This brings back some of my best childhood memories of growing up in the 80’s. ‘Defenders of The Earth’, ‘The Pink Panther Show,’ ‘Looney Tunes’ (especially The Road Runner Show) and ‘Popeye’ were my favorite cartoons. I loved ‘JEM’, ‘The Smurfs’, ‘Scooby Doo’, ‘Thunder Cats’ and ‘Inspector Gadget’ too! I’ll never forget waking up early on Saturday mornings, getting a big bowl of sugary cereal and plopping down right in front of the TV to binge on cartoons in my pajamas. I loved that all the commercials were toy ads between the cartoons too. I was the kid that wanted every toy I saw on TV and McDonald’s was my favorite place to eat. Ah memories… I wish we could go back in time.
Thanks for these great videos. I’m new to the channel and already hooked!
    👏

He-Man had a CGI cartoon in 2021. As for his female counterpart, there was the Netflix She-Rah cartoon.
Thundercats was given a worthy re-imagining via the 2011 cartoon.
In 2016, there was Voltron: Legendary Defender. Though, the final season was atrocious.
GI Joe is still around, but has generally been having a rocky time.
The Transformers is still alive and well. Though, the original show itself lasted a season longer than it should have; there's good reason people rarely bring up season 4. Fun fact, the person who voiced Starscream also voiced Cobra Commander.
The 1980s turtles were huge. They were a major reason why the Transformers toyline died in North America for a few years. Doesn't help Hasbro created the Action Masters out of desperation. While the 1980s cartoon has a definitive ending; that doesn't stop them from having a crossover with the 2003 turtles, the first Nickelodeon turtles, and there was even a TMNT and Batman crossover. Not to mention they received the still generally new Revenge of Shredder video game. Ironically, the 1980s cartoon is also one of the only times Baxter was white; presumably they were worried about a black guy being portrayed villainous on TV.
The Smurfs has an okay CGI movie from 2017. Although a new movie is apparently being made for 2025.
Inspector Gadget received a CGI sequel in 2015. This retconned the original sequel; Inspector Gadget & the Gadgetinis.
Ducktales has the majorly improved 2017 reboot.
Q5 ruined The Real Ghostbusters in later seasons. Although at least the cartoon technically continued on in Extreme Ghostbusters; which ignored much of what Q5 did.
Jem and the Holograms had the 2015 IDW comic run.
SilverHawks is the only one I'm not familiar with.

It's basically the bird version of Thundercats. There were three - Thundercats (land), Silverhawks (sky), and Tigersharks (sea), each released a year a part, and progressively less successful than the show which came before it. Secret Galaxy have done a video on it.

You guys didn't mention that the TMNT 1980s cartoon is a goofier adaption of the Mirage comics. The turtles all had red bandannas in the original comics. Not to mention the Shredder was a much more serious person who had died very early on. Ironically, he may not have been villainous enough because some versions of him since the 2003 cartoon are quite evil (including the one that's in the TMNT and Batman crossover; with said version of Shredder taking visual inspiration from his 80s counterpart). As for the Foot Clan, they were all actual humans and not robots. This is something we get to actually see in the otherwise infamous Next Mutation.

I was too old for 80s cartoons, but my all-time favorite cartoon from the late 60s and early to mid 70s was, without a doubt, The Pink Panther. Hardly any talking but always a good story line. 👍👍🔮🔮

3:59 When I saw Thundercats for the first time I was a little kid and I saw the opening and honestly thought it was a cartoon movie ON TV! That wasn't a thing back in the 80s. You saw stuff like this in movie theaters. It was big all around! The music, the visuals. Just everything screamed to me this was some amazing cartoon movie and I was even MORE excited to find out a week late this was a series. It was a revolution in my 9 year old head. My mom tried to stop me from watching it because she thought Mum-ra was too scary for me. I fucking loved it and I miss it. The reboot wasn't bad either. They needed more time and a better budget.

The G1 cartoon run of Transformers actually has different continuities in North American and Japan. Here in the US, The Transformers ended with the extremely short lived season 4; until Beast Wars would continue the story and end the main timeline with Beast Machines. In more recent years, there has been a split timeline with EarthSpark.
Over in Japan, season 4 was ignored in favor of Headmasters (highly recommended to stay far away from the Omni Productions dub) and a few other anime. Also, they have Beast Wars 2 and Beast Wars Neo to continue the story of Beast Wars instead of Beast Machines. Robots in Disguise over in Japan is also a continuation of G1 and unlike his US counterpart Galvatron (who isn't the same person as G1 Galvatron); Devil Gigatron does see actual redemption in manga material (who ironically also isn't the same person as G1 Megatron). Robots in Disguise over at North America pays homage to G1, but has no actual story connection.
Let's also not forget about the Marvel comics; which are drastically different and while it was only supposed to be a mini-series with a couple issues; the run lasted far longer than intended. A notable aspect of Marvel comics was how much of an influence its version of Shockwave would have on his future incarnations.
As for the original toys, it can be said that 1986-1988 were the best years for the toys; with 1987 and 1988 producing most of the best looking G1 Transformers toys. There are a few fun facts with the Transformers toys and cartoon. The name Rumble was applied to the red and black minibot and Frenzy was applied to the purple minibot in the toyline. However, it seems there was a mix up with the names for the cartoon. Years after the original toy run, G1 Galvatron in Japan received a reissue that made him purple. While not the correct shade of purple, it's closer to his animation model. As for G1 Jetfire; he was supposed to look like a Macross Valkyrie Fighter in the cartoon just like with his toy. However, major legal issues required a major design overhaul for the cartoon.

Of your thirteen you chose, I agreed on these of I want to see return, while keeping the feel of then:
    1. He-Man not so much. Too macho for me
2 She-Ra: Princess of Power OG, (not the current remake)
    3. ThunderCats (I also include the 2011 remake. The original was the best though)
    4. Voltron: Defender of the Universe The OG of the 80s
    5. G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero. The OG of the 80s
    6. Transformers. The OG of the 80s
    7. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the 2015 remake with a younger teen April was also pretty good.
    8. Smurfs- ugh no thanks everything had to be Smurf this. And that theme... Double ugh.
    9. Inspector Gadget. Please, Penny was the brains behind the bumbler. She did all the work.
10.DuckTales and the reboot, but having OG DuckTales gang back.
    11. The Real Ghostbusters I could take or leave it, but it was alright.
    12. Jem Absolutely would love to see this one continue if done right. If it can't be done right, leave the OG Jem alone. She-Ra was already screwed up.
    13. Silverhawks I don't think I ever saw this series.
All these were repeats when I was a kid, except Silverhawks.
