If somehow they do pull this off, you have to remember that the fan support has never really been that strong. They'll never fill the building on a regular basis. But for some reason, that's never mattered to Bettman.
My opinion: everyone is saying WHEN the auction happens. This meeting is NOT a guarantee they will put it up for auction. They could decide no auction and we’re back at square one. Additionally, this 3yr timetable is WAY too short. If the auction happens, if he wins the bid, construction wouldn’t start until Fall of this year. Building a stadium on property that has no infrastructure (roads, utilities, etc.) will not happen that quickly. On this same note, will the owner pay for all this too or ask the city to put in all these needed items, and if so will the public support that? 🤷♂️
Last night was the FIRST time in TWO YEARS that felt like an actual Coyotes home game....not that many CBJ fans and the ones that were there were pleasant and for the most part invisible...BUT there were also quite a few more empty seats than I expected to see especially for all the fanfare. Congrats to Josh Doan and the entire Doan family. Classy people from head to toe and judging from what I saw and heard in the stands, Doan , Cooley and Guenther are gonna be the new Tres Hombres...
Hypothetically, could they make a deal where they play out of market for 3-years during the construction phase in a bigger arena? Say San Diego? Or even split the arena time at T-mobile in Vegas? I know it sounds bizarre but for heavens sake, at this point what hasn’t been?
Where this land is about a 1,000 acres and the Coyote s are asking for 95 to 100 i'm hearing . I hope they get this land but if they don't would the NHL wait for more land bids or tell them that's enough
With the amount that the NHL has already invested in the Coyotes I doubt the NHL will abandon them at the last minute. As long as the land is purchased and construction started I don’t think the NHL or the NHLPA will really say anything. It’s not the perfect location, but far, far better than Glendale. I have faith that the Coyotes will finally have an arena in a location to be successful in.
Talking About 2 NHL Expansion Teams Coming Salt Lake City Utah And Atlanta Georgia Are Both New Teams Are Or The Arizona Coyotes Moving To One Of These Cities Maybe Even Houston Texas
Would anyone be surprised if there is a surprise, mystery high bidder to ruin the Coyotes land acquisition plans and some time later we learn that the buyer was from Salt Lake City or Houston?
Being 100% unbiased and objective here: I honestly think relocation is extremely unlikely. The land going up for auction seems to be a formality at this point. After that, I don’t foresee Alex Meruelo losing this auction (especially with all that’s on the line), and if land is secured I really don’t see a scenario where they’d then force him out.

Agree
Doesn’t matter. The market is huge
The team that will never die

Interesting. We will find out soon
Forgot where I heard, but I think they plan to fund it privately, could still get tax breaks or other benefits that isn't direct funds to the project

When they applied for the auction last year, didn't they already have all the studies on the property done before the auction was allowed?

Even if the angles are bad i think playing at the suns arena would be better than Mullet Arena.
New ownership partnerships are needed for the coyotes to succeed. What would the Coyotes have looked like with Reinsdorf as the owner. Lord help you.
I will start the bid at 60 Million, Craig.

Houston is the favourite for expansion.

Dallas wanted a team in Hamilton, Ontario and never relocated them there. Bettman won't allow a relocation if that's what you were thinking.
