Mama Nurse Tina in about to have a reductive surgery on my bits next month and this along with the overnight pads saturated with aloe with lidocaine in the freezer... but I wouldn't have known witch hazel was okay to put in it too. So thank you very much.
It’s horrifying knowing what motherhood is truly like. I can’t believe there are people out there that think that childbirth isn’t a traumatizing thing 💀
@@SavvyRatKing my mom chose to give complete natural birth 3 TIMES. With me she didn't even have any time for any medical help because she said my head was already coming out when she was in the elevator.
Nurses who give you these types of tips are the best! Since they've been through so many births, they have learned tons of tricks to get you through it.
people like you, who normalize post-partum experiences and shed light on these very normal things every woman goes through, changes how accommodating, aware, and understanding society become. so thank you
As a man who doesn't need this information but still desided to watch for what ever reason. I have a new found respect for any woman who has carried a baby
No men need this friend they need it they all need it you all have a mother or know someone who’s a mom in some way shape or form lol this is how it is. This is what women go through for our babies ❤
@@jimbuhlim2674 So do you expect us to help them use the toilet or? I mean I would but thats not typically needed Edit: I do realise most men will benefit from these shorts and such, but as someone who gets the gist of how hard pregnancy is i also do not need this information but watch it anyways lol (i am gay and do not have friends or family who have given birth)
I helped my wife through this, can confirm most guys overreact about how bad they have it. I helped my wife walk, cleaned everything for her, got her all her food and snacks and whatever she wants. It was really easy and nice. Needless to say she's only getting more beautiful every day and our baby is the light of my life
Funny enough I was never more in love with my wife then when i was helping her with this while we both laughed our asses of making SpongeBob references
I helped my wife with this for both pregnancies. She had a rough first 1 and a really bad second. Could hardly move for days. I made her “super pads” put the ointment on and all that. Cleaned the blood. The birth of our children was the greatest, hardest, toughest things we’ve been through but I would help her all over again. Yes fellas it’s not pretty to see, the aftermath is hard to see but I’ll never let her go through anything alone. Suck it up fellas. Help your woman.
You are so right. I've taken every opportunity to pass that around since I went through all this. It just wasn't talked about, no one prepared you and it was scary and painful. I didn't want anyone I knew to have to be shocked and scared. Pass on that knowledge
@@etherealrosegold Delivery by c section, or vaginal? Mine was vaginal. There was some tearing, which is normal. I'm not sure one pad would've been enough, lol. I used little pads on top of big pads to make sure I didn't make a bigger mess. 😅
my wife had to deliver both our children via C-section. I remember her being so embarrassed because I was taking charge of cleaning her after the bathroom for the first week. I told her, "I've seen your internal organs laying on your stomach. what's a little blood and poop after that?" she was mortified, but she laughed.
@@ambry99 it sounds corny but she's my best friend. our motto has always been "you and me against the world" because a lot of the time it's the truth. we only have each other to lean on but I wouldn't have it any other way.
@@ambry99you are blessed to have each other! Pls cherish each moment! Some of us had kids with devils incarnate. No support especially at your worst moment!
I really appreciate someone like you who is willing to demonstrate some of the unflattering realities of childbirth for an internet that can be so cruel to anyone doing anything even a little embarrassing just so you can help and educate others :))
Me too I was lucky enough to have a nurse help me my first time putting together AND showed me the right way to clean up, not everyone gets that. I was also lucky enough to go to a hospital that has MASSIVE pads so that last part was educational for if I don’t get that next time. plus that witch hazel I didn’t know about, definitely investing!
I've never been so grateful as I was to the labor nurse who ushered me to the bathroom and quietly and kindly guided me through these moments. I felt so seen and cared for in the aftermath of childbirth
The poor nurse that helped me my first time..... She helped me pull up the diaper, and SOMEHOW blood went allllllll over her arm. I was mortified. I started crying and apologizing. I kept saying I don't have any diseases. She was wonderful about it all.
Right after my c-section, I asked a nurse if she could wipe me off before I put my pad/underwear on. I felt so uncomfortable and I didn’t know if I could do it myself. She did it without a thought and I will always remember how grateful and cared for I felt. That was just one nurse in a 6 day stay. Nurses are angels and words will never be enough to say how much I appreciate them.
Im actually getting more and more excited now that UA-camrs are being so transparent about the process. I watch nikadiwa, a Asian mom and Nigerian dad channel, and I feel like it’s taken away a lot of the fear surrounding pregnancy. Now, I know it will hurt but I’m still excited to be a mom someday.
will it hurt? absolutely! the kind and length of pain varies (natural labor vs. induced, natural birth vs c-section, episiotomy needed vs not needed) but htere will be some. But I can assure you that it will all be worth it and unlike the love you will have for our child, pain cannot be remembered. I was in a lot of pain and had a lot of complications but I do not remember the pain itself, only that I was in pain. Regardless I would have done it all over again.
Even though this lady was an absolute joy- I got very emotional during this video. Im 9 months postpartum with my first and carry a lot of birth trauma. The nurse I had literally handed me all these items and said “go pee” after I gave birth 2 hours prior and I would have given anything to have someone explain this to me. So glad this is here for other women.
I'm so sorry to hear that. It can be so overwhelming and then even more so if your birth was traumatic to you. I appreciate the comment, but am so sorry you didn't feel supported during your postpartum period
I got my self a postpartum care box and it was the only instructions I got about how to do any of this. Also it had ice packs the hospital didn't give so that was heaven.
@@tylerrichard5295ok, I've had my fun. It's important that women are capable of relieving themselves during the healing, and can't be released from the hospital until they know they can. Peeing is now of an acrobatic struggle, but #2 struggles can be another problem.
NONE of the nurses explained this to me for my 1st born! Everything about my after care was learned on the fly when I got home & researched things on my own! THANK YOU for being one of my biggest helpers!!!
No one warned me that during the first shower, when you've finally been allowed to get up(I had emergency C section) you could and probably would pass blood clots the size of baseballs. I pulled that emergency cord so fast lol. The nurse on duty was in there in a hot minute and looked at everything and said. Looks good and normal if it's bright red and flowing, then worry. I was kinda appalled at the huge mess tho lol But after that shower I didn't have any more giant ones like that.
I was told this, but not how to nurse. I kept asking but I was totally ignored. After I got home-24 hours later, not 48, I was so frustrated and so was my son. The only advice they gave me was “Whatever you do, just don’t give him a bottle”. Really? I eventually gave up, gave him a bottle, and my sweet husband helped me not to feel guilty about it. I wish I’d had the internet when I had my kids!
@kellyanne7225 I had a horrible la Lache league lady who tried to just strong arm me about breast feeding. I just called my sister amd she helped since she breast fed. But in 80s almost no one wanted you to breast feed. My mother and grandmother were appalled. Only poor people breast fed. 🤦♀️ But in their defense I could only have goat milk. Couldn't digest cow milk well as a baby. My daughter breastfed til 6 months both the older grandkiddos cuz of her job. But when the baby accidentally popped out here(the older 2 are 12 and 15. Mr man is 3)she owned her own business and I was the full-time day care for him too and she breast fed until 2 1/2. He still would if she let him. Hes healthy and huge and I wish that more information was around but at least I could help my daughter. Like no one taught me how to break suction when she didn't want to let go but was done etc. My sister helped a lot.
Same! I had 3 epidurals and emergency forceps delivery after the midwives literally forgot about me! And zero aftercare! Didn't even get a health visitor come see me until I had to remind them I had stitches and then after than NOTHING! Had to learn everything myself and deal with baby when I couldn't walk unaided for 3 weeks due to the epidurals causing nerve damage which I still have issues with 13 years later... I don't understand why in this day and age women are still not recieving proper care and guidance after having a baby!
My first trip into the bathroom after my c-section I was so embarrassed. I told the nurse I would clean up the floor. I started hemorrhaging in recovery and the doctor was called in. After awhile everything stopped. I stood up to go to the bathroom with the help of two nurses because of the amount of bloodloss, a huge clot slide right out. It looked like raw liver. I was mortified. I was crying and hurting and the nurses were so sweet. They even explained that the medicine they gave me in recovery was the reason and it was good.
I had that happen too, but I didn’t tell anyone. It was massive but didn’t fully come out until I went to the bathroom. I was embarrassed and kept it to myself😥
28 years ago, I blood-trailed to the bathroom, because I forgot to put my pad between my legs & waddle into the bathroom..I was barely 19, and in all my pain & anxiety, I forgot the “rules” the CNA had given me. CNA walked in, saw the blood, and stopped me to stand there and drip, as she scolded me, loudly, firmly, & continuously, in front of my husband, my roommate, & her husband! All I could do was stand there in a growing puddle and cry. I’ve been an RN for almost 20 years, and have had a lot of “inconvenient” messes to clean up, but I have NEVER treated anyone like she did that 19 year old child who was scared and in pain! To this very day, I wish I could look her in the eye and tell her how miserable and evil of a person she had to have been. I hope she changed, because I’m sure I was not the only human being that she publicly degraded & humiliated. Kindness is always free!
My mother had a similar nurse. She was in alot of pain after she had me. I was a good sized baby and her first one, I got stuck so they had to pull me out. In the process I broke her tailbone. She asked for more pain meds as well I broke her butt and was mocked instead. Some nurses should not be L&D nurses
@@jasminehagerman6329 oh bless her heart! That is horrible. I know this is rare, during childbirth, but I broke mine in a fall. That pain is pulsating nerve pain, like a really bad toothache or earache, only in the behind. Couple that with childbirth, and she was really, really suffering. I am so sorry that this nurse was so cruel 😢
@@hijibiji1998 ♥️ I will say this: for every bad experience that I had with a healthcare professional, I strived to be that much more compassionate to my own patients. I guess it’s because I know how it feels to be treated like crap when I was at my most vulnerable.
Yes this is so accurate. I'm glad your showing all the new mothers that don't know what to expect, a little insight on what it's like after giving birth. The nurse I had didn't show me much with my first baby. Well done 😊.
The government doesn’t want the schools to teach you to care about what women go through, they want women to keep going through it so they have more slaves. That’s also why they won’t teach shit about economics or finance
@@sailorarwen6101 lol when I was still in school I expected school to never teach me actually important stuff (aside from math), and it didn't so I dropped out quick ✌ So to answer of what I don't expect school to teach- anything useful
That's really sweet! But also my first thought was, "sounds like that kid should have stopped to ask for directions instead of just making their own path on the way out." 😂
Baby books aren’t about the mom though...there’s books on postpartum and books on what to do after birth.... but baby books are meant to be mostly about babies.
True. At 19 I was absolutely horrified at this situation . I said to my mum how long does this last? She said Ya know how you didnt have your period for 9 months??? Well here it all is. 😮😮😂😂 6 weeks of it for me. I had no clue. 😂
@@nataliekenny7490 there actually is studies on this. it has been proven that a good birthing experience will likely make women forget about the actual pain of labor and rate it pretty low awhile after birth. however if a woman has a bad experience (bad doctors, nurses, etc..) they will likely rate the pain highly even years after birth, unlike the women who have had good births. pretty interesting !
I never gave birth but I appreciate this video. More people need to talk about the physical demanding aspects. Cheers to all women on recovery- may you heal fast and well!
Tip for people who are pregnant. Your first pee. If you end up tearing upwards instead of downwards. I’m talking from your v to you cl*t that you end up tearing. The upside peri bottles suck. You’ll probably love the hospitals one. And lean backwards to make the pee run back. I always heard about tearing from v to a. And it took quite a bit of pain before I learned how to properly handle my kind of tear.
i just gave birth to my daughter yesterday, tore all around. the hospital bottle is a god send. good thing i heal pretty quick so I'm not in as much pain and can walk, shower, and even poo without help or pain. but my nurses are amazing, they will talk, explain, and do everything they can to make sure i know what's going on, what i need to do, and how. also helps the husband is right there with me and helping me out as much as he can. plus, he is so in love with his little girl❤❤❤
I had no idea about super pads or how to care for myself after giving birth. Really wish I would have had a nurse like you to guide me, especially with the 14 stitches. God bless you and every caring nurse like you.
Wow, I'm sorry that the nurses didn't help you. I didn't know about it either, but my nurse gave me a whole kit and explained what to do. How to clean myself, put the padding etc. I don't know why women who have already been through childbirth don't help their friends or family by letting them know in advance. I know I was salty at all my friends with children and was side eyeing my mother and aunts.
I have a problem with incontinence as a senior citizen. I think this could be a great temporary solution to the times my diaper deliveries are delayed and I possibly run out. I also get an itch now and then. The Tucks might help with that as well. I do have a cream but the Tucks sound like they may help as well.
This almost makes me tear up thinking of the nurse that helped to the restroom and helped to gently clean me up. Calmly and quietly nurturing me in that moment when I was uncomfortable and overwhelmed. I was so fortunate to have the best team taking care of my baby but also making sure I was being taken care of too as a first time mom
Is this video what commonly happened after natural childbirth? I had a cesarean at 19yo and never had another. I don't understand why the mother would need a regular pad much less that? Why would the mother be bleeding so much? Edit: Regarding nurses helping you: I always tell soon to be mothers to let the nurses take the baby as much as possible. I had complications for days after my cesarean so I barely saw my son. Once home, I was so thankful I had those days of rest.
@@tuttyfat you definitely need all those pads. Maybe even more..... you bleed very heavily for weeks after vaginal birth its like a period from hell ,especially if breastfeeding.... I didn't know that there was no bleeding after c sections. Guess you learn something everyday.
@@donttryme2008 I don't know why young people especially girls are not told all of this in health class/sex Ed. Maybe if they knew exactly what happened to their bodies during and after pregnancy there would be less teen pregnancies. Also, I believe a lot of mothers don't tell their daughters what to expect. My mother told me nothing my body. She never even explained periods. She left that to the school, which also told us next to nothing (this was in the 80s and some of the first sex Ed classes in our area). Luckily I was at a friend's house and her mother's explained it.
God bless these nurses... I was lost and can't thank mine for all the love, support, and compassion they gave me. They and my NICU teams were the only saving grace in my birth story. They are an absolute blessing.
this is super helpful for women who are about to give birth and don’t have someone to tell them about the aftercare so they are not totally surprised. thank you! my mom had c sections so when i had natural birth it was definitely a big surprise.
I'm in my second pregnancy. I remember this so well. They litterly handed me the bag. Showed me how to use it like she did and said "And here are your super sexy Victoria secret panties" I laughed so hard
I had 5 kids. So when I had #2-#5 I would ask for extra mesh panties so I could take them home with me and use them. They were super stretchy and soft and I would wash them and rewear them lol. My husband got a kick out of my giant mesh panties. I wasn’t ruining my underwear and would throw them away after the heavy bleeding had passed.
Let’s not forget that you have to continue to do this every time you go to the bathroom for the next 3-6 weeks (sometimes longer) and then you have your period right after. The pain and excessive bleeding down there was hands down the worst part of giving birth for me
Damn this makes me feel so sorry for USians. Imagine having the FIRST STAGE of uour recovery take up more than 3/4 of your maternity leave. You've barely even started thinking about the later stages of recovery and then you have to go back to work even if your birth and recovery were extremely difficult. Parental leave should be AT LEAST 16 weeks fully paid, if not more, not just 8 weeks
Every time i want to complain about living in the uk i see comments like this and it makes me so grateful to live in the here. With 39 months paid maternity leave + even more time of if you want but that would be unpaid. You also legally *have* to take atlests 2 weeks (4 if you work in certain jobs). Awell as with free healthcare i can hardly find a reason to complain. God bless all of the women in America going through all this - you are strong as hell.
@@megann4908 As someone from the U.S. I am all in favor of having fully paid parental leave for a longer period of time!! However, I have questions, and hope it doesn't sound awful, but I'm genuinely curious. You said people get up to 3 years of paid leave. How do you still have a job after that? Companies must hire people to replace someone gone that long, so what do they say when they hire somone? "Hey, you're a "temporary" staff for potentially 3 years, are you okay with that?" And what happens when the parent comes back? Is the person who took over now out of a job again? Does the company try to find another job for them within the company? Are there companies whose sole purpose is to contract out people to specifically take over for people on leave, then when that person comes back, the staff is sent to a new assigment? Thanks for answering! 😊
The Frida after birth kit is worth the $50. The ice pads and foam witch hazel are life savers. Also, adult diapers instead of mesh underwear with the monster pads are more discreet and comfortable and you can feel a bit more human with them 😊
I'm hoping I'll remember this when I need it someday, thank you! But definitely with you on the adult diapers, I already use those for my period, so taking 2 full packs to the hospital someday is a no brainer for sure
@ItsBri830 They'll give you supplies in the hospital. But you'll definitely want the adult diapers once you get home, especially once you no longer feel like you need the ice pads. They're much easier to deal with than the huge, bulky pads. Plus, they have a fuller coverage.
Yes to the diapers!! A couple days after my first birth I moved wrong; the adhesive from one of the pads had bunched up funny, stuck to my stitches, & then ripped off 😵💫 it was adult diapers from then on & all through my second kid lol
Pregnancy, is for sure, no walk in the park but trust me, as a mom of 3 beautiful kids, it IS worth all of that and more. NOTHING compares to your kids and it can only truly be understood once you have them.
@@-A-09 yeah no babe, sounds like a miserable time to me and i don't want to mess around and find out. I'd rather regret not having kids, than having kids and regretting them. it's just not for everyone so stop trying to convince people that is some sort of magical miracle.
I NEEDED THIS 20 YEARS AGO! Nobody ever warned me how much blood there would be after I had my child I remember screaming for help because I thought for sure I was hemorrhaging and dying
They forgot to deal with i guess affedbirth for my stepmother. When she went to pee she passed out because of the blood and the placenta. So yeah nahhh. Bless all yal
Well in any case it is better to call for help just in case. My mother in law almost died a week after my husband was born. There was a portion of retained placenta that caused a hemorrhage
When I was 9 I was raped I had to do a lot of these same things only I needed one large pad and that was it 😂 but that warm water I still remember crying cause I was trying to wipe and I was in a lot of pain and the nurse came in and gave me the warm water and I still remember how good that felt thank you too the nurses who listened to my story and still put on a brave face you are saints in my eyes
Oh my 😮 Like damn, I am so sorry that you went through that… I can’t even find the words, I hate the reality that things like that happen in this word & I fully get, & appreciate/respect laughing through/at your trauma (it’s the best way to cope in my opinion😅); but I’m glad that you had kind people around you to help you through it & I hope that your life has greatly improved since then. Wishing you a wonderful day/night/life 💚
We really need to spread more awareness like this. I'm a girl and no one had ever told me. Like i imagine it must be terrifying to have all this unexpected stuff happen to you after you give birth, and so many men also have no idea and think it's no biggie after you got the kid out
Yep and always remember parenthood is a CHOICE and its for you to make and you alone! No one should force it upon you and opting to wait or NEVER have kids is okay!
I totally agree! Wow I never even know this happens after having a baby. Wow. Women need to be educated about this more especially if like me you have not had a baby yet
I had a baby and didn’t even know this. It was a c section but still. To be fair idk what happened but I slept literally the whole three days,I couldn’t keep my eyes open more than maybe a few minutes at a time.
I agree, i had surgery on my ovaries and got my period while in the hospital the next day. This would've been a great tip for back then even if it wasn't the main purpose.
Forget the “super pads” and the mesh panties. I hated wearing those so much. My midwife recommended getting a small package of adult diapers. They accomplished the same task but were leak free and much more comfortable. And by the time you’ve used up the small package you don’t need them anymore. Also, the best advice for that first postpartum #2: sometimes your body has a hard time letting it out because your subconscious brain says, “the last time I pushed something out it was 7 lbs and a little traumatizing.” So get some toilet paper in your hand and apply gentle pressure to your vulva. This will help your subconscious brain say, “it’s okay, what happened last time isn’t going to happen this time,” and it helps your body allow the bowls to move.
I was so incredibly out of it after the difficult and traumatic birth of my son, I barely remember anything...even holding him 😔 BUT, I remember the sweet, gentle, caring nurse who walked with me (basically holding me up) to the bathroom and cleaned me up and showed me how to tend to myself down there and how to keep my episiotomy site clean. She was so compassionate....the look on her eyes was so loving. ❤ My son is almost a year old now....I will never forget her face as she knelt on the ground in front of the toilet helping me, telling me I did a great job, and that I would heal up in no time.
My first bathroom visit after giving birth I fainted. I had lost a ton of Blood and was having a hard time staying conscious and was vomiting. The nurses insisted I tried walking to the bathroom, and they helped me there, but as soon as I turned to sit down I fainted and fell hard onto the toilet. They put smelling salts under my nose and when I became conscious, there was Blood all over the bathroom, the door, the toilet, the nurses scrubs. I wish they had listened to me when I told them I wasn't ready.
They don't do it to be mean. It's because childbirth is one of the biggest risk factors in having blood clots travel through your body. The longer you lay in bed, the higher the risk factor. But all the same, I'm sorry that happened to you. I'm surprised they weren't holding onto you. They were for me both times.
My husband did this for me when our first was born. I absolutely had no idea what to put on but he previously helped several of his friends through the years during recovery periods of their children's births so he knew exactly what to do when it finally came to ours. I appreciate him so much and I know he's going to offer the same help again with our next.
The nurse who helped me get to the bathroom the first time after labor was such a sweetheart. She turned the faucet on for me and was very impressed with the peri bottle I had bought that pointed upward (highly reccomend, baby frida brand). Then the next nurse who took over gave me the side eye for asking for Tylenol when I had stitches for a 2nd degree tear 😂😂
Same experience. My first nurse was Angel from heaven. My second one thought I had two kids and no one ( was my first birth) and grilled my husband and I about tracking poop before realizing I was a nurse too. She wasn’t fuzzy at all. 😂
When I gave birth to my 2nd child, the floor was so full when I got over to the mother baby unit that they basically came in said hi, took our vitals, and left. I had an amazing nurse come over from the nursery because it was empty. She was a godsend because I was having urinary retention due to the pitocin and couldn't urinate after giving birth. I was in serious pain because of it. She was the only one who took me seriously. She found an u/s machine which measured over 1200 ml of urine in my bladder. She sounded the alarm to the other nurses that there was a serious issue so quickly. They drained over 1400 ml of urine and I finally got relief.
I remember feeling absolutely disgusting after having my son. It was my first pregnancy and had to have an emergency c section. I remember finally being able to move around a bit. So I decided I needed a shower. I had to have my husband help me and he saw me in nothing but those god awful mesh underwear and called me gorgeous. It really helped me feel better because we all know we aren't feeling our best after childbirth lol
I felt the same way and I'm so thankful for my husbands support. I had an emergency c section too with my twins and those mesh panties were so awful 😆. I can laugh about it now and I'm thankful for my little gremlins everyday
@@Sophiieeexx Yes I did. To be perfectly honest I was so scared that I didn't even feel anything. Ii dont remember getting them either time. But they lube the heck out of the end of it. What was annoying was the tape they put on your inner thigh to secure it so it wont get snagged on anything. It took forever for the adhesive to fully come off. Or the blood pressure leg cuffs. They basically put these big pressure cuffs on your legs and pump it just like they would on your arm. It is to help prevent blood clots. They were annoying af.
@@Sophiieeexx Of course. All births are different but millions of people have done it and you'll have your wonderful baby. It's so worth it. I swear I was like the grinch. My heart exploded. I didnt know I could love someone that much. My babies are my world. You've got this!
I have zero desire to have a child and everyone I know has either had kids or has no intention of having children at all. But I really appreciate this kind of information being so easily available and people so openly and frankly discussing things that are so easily overlooked and/or people feel embarrassed about. The aftercare for childbirth is too frequently a topic that gets very little attention. I personally think people should be prepared and know at least kind of what to expect is going to happen beforehand.
Can we talk about how badly it stings? The warm water, spray, and tucks pads make life so much more bearable. Bless those who do not have access to such things!
There was a postpartum sitz bath I used in combination with the warm water and witch hazel pads with my first. They don’t make it anymore but holy hell that stuff was good.
A bidet in the first few postnatal days is a thing of absolute bliss! They had them in the hospitals where I gave birth and oh my goodness, the continually running warm water is so soothing.
@@mamanursetina they're not common here in the UK either, but they have them in the postnatal areas solely for this purpose. At least they did in the two different hospitals I gave birth in.
"You're gonna stand up and try to make it look pretty." 😂😂😂 so true! Go with comfort over caring, the more you take care of yourselves mama, the faster you'll start feeling better❤
My husband was a saint when it came to helping me after giving birth to our son. He was absolutely terrified to let me walk to shower or walk to the bathroom by myself. The first night after birth he sat in the bathroom floor while I sat in the shower on the pull down seat to make sure I didn’t pass out or fall because I was bleeding so much. He took such good care of me and still does ❤
My husband started learning about all of the changes and stuff that happens to a woman when pregnant, and he literally said "NO BABIES. I DON'T WANT YOU TO GO THROUGH ALL THAT". 😂
My dad had a kid with his first wife and after marrying my mom told her they were never getting pregnant cause he never wanted to see her go through that. My mom and dad ended up adopting.
I love that little squeeze bottle. It makes me feel so clean. My last baby is 10 years old and I still use a squeeze bottle to keep myself clean during my periods
Speaking as someone who gave birth a little over two months ago, skip the monstrosity pads and just bring some adult diapers with you to the hospital in your bag. They are so so worth it, I lived in them for 5 weeks because that’s how long I bled and they were life (and mattress) savers
Yes!!!! Had my youngest 3 years ago and I brought in Depends diapers with me. The nurses and the doctor was surprised that I was using them and thought that it was smart and easier to deal with than those mesh underwear and hospital pads.
I've only had one cesarean 24 years ago. Why would mothers need pads at all? What is causing all the bleeding? God this sounds awful. I've always been thankful for having a cesarean over natural birth but this makes me want to buy a lottery ticket lol!
@@tuttyfateveryone bleeds. Vaginal or c-section doesn’t matter. Your uterus is emptying everything that’s in there. Some bleed more then others, but everyone bleeds.
Yeah I was just going to comment this, my grandma(who is a nurse) came to help my step-mom after she had my brother for a few weeks, came in the house with baby diapers in one hand, and adult diapers in the other!
I'm not even pregnant nor dating anyone with a possibility of becoming pregnant but this video has made me a subscriber. I'm grateful for this knowledge!
The first time I went to the bathroom, I looked down and screamed and said “OH MY GOD IS IT SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE THAT?!” , and this nurse(god bless her) was completely stoic and said “yep.”
This is the content we need. Nobody ever talks about this. My bestfriend honestly tried to help me prepare, seeing as she had just gave birth a few month before me. However she focused on all the stuff leading up (mucus plug, contractions, water breaking etc) but she and everyone else who talked to me about birth NEVER mentioned the aftermath and what our below bits go through afterwards. So with that being said....this content needs to be more out there for women giving birth for the first time
I thought I had prepared so much for pregnancy and childbirth. And I did! I was so informed, knew what I was doing, confident, everything was great. Until the baby was out of me and I had an oh shit moment where I realized I had done zero research about my postpartum body! Thankfully I had a fairly straightforward recovery, but getting this info out there is absolutely so important!
@@KM-ni5zt same here! I was super prepared for everything leading up. Which honestly seemed to be a waste anyways because my entire pregnancy was a breeze and even labor was like any other day minus laying in a hospital bed waiting to dilate fully. No pain no nothing. But man that all changed once birth was over. And thankfully recovery was issue free for me too. I just wasn't expecting so many steps to make myself comfortable while healing. If only I had put as much effort into researching postpartum body care as I did pregnancy and labor prep lol.
This is worthy of showing to all post-partum moms, especially vag delivered moms. It wouldn't hurt to show ladies once in their childbirth classes too. I worked in this area for years and she taught me something. That part with the blue plastic bed pad is brilliant. I have taught everything she did hundreds of times, but the blue pad part was a huge improvement. I wish I had thought of that. 😊
When I had my baby, almost 17 years ago, everything went great and everyone had left me alone in the room with no instructions. Of course I had to pee... I remember going and as I came out of the bathroom the nurse came in my room. She yelled at me and scolded me for not getting them first so they could show me this. But i didnt know. I ended up crying of course. She wasn't very nice at all. Thank goodness i had an amazing nurse by my side the entire time before that. Good nurses really do make you feel like everything is gonna be ok... and you're gonna get through it!! Thanks to all the wonderful nurses out there!!!! This video is spot on!!
How dare they, if I get a mean nurse imma fire her from my room lol I believe all births shouldn’t be more difficult as it is already with people yelling and telling you new things so rudely. it should be a wonderful experience besides literally breaking your kitty lol
With my last delivery...I went to breastfeed my baby and the nurse yelled at me and told me I couldn't do that because I have hepatitis c...I told her I already talked to my Dr and did the research and it's fine. She was still nasty to me and insisted on calling the lactation lady... who confirmed what I already knew.
Yes! The hospital where I delivered my oldest had these amazing icy gel packs that could be slid into the little crotch “pocket” in those oh-so-sexy net panties, under the pads….loved those! When I delivered #2, that hospital didn’t have them, but…the nurse threw everything in the little fridge in the recovery room…it wasn’t quite as good, but definitely works!
This was the moment I knew my marriage was doomed. When I walked out of the bathroom after this, that man-child had the nerve to ask why I still looked pregnant. . . 😑
jfc I'm so sorry, that's horrible. I can't imagine having a baby with someone and not being in absolute awe, love, and adoration at/for them, their body, and what they've done for our family no matter what that looks like at that moment. carrying and birthing a child is such a massive fucking feat of strength & resilience physically and mentally, and baring that toll should NEVER come with dissatisfaction/questioning from your partner ab it.
sorry for the long comment, that line was absolutely infuriating to me. I can't imagine what went through your mind in that moment- though I hope the feeling I'm sure it brought you has faded to hurt less and won't haunt you or your relationships. You didn't deserve that and I'm glad he's not in that place of status in your life anymore, youll do/get better than him if you haven't already queen 😌
First time pregnancy here. And all this education is making cherish my mom so much!!! She did this 4 times!!!!! Moms are seriously amazing and so strong.👍🏽
Accurate. She forgot one thing, though. The nurses watching you pee kindly threaten catheters if you can't go. 5 seconds after hearing that, I went. Bladder said "I don't need help thanks."
That’s like when mine threatened to cut me if the baby wasn’t born in the next push. You best believe I pushed like my life depended on it. With my first born I was bedridden for a few days because I had kidney infection and septicaemia and when I finally got the catheter out and was back on my feet I had to use the bathroom. We didn’t have any fancy spray or anything but they just said to sit leaning forward while you pee so the urine doesn’t sting the vagina and it worked quite well. When I was doing my first post birth poo (I was in hospital for 2 weeks) my mother in law came in the room and when I came out the toilet she berated me that “ANYONE could have just come in and stole my grandson you’re so lucky!!!” In a threatening manner. It was already traumatic and she really upset me saying that what was i meant to do take him to the toilet? 😢 ive had 4 sons now and ill always look fondly back to those really early days. theyre special. nothing makes you feel as strong and valued as having a new baby. i want another one but its not practical and my husbands had a vasectomy.
This is exactly my experience after birth😊. Thank you for normalizing this! Nobody ever wants to talk about what your body goes through right after delivery, and it's scary! So much blood and pain and then trying to bond with baby, it's a lot! But thanks to nurses and doctors like you, we feel like normal people
Your videos are making me feel so much better about giving birth lol I’m almost to 5 months and I’m terrrifed but the way you put humor in it, I feel like I’ll be laughing with my tears remembering these lol 😊
No one mentioned any of this about the tucks pad until my 3rd & last child. 100%better painwise . The hospital told me the insurance company only covered one package of sanitary pads. I ran out on the third day, I asked 7 people & then called my husband at work and he figured he could buy me a pack of pads at the hospital Nope he had to leave and go to the store. I was in for a week. We had no first aid spray.
It’s the most beautiful, difficult thing to give birth. Recovery isn’t bad, I only had vaginal births. The sore bottom, blood, full breasts is all part of the miracle our body performed! The precious child is oh so worth it.
I tell you labor and delivery nurses are angels. I still think about mine and my baby is 13. If I had ever won the lottery there are a few working folks that made an impact on my life and I'd share it with them and she'd be one of them. That experience really stays with you and these women mother you so sweetly 😭
Nurse Tina, I am amazed, absolutely blown away, how thorough and practical and easy you make that look, and you make it relatable and you touch upon very sensitive topics! Without batting an eye, and his natural is nature could be. I’m not talking about being shy and not talking about the lady bits. You acknowledged, these places are swollen and sore and may be bulging out and it could be bleeding… You tell the new mother no problem that’s the way it works. And you empower them. “You not only can do this, you ARE going to DO THIS… Shoot, you just brought a new human into this world, you can do anything! And I am reluctant to mention when you pull those net briefs up, you make it look good! I wanna be like you! Please don’t take this wrong. If you lived anywhere close to me, and I didn’t see what I think is a ring. I would want take you to dinner if not to date you! You are amazing! I could go on, but I’ll restrain myself. I hope you do more like this, they’re great! In nursing college, the mother, baby rotation was without a doubt my favorite.
honestly anyone who has given birth deserves some serious respect because i don't think i could ever handle this when my period cramps alone sometimes completely disable me for a week
Or... peri bottle, then adult diaper with witch halzel pads... not so bulky, holds onto your body, and feels like big underwear and not a soggy baby diaper that won't stay on. Planned on doing it for my first but decided the hospital probably knew what they were doing and hated that... did it for my second and it was a night and day difference.
I'm no where near the point in my life where I'm going to have children but this really made me smile, because I know so many women out there feel insecure and hate what childbirth has done to their body and the way she pulls up her pants and gives a goofy but reassuring smile at the end I know has got to make so many women out there feel a lot better about themselves. Thank you for normalizing this for those who need it the most ❤️
Yes, yes and yes! Exactly how it was! Great information that you are putting out there for expectant mamas, and even those who have done it before. The warm water rinse is awesome. The witch hazel!!! Great post!!!
So glad there is more awareness! And that more men are being called out to help their partners. Totally gave my dad the 3rd degree 2 days ago for not helping my mom when I asked her. She felt vindicated😂
As a vagina owner, the idea of the utter pain from giving birth makes me physically retract and cringe!!! I have suuuuuch a low pain tolerance, so amazing that people (usually) choose to have babies and some with no meds/painkillers/epidural 😭😭💛💛
I just had my first on Friday, trust me, its not fun and I have an extremely low pain tolerance but through breathing exercises and having a hand to hold, I was able to get through it without an epidural. I did get some pain medication but it doesnt really help at that point. Getting sutures and peeing for the first time was much worse than pushing that 8 pound baby out of me.
My hospital had two-in-one instant ice pack/mega pads. I asked for more before being discharged. They asked “how much?” and I said “How many can you give me?” 😂
Also for anyone that wants to avoid the monstrosity of the hospital field kit. You can buy depends/adult diapers and use overnight pads with them as well as the witch hazel. You get much less bulge and don’t have any pads sliding around.
I think everyone should try both. I personally didn’t love the adult diapers, found pad setup more comfy and secure. But everyone likes different things ❤
@@mamanursetina I’ve seen several videos about this subject and I don’t understand why there isn’t a better ready made solution out there. The fact that so many labor and delivery depts rely on crafting a makeshift postpartum garment using a variety of pads, underwear, etc. is beyond me. Why can’t med supply companies create something that hospitals can use to make it easier on everybody?
This is what I did. Bought depends and I wore them like panties lol when I stopped bleeding I was like damn those were comfy and my husband said why don’t you just where them on your period? Lol cause it’s never that serious honey😂😂😂

Mama Nurse Tina in about to have a reductive surgery on my bits next month and this along with the overnight pads saturated with aloe with lidocaine in the freezer... but I wouldn't have known witch hazel was okay to put in it too. So thank you very much.

I want to know if someone was allergic to witch hazel, what is another alternative for those?
Tucks pads are the best invention since the invention of inventions 😂 Signed, a mother of 4 😂😂😂

@elizabethwitt2621 let's say one has a normal delivery? Doesn't she wear normal pads with a cotton underwear? What's with the spray I'm confused 😅
@@etherealrosegold No. Everything the nurse in the video did was standard for postpartum aftercare.
@@etherealrosegold Delivery by c section, or vaginal? Mine was vaginal. There was some tearing, which is normal. I'm not sure one pad would've been enough, lol. I used little pads on top of big pads to make sure I didn't make a bigger mess. 😅

I just used super thick pads and changed them every couple of hours
I've never been so grateful as I was to the labor nurse who ushered me to the bathroom and quietly and kindly guided me through these moments. I felt so seen and cared for in the aftermath of childbirth
I said the same thing about the nurse who helped me shower and clothed after my C-section !!
I have never been so grateful for nurses as I was right after child birth. They are not appreciated nearly enough, at all.
Yes! They GOT you when you’re in your most vulnerable moments, they’re literal earth angels ❤
Look into 1. Hypnobabies 2. Pregnant and Empowered
I’m a guy and I’m just curious… what happens?? I’ve never heard of a “first pee” after child birth
@@tylerrichard5295lmao not near as much as "the first movement"
@@tylerrichard5295ok, I've had my fun. It's important that women are capable of relieving themselves during the healing, and can't be released from the hospital until they know they can. Peeing is now of an acrobatic struggle, but #2 struggles can be another problem.
NONE of the nurses explained this to me for my 1st born! Everything about my after care was learned on the fly when I got home & researched things on my own! THANK YOU for being one of my biggest helpers!!!
Same! Every pregnant woman I have known since, I tell her everything about this, so they don't find out like I did.
I was kinda appalled at the huge mess tho lol
But after that shower I didn't have any more giant ones like that.
But in their defense I could only have goat milk.

I’m glad that the nurses were so helpful and sweet about this. Must have been terrifying to go through that.

a raw liver is exactly what I described the clot from me looked like. lol
I was not progressing after nearly 24hrs labour, they got me to stand up & the plug fell out straight after.
Tip for people who are pregnant. Your first pee. If you end up tearing upwards instead of downwards. I’m talking from your v to you cl*t that you end up tearing. The upside peri bottles suck. I had a 3 degree tear !! I had 38 stitches but the next day 20 had to be removed without pain relief … that was over 35 years ago 😢😢😢

My nurse was also a saint❤ gave me a complete shower because my first son 💩 all over me😂
It’s overwhelming hey?!! I’m glad you had a good one ♥️
Can't I just depends and then use the material that she said to clean and numb the area
If they tell us before hand, we won't do it
My nurse helped me
Yea i had no idea and now it freaks me out
As a first time mom to be in September this is super helpful
I'm in my second pregnancy. I remember this so well. They litterly handed me the bag. Showed me how to use it like she did and said "And here are your super sexy Victoria secret panties" I laughed so hard
That’s what I called mine I loved them they were so comfy and didn’t rub on my stomach or anything
This brought me back to a forgotten memory. Step by step was accurate
I did this 8 times too lol.
I only had to do it everytime for like 4-5 days . You get tired of filling up that damn little bottle real quick
Also, adult diapers instead of mesh underwear with the monster pads are more discreet and comfortable and you can feel a bit more human with them 😊
I'm going to have to look this up. Thanks for the tip!!
The more I learn about the whole process of pregnancy, birth, and post partum, the more excited I am to just live with just me, my wife, and some dogs

Same here. All of the birth related things just sound so uncomfortable and unpleasant
Yeah none of this sounds like a good idea especially the loss of freedom, sleep and quiet time once the hurdle of pregnancy and childbirth is over.

I love the whole demonstration 😆 This is what visual learners need!
They did this for me with my first but honstly it is so much less bulky and easy to manage when i got adult diapers for my other births
Wish I had that. They were detached and callous to me.
Went to a different hospital for the second and what a difference.

Did you get a catheter inserted? How uncomfortable was it? I’ve heard C/sections and epidurals require one

@@KM-ni5zt same here! I was super prepared for everything leading up. Which honestly seemed to be a waste anyways because my entire pregnancy was a breeze and even labor was like any other day minus laying in a hospital bed waiting to dilate fully. No pain no nothing. Is the classical "if you don't know, ask!" That makes me yell inside. How I suppose to know that I don't know ?
With my last delivery...I went to breastfeed my baby and the nurse yelled at me and told me I couldn't do that because I have hepatitis c...I told her I already talked to my Dr and did the research and it's fine. Haha it said stay the eff outta me!!
That’s like when mine threatened to cut me if the baby wasn’t born in the next push. You best believe I pushed like my life depended on it.

If I had ever won the lottery there are a few working folks that made an impact on my life and I'd share it with them and she'd be one of them. That experience really stays with you and these women mother you so sweetly 😭
My mom still is in contact with my labor and delivery nurse and when I was young she babysat me sometimes
@Jo Pearson came here to say the same thing♡
@jo no, that bad period pain is only at worst a 5cm dilated contraction. signed an endometriosis sister with kiddos.
Or... peri bottle, then adult diaper with witch halzel pads... not so bulky, holds onto your body, and feels like big underwear and not a soggy baby diaper that won't stay on. Planned on doing it for my first but decided the hospital probably knew what they were doing and hated that... did it for my second and it was a night and day difference.
I tried the adult diapers...I much preferred the mesh panty setup! I found it more comfy and more secure. But adult diapers are for sure simpler!
I loved the adult diaper too it was so comfy and those witch hazel pads stayed closer I guess it is all down to preference on how you feel
now I'm convinced to try the diaper with my next baby,
the mesh pants were just not working for me after the second kiddo, it never stayed in position
@@jamienaz1378 YES give it a try. Maybe you'll like it better!
@@mamanursetina I really appreciate that you are so open to people sharing! 🧡
🙌🏽💕
This is important content. Thank you
Thanks for saying that! ♥️
As a vagina owner, the idea of the utter pain from giving birth makes me physically retract and cringe!!! I have suuuuuch a low pain tolerance, so amazing that people (usually) choose to have babies and some with no meds/painkillers/epidural 😭😭💛💛
Did it twice no meds no nothing ..intense baby🤣 but first poop was waaay harder man!
@@vlastabarachaha, I have a video on that too 😂 💩
I have a crap pain tolerance too 😅
I just had my first on Friday, trust me, its not fun and I have an extremely low pain tolerance but through breathing exercises and having a hand to hold, I was able to get through it without an epidural. I did get some pain medication but it doesnt really help at that point. Getting sutures and peeing for the first time was much worse than pushing that 8 pound baby out of me.
@@Katiekat3044 mad facts. Birthing the child was a breeze compared to the first toilet break. It felt like someone drove a bus through my pelvis ☠️.
I fainted on that first pee. Thank God the nurses caught me 😂😂😂
My hospital had two-in-one instant ice pack/mega pads. I asked for more before being discharged. They asked “how much?” and I said “How many can you give me?” 😂
I had those too they were the best
Omg yes
@@Sarah-ic4yubecause that would make too much sense
@@Sarah-ic4yu probably because most medical companies are run by men, and men don’t have to deal with this.
This is what I did. Bought depends and I wore them like panties lol when I stopped bleeding I was like damn those were comfy and my husband said why don’t you just where them on your period? Lol cause it’s never that serious honey😂😂😂
I AM CRACKING UP!! This is bringing up some VISCERAL memories. reminiscing fondly...
Child birth is a beautiful, long process and I have decided that it is not for me
