Thanks for the view and the comment. Cooldowns are very confusing in GD because they don’t all work the same way. For example, some skills start to recharge while they’re active, and can even have shorter cooldown periods than their up-time, for example Blood of Dreeg (Occultist skill). Generally, skills that trigger on low health or something (Menhir’s Will, Blast Shield) won’t start recharging until their actual effect runs out. Very informative. I always thought Grim Dawn was flexible with classes, weapons, skills and attributes because any type of armor and weapon (caster/heavy/range/off-hand etc) can drop for any class and devotions was also there to help build your character as you like. But it wasn't. There are some skills nobody uses and some classes are worse than others. I have 200 hours in and I feel restricted by class synergies, skills, weapons and damage types. Skills are also very limited and you can't even put all your skills into only one class and max it out. And this is not like mmorpg as one friend tanking, one full on dps and one buffs and heals so if you play with friend, everyone still has to be a solo build and not rely on your friend. Don't stick to one skill because you like it, get ready to change your build a lot until you find one that works.
I disagree, in terms of there being many build options and all of them work if you do it correctly - or, put another way - two combine classes or masteries have various different ways to be built that will work, but yes, also some that do not - the game currently has the best build options. PoE could be better, but the devs of that game dont actually want that, they want to market that way, and nothing more.
@@xBINARYGODx looooooolll no. People ultimately want to maximize damage as much as possible. If only a handful of class combinations work, then there aren't that many build options.
@@damianadivine4368 Pretty much every class combination is viable. Are some better than others? Of course. But you take any class combo and give it to somebody who knows the game and can properly gear them and they'll make a build that can clear ultimate.

Because they're a bit shit? We've all been there. I must admit I quite like creating glass cannon builds, flying by the seat of your pants makes the game a hell of lot more engaging for me.
A lot depending on what kind of sword. Soldier building around forcewave can use a 2h sword, though an axe is best for it. For swinging, you'd also have a Shaman doing primal strike. The default attack replacers (Fire strike, cadence, righteous fury, savagery) also work well with a 2h weapon, though for pure damage, 2x 1h weapons is better for them because of how flat damage scales. Blade arc for soldiers is another one that is really good with a 2h weapon (and cadence, their default replacement can be argued to be slightly better for a 2h than 2x 1h) If you want to play a big 2h sword, I'd suggest going soldier or Shaman (physical or lightning) and working from there.
@@travissullivan6575 thanks mate, I just got up (6am here) and was about to reply with pretty much that same info, although you’ve said more about the default attack replaces than I would have thought to mention - much appreciated 👍

To some extent I’d agree, but the whole point of games like Grim Dawn is giving the player a proper challenge involving multiple ways of killing you off that, importantly, you can learn to avoid, reduce, or completely nullify. If the game held your hand so much that you could do a full first playthrough without ever dying, it would be heavily and justifiably criticised as being too easy. I’m not playing the fanboi card here, but I also don’t think it’s a failing of the developers that the game has so many evil, cheesy ways to catch new players out. Thanks for the comment, it’s a great conversation starter 👊🙂
lol ive been playing this game for 5 years and its always been on hardcore. this game was meant to be played on hardcore there shouldn't even be a softcore setting because there is no seasonal venture like other games. so u can slowly go at your own pace. the best way to do it is to make multiple characters with different builds and move each character threw each level. sure you will loose some but you're hardcore stash will be built up and the reputation recipes will be unlocked so it will get even easier.
@Wojciech Pordzik you can play at you’re own pace that’s the beauty of this installment, there is no need to ever rush! You can play, read wikki, and experiment. I’ve never understood why people even play soft core to begin with there is no penalty for death and playing sloppy. Every hardcore death will teach you something! things you will never learn in soft core. I don’t have anything against people that play soft core but know they aren’t on the same level I’m on. #1 standing in pretty colours.
Because they're a bit shit? We've all been there. I must admit I quite like creating glass cannon builds, flying by the seat of your pants makes the game a hell of lot more engaging for me.
Forgot about enemies with retaliation damage and pets being mind controlled. But great job otherwise

To say zombies were alive is offensive! You're vitally privileged! 😉
If I get killed by zombies, can I legit claim I’m a victim?
Asking for a friend 👊😜
@@Arcadelife1 ...Not if you entered their necrotic safe-spaces. 😂

What jobs that use a double handed sword?
A lot depending on what kind of sword. Soldier building around forcewave can use a 2h sword, though an axe is best for it. For swinging, you'd also have a Shaman doing primal strike. The default attack replacers (Fire strike, cadence, righteous fury, savagery) also work well with a 2h weapon, though for pure damage, 2x 1h weapons is better for them because of how flat damage scales. Blade arc for soldiers is another one that is really good with a 2h weapon (and cadence, their default replacement can be argued to be slightly better for a 2h than 2x 1h)
If you want to play a big 2h sword, I'd suggest going soldier or Shaman (physical or lightning) and working from there.
@@travissullivan6575 thanks mate, I just got up (6am here) and was about to reply with pretty much that same info, although you’ve said more about the default attack replaces than I would have thought to mention - much appreciated 👍
@@Arcadelife1 no worries. Was just prepping to teach a class and procrastinating lol.
Best HC death of the year lol

Can you teach me how to change classes. I chose arcanist shaman and I want to change the shaman 🤣🤣🤣
@@jasonatherton8251 Ok, you need to go to the main menu screen where you create a new character and click on ‘create new character’ … yeah, sorry but you can’t undo your mastery (class) choices. Don’t worry, the first thousand hours are the hardest 👊😜
It’s always the games fault when new players die too much. This isn’t a joke, I make games. That’s just bad game design.
What? Nope? Unless it's some glitch and bug than yeah. But if it's mechanically implemented than no.
@@dreamcore7 plays should be taught well on how the game works before it gets too difficult.
You’re the exact type of person that makes games I don’t like. Grim Dawn is exactly the way I like it.
@@bosspaw4028 someone who makes games that give you a fair chance?
lol ive been playing this game for 5 years and its always been on hardcore. this game was meant to be played on hardcore there shouldn't even be a softcore setting because there is no seasonal venture like other games. so u can slowly go at your own pace. the best way to do it is to make multiple characters with different builds and move each character threw each level. sure you will loose some but you're hardcore stash will be built up and the reputation recipes will be unlocked so it will get even easier.
Interesting opinion. Crazy, of course, but certainly interesting. Thanks for the view and the comment, always much appreciated.
@Wojciech Pordzik yeah the entire soft core needs to be removed from the game.
Because I play for keeps.
Such trve gamer lmao not everyone has time to sink into a game when they have jobs and family
@@rockynets yep I bet I work more than you do just saying! That’s not point I was trying to make! Lol you just don’t get it so I’m not going to explain it again! Scroll up

Because there’s no movement skill to avoid mechanics, you just pretty much have to face tank everything and move out of ground effects.
wrong, there have been movement abilities in the game for years at this point - since whenever the second expansion came out.
You can craft movement abilities or travel to forgotten God's and get a basic one very cheap. Some builds have 2-4 movement skills of one form or another.
as helpfull as your videos are its very boring to watch and not very attention grabbing.
Thanks for the view and the comment, it’s much appreciated 👊🙂
Game sucks.
Did you die a lot?
Git gud
You are as welcome to that opinion as I am to disagree.
