As silly as these scams seem a person in my community got scammed out of 1200$ for a pop up scam last week. Let's not forget amoungst the laughter that these scammers are real criminals that cause real harm.

Only wish more damage could be done. As good as this is, they can ultimately just get a new harddrive. Maybe if there is a way to mess with hardware voltages, or even pass their info along, unless Indias government really is okay with all this?

Because if they do it it will give the victim a warning saying that this may be a scam or something like that. So they tell you to connect and then switch sides with them. Incoming connections from India are blocked i think in newer versions of TeamViewer.

The software they use - TeamViewer - will show a warning or even block connections from India. The way to circumvent it is to let the victim connect to the scammer pc and then switch sides.
