated the image in windows by hitting Ctrl + Alt + and a directional Arrow. This allows you to rotate the windows display any direction you like. Once I did that I simply went into the Arcadia file folders on the computer and added and removed the files I wanted.
Where did you get the dimensions needed for the overlay? I'm looking to do a similar mod. I really want to switch out the standard Street Fighter graphics. Just Not sure if I'll upgrade the monitor yet, looks a bit difficult.
yea it really impressive how much these little optiplex computers can handle with the built in intel graphics. One of the many reasons I love using them so much.
have you tried snes in cocktail mode i wanted to play mario kart but iv tried many versions of mame and i can get the arcade to work and some other consoles nes sega just not snes for whatever reason if you or anyone else has any idea if or how this can be done would be awesome
I am curious did you create an access panel or have the monitor flip up to get inside the cabinet if necessary? I know on the upright 1ups, I have modded one and put velcro fasteners to take off the back panel and that works well, but accessing these cocktail cabinets with out pulling everything apart looks hard. Any info would be helpful
I’ve not had any reason to get inside the cabinet since building everything. I can add games over WiFi so I haven’t had much reason to think about opening it up
Do you remember the dimensions for the top of the table.. Is it possible to put a bigger tv inside the table? I don't want to open the box if I can't use my old tv
Nice! Inspirational! I’d like to upgrade my Arcade1up SF2 H2H cabinet using a 24” 16:10 monitor, but keep everything else original. But how do I connect the original game board to the monitor if there is no HDMI, DVI, etc output? I see lots of info online by people who change out everything, but not keeping the rest original. Is that not possible? Or difficult/expensive?
To use a non stock monitor and keep the original PCB is possible but way more trouble and cost than it needs to be to pull off. This is why people tend to use PCs or Raspberry Pi's to replace the existing Arcade1Up board.
Arcadia6 vertical or straight arcadia 6? Did you just copy your mame over as is from launchbox setup so the settings you had made for cocktail stayed? There are A LOT of games that have a cocktail option and i already set them up in my launchbox setup. Wouldn't want to have to go through that again.
I used Arcadia straight and then rotated the image in windows from horizontal to vertical. Yes I just copied my mame stuff over from the previous launchbox set up I had.
Switched my Linux based cabinet to CoinOPS, cant get my N64, Wii, or gamecube to run anymore. Did you have to do anything to get it to work? Works fine on my much newer pc, so assume it is video card related.
So for ps2 or dreamcast games could you also do the mirrored cocktail mode for those? Or is it just exclusivly for MAME. Thank you and keep up the great work!
I have done this mod and I’m fairly new and can’t seem to find anywhere to get display options to even show up. I have no experience in MAME and I tried downloading Arcadia 6 and Next and can’t get that option for video. I’m using a dell 24in with 16:10 aspect ratio. Everything else works great just can’t get cocktail cab mode. Someone please help!!!!!!!!
COOLTOY I’ve done that. And video isn’t even an option. I see you have it done but i can’t figure it out for the life of me and streets of rage is what I tried it with. I only get cheat codes, and in game controls but no video options
I love your table. I love a overkill the game all over. But is it easy to do for a person that is not so talented like you. I want to do one cheaper but easy for me to do. But I love it
individual systems guess you would just have to hit tab to change if you want, but initially controlling coinops with these encoders are you at 360 controller config in coinops or default config or other...and I see there is a diagram on amazon on the encoders you used and to know which buttons you put to what labels. SE ST are obvious, but where the back was put that actually worked and the other buttons. Didn't know if the way you set them up initially made it work with coinops right away and didn't require re-mappin for individual emulators since coinops uses the same controls across the board.
@@flpennstater305 I'm using the default config for coin ops. For all the MAME games I have my back button configured to "UI Cancel" in the mame settings to allow me to get out of all those games, and then for my RetroArch emulated games I have the start and select buttons configured as my hot keys to back out of those games. Pinball FX and Ultra Street Fighter IV both have dedicated Exit menu options within those games so I just select those with action buttons to back out.
What version of mame does it take to get genesis and snes into cocktail. I have mame64 but no option for that with tab in game. Do you just copy over the exe files with the new one?...or all the mame files
yes, only certain versions of MAME support the cocktail mode. You'll need to find the MAME folder within coin ops and replace the MAME application that is there, with one that supports the cocktail mode
You're forgetting that Pacman doesn't come with 6 buttons which is what a lot of the games that he plays need that are not just dependent on 2. This saves him from extra work and just a quick button swap.
