- January 28, 2012 - The James Campbell High School Navy JROTC Armed Exhibition Drill Team won First Place for Armed Exhibition at the West Point Drill Meet held at Kaimuki High School in Honolulu, Hawaii. Way to go Sabers of Ewa Beach!
Drill team members included Jayke Carig (commander), Spencer Buan, Dairius Kawewehi, John Agni, John Ralleca, Roden Parro, Aren Bumanglag, and KJ Buccat. They performed with M1 Garand demilitarized rifles.
Members of the King's Guard Drill Team judged this event. Covers were removed prior to the drill performance at the request of the judges.
Some of the drill commands were given in Hawaiian:
* i mua - forward
* hema - left
* ʻākau - right
* ʻekahi - 1
* ʻelua - 2
* ʻekolu - 3
* ʻehā - 4
* ʻelima - 5
* ʻeono - 6
* ʻehiku - 7
I Don't Care What Anybody Says. The M1 Garand Is VERY heavy to spin. 9 pounds is pretty heavy. I'm Very Impressed With How They Handled The Rifle.
Kamran Shabazz I'm sorry but no
It ticks me off when people think that the rifle dosent weigh much bc its just 9lbs. It really impresses me when people can work this well with them. I set my bar high and i hope to get as good as these cadets.
Kamran Shabazz lol, it's not a real m1G, they are using the Glendale Parade store model which is only 6lbs, but yes I would agree that spinning an m1G is very hard cuz of how unbalanced the weight is
What? You’re totally wrong.
Lol I weigh 120 the rifle isn’t heavy you just haven’t ever done this or don’t practice enough
I honestly miss doing exhibition drill. Brings back memories everytime I see this video. Ended last year with a bang.
Amazing, I can't believe you guys didn't compete in nationals! You would have brought some serious competition, either way amazing work.
Outstanding!!! Bravo!!!
Nice job guys!!
That was one of the best routines that I have ever seen.
They killed it!
Was just there today! I was on Roosevelt's Color Guard!
Outstanding. Few guys were off timing wise but still was great
Because Navy is awesome!!! HOORAHHH
kids are SICK!!!!! and paul naki grading!!!! great video
What great imagination displayed in this routine! Some timing issues, but well done!
"Too much Hawaiian style"? You do know what this is a Hawaiian school, correct? That would be like telling Blue Guard that they're "too Texas".
Proud of my alma mater. Go Campbell Sabers!
you can put tape on the inside edge of the cover to keep it on. That's what we did for our last drill comp. its works great for guys.
That's what my team did for every comp
this was a pretty good routine!
is anyone how to do reporting in part? please tell me how to do that.
This was our best year for ex..
Beast
One guy was late but the rest was amazing
WAIT A MINUTE!...Where are there covers!?!?...How did they get first place without full uniform?
what were the sequences?
Patty cake with rifles. Love it
for exhibition competition in hawaii the judges recommend teams to drill without covers for safety purposes.
Holy shit that was good ... was that a springdale 1903 rifle ?? Or non-service. ....
Where are they're covers?
Taito he was right, it is they're not their pal, they're is the contraction of they are, their is a possessive word describing people(plural) belongings, actions, and such. This is coming from a ninth grader.
Unless you were talking to the guy that said they're in the wrong context. My apologies I thought you were referring to the guy above your comment.
yes on oahu
im curious why they are not wearing their covers considering they are outside in uniform... impressive spinning tho
Wooooo Bulldogs all the way!
class of 2016
I may be wrong but when you are in possess of a weapon don't you need a cover on and since they are outside?
Rules are different in Hawai'i
JarelAloha The hell they are, the rules are the same no matter state. State doesn't effect military standards
Mr. Toothpicks Lol okay, what's done is done. Quit ya bitching.
JarelAloha read the description, the kings guard requested that they have no covers.
paolo guerra king's Guards they are required not to wear covers
Lol that's what Im thinking! Like I know its exhibition and you can chose a cover so its best suited for your performance like some people wear ball caps because they know there garrison cover is going to fall off. but at least wear some form of a cover.
omg yes yes u literally just recited the story of my life
Try actually reading the description next time, "Covers were removed prior to the drill performance at the request of the judges,".
we were calling our commands in hawaiian.
why are they not competing at nationals????
How the hell can the use m1s? Last time i checked we couldn't use them at least MCJROTC is not allowed to use m1s or m14s.
i'm just wondering what is the weight of those rifles? Just what to know
***** No exhibition rifle is 15 pounds bud. Max they get is 11, and that is a Wood M1 Garand with Bayonet
arkra12 it really depends. My exhibition and colorguard rifles are 9 pounds. But they are springfield m-1903's.
Sharp af
some were off step especially near the end the cadence was horrible
didn't care for that talking about the spinning
XxApexTurtlexX Weeelll the routine was good but they needed to clean that up a lot
obviously never seen john jay silver eagles or flour bluff
👌
It had good timing, but there was not that much spinning. Just a lot of tapping.
HOW THE HELL DO YOU GUYS FLIP THOSE GUNS! I FEEL LIKE THE STUPIDEST PERSON BC I CAN'T EVEN CATCH A BASE BALL THROWN BY A FIVE YEAR OLD! YALL R AMAZING!
lol its not that hard with practice you can do it
Xia Ogando this is not an uncommon thing
lol it's not that hard. It's pretty easy once you're use to it. You can gain muscle doing it too.
It's called a rifle
lol no, they are not on the kings guard.
Are these the non-service rifles?
Yeah, they are built specifically for spinning. I was in Navy JROTC in high school. There's absolutely no firing mechanisms in any of them
It the Demil team. Demil is an abbreviation for demilitarized. So their rifles are demilitarized rifles
Ohh thats my bad bro lol great routine
Where the fuck are there covers
Hawai'i rules are different
JarelAloha They're still part of the NAVY Jrotc and they WILL comply with the navy uniform standards
muchpandasowow Lmao "okay"
read the description
What he said^^
is this in hawaii?
Jennifer Addo oahu Hawaii
Ok, but its awfully odd that they allow it
Why do they dance with the gun?
It is something called drill
+Bryce Reynolds Only if more civs would understand basic disciplinary values, wouldn't take a second to figure out why.
Yuri Tussolini iiii
Hooooolllllyyyyyy shit better the francis Lewis high schools exhibition
I totally agree with you... then you tell them they can go to an event and they get butt hurt...
Cool!
Not to be ignorant or anything, I just don't know. Are they speaking English and if not what language are they speaking or just plainly what are they saying. Rituals????
I Thought Alt.Arms and Armed Exhibithion couldn't slap their bodies?
Go against Norview. I dare ya.
they make our drill team look like crap. just dang mann o_o
Not bad, but on 1:30. The patty cake doesn't look good. That's more like a unarmed drill team...
I like to call the unarmed team the "happy slap" team
+CranesV2 what are commander calls it
conduct me a about face
I don't wanna do this.lol looks like dancing
See...If I didn't have 15 freshmen who couldn't spin yet...then my Drill Team could go places...No, they might hurt themselves Cheif says...thats kinda what you have to do to be good...practice and get hurt occasionally.
ekahi=1 elua=2 ekolu=3 eha=4 elima=5 eono= 6 ehiku= 7 ewa= 8 eiwa=9 umi=10
Like the fact they were original but you lack execution and precision.you were not all together. Over all great! :)
Are you kidding? They were together.
I known they're from Hawaii but WTF are they saying?😂
THIS ISNT WEED RICK theur just calling left right left right😂😂
It was good but I've seen way better
Corny
They're good, but too much hawaiian style. Its overused
Joshua Gill you should check out the King's Guards
Boring... So many mistakes.
Yeah there were some mistakes but that spinning takes practices. No doubting that
You watch some pretty weird stuff on UA-cam
Kiwi Rain and you can do any better?
