    Thanks for doing this. I've fished there (successfully) but didn't know about the structure that had been placed in the lake. Great job. Much appreciated.

    I just moved home to the area. This is a great video, especially when your 38 and haven't been home since you were 12, and need to find good lakes to fish.

      @@FishingPAwithRyanRead are Muskie still in Keystone or what would be a good lake around Westmoreland that would be good for Muskie

    • @FishingPAwithRyanRead

      Westmoreland is tough , keystone state park has tigers but they are well fed on trout, loyal Hanna is ok but has gone downhill in my opinion unless your out at the outflow, the mon is your best bet , or you could drive down to the yough and try but it ain’t easy , I drive out of Westmoreland to fish for musky usually.

      @@FishingPAwithRyanRead Thank you. I'm from here originally but grew up down south and lived in Florida for a while. Just moved home. So Muskie, Pike and Walleye are things I haven't had much opportunity to fish for until recently.

    I love these map breakdown vids! I'm from Fayette county & I'm either going to Twin Lakes or here on Saturday this weekend. I don't have a boat but this place looks very easily accessible to walk around. Thinking about going here this weekend and then Twin Lakes (to rent the pedal boat) next weekend. I've never caught a Musky. Its a bucket list fish, lol.... Would you recommend Keystone Lake Park first or would you recommend Twin Lakes first? Would love to walk around this lake throwing soft plastics on the Texas rig but also using shiners, some kind of bigger lure trying to get a Musky. Id be absolutely stoked!

    • @FishingPAwithRyanRead
      @FishingPAwithRyanRead  3 роки тому +1

      Keystone state park has tigers but they are tough to catch , twin is more pan fish , cats and bass. They are both accessible from shore to a point. If you wanna catch a musky you gotta put your time in and work at it , took me 2-3 years to figure it out to a point where I wanna fish for them full time. Just make sure that you have good release gear for muskies in case you do hookup, long pliers , hook cutters and if possible a big game net. Anything to make sure you can get a good release on them so they can grow up strong. Either option for a pond hopping day isn’t bad , especially for bass. I tend to lean toward keystone myself even though twin is like 15 minutes from me.

      @FishingPAwithRyanRead  5 років тому

      Glancy Outdoors , I have seen pictures of walleye caught out of there and they were pretty decent! I haven’t fished it, but may have too, looks like a solid musky lake to. Do you know what the primary forage is there?

    • @glancyoutdoors1881
      @glancyoutdoors1881 5 років тому

      For your musky and your rare 7+ pound bass I would bet the trout in there would be their primary food source. But for your average size bass I think they mainly focus in on the panfish/crawfish. I have success on jigs and senkos. Walleye I would assume eat the small minnows and perch. I do not think the shad population is strong enough in there for it to be their primary food source.

      I’d say water temps are key right now, I’d use cold water tactics , small baits worked slow. I’ve been using rattle baits and really slowly popping them and adjusting my countdown on casts randomly to try and figure out if they want it on the bottom or somewhere in particular in the column. SB fishing does a great job with bass and Is far better than me , he seems to use soft plastics allot when it’s cold like this, I’d try them out worked stupid slow.

      Thanks man. I'm subscribed to a lot of bass fishing channels, but I like getting local opinion more often than not. I'll probably drag a carolina rig on the bottom and throw a few jerkbaits. Just going to be happy to get out and fish!

    Hey what’s up Ryan , I got a question , not sure if you will see this or not since it’s on a older video but I’m planning on going up to keystone lake this Sunday or next to try and hook into one of those muskies and I’m gonna be shore fishing .. what kind of lures would you recommend ? I’m going to throw live bait as well but i want to try and catch one on a lure also

    • @FishingPAwithRyanRead
      @FishingPAwithRyanRead  2 роки тому +1

      The state park is tough, with the amount of trout stocked in there I believe the tigers are harder to get to commit to a lure. I have had minimal success in there , rapala original floater F18 is one of my economical choices. Otherwise , jerkbaits , glide baits , bucktails. Don’t be afraid to throw rattle baits too. If you can get live bait , that’s never a bad idea for this time of year.
