Great demo guys! I’m really enjoying the FZ-1W in the modern setting. The added mids really help it in a mix. I’ve also found that it works well with a boost in front of it. I’m boosting mine with a Catalinbread Naga Viper (treble booster) and it sounds huge. The NV tightens up the low end and gets you more into distortion territory. I never thought that one of my favorite fuzz pedals would be a Boss, but I think they killed it with this one. I’m proud to have it on my pedalboard.
Awesome video! Excellent pedal, title says it all, never been a massive fan of fuzz pedals but this one is fantastic. I use it as a lead/chorus/BIGGER pedal, into an already crunchy amp. Awesome stuff!
After the absurd Tone Bender band wagon hop( solid, late TB clones can still be had for around $200), good to see Boss are actually still capable of some fresh contributions. As a square wave junky of decades, I was surprisingly impressed with this one.
This is the pedal for those who couldn't get the limited edition Boss Tone bender Waza Fuzz, but still want a gray Boss fuzz. I just got the JHS tone bender clone and am happy with it. You could even add "tone bender" over the fuzz font to make it your very own.
*This is definitely my favorite fuzz pedal. 🌞🛡️🎸🎥 Mainly because I have all types of different pickups in different guitars and it sounds really good no matter which guitar I’m playing.*
I bought the Behringer because I wasn’t sure about fuzz & wanted to work with it. I’ve found good uses for fuzz on my stuff now & love the pedal actually. This looks like a good candidate for the upgrade to a metal-housed pedal.
The Super Fuzz? That’s a great fuzz - we actually just filmed a shootout between the FZ-1w, FZ-2 (which is what the Beringer Super Fuzz is based on) and FZ-3…it was interesting to see how different the three pedals sounded!
I was close to getting this but got a Thorpyfx Field marshal instead UPDATE: still have and use the Thorpyfx :) but just grabbed a minty secondhand FZ-1w :)
Do you guys know if this is a two transistor (fuzz face style) or three transistor (tonebender style) fuzz? Also...this is the best demo of this pedal so far 😉
Well...I found that very interesting. Firstly, I dig fuzz and have a few hanging around with the T4 currently on my board. What I was thinking was Gobor loves fuzz and Alex not so much. It wasn't until the end when Alex raised his hand 😆 that it was verified. Alex didn't look comfortable & kinda left much of the demo to Gabor, who was rather inspired, particularly playing his J Mascis. (BTW not having a crack at Alex was just an observation). And so there's the tale of fuzz. Most aren't easy to use, including pedal board placement where they can be really fussy. In vintage this seemed like a fairly 'gentle' TB inspired circuit. And as per the video could be a good introduction to fuzz, with the addition of the modern circuit that seems to straddle the line between distortion and fuzz very nicely. Top video fellas. 👉 😎
Hehe…yep I do love a good fuzz (Gabor here) and Alex not so much! There is just something about a fuzz with lower tunings! The Browne T4? I hear a lot of great things about that pedal!! Thank you nostro1001
@@TSFAHTPS The lower tunings was a great tip. Yup, was referring to Browne. Worth a try if you can get your hands on one to demo/review. Although, nothing in the world of big muffs is overly new, it just seems to be so useable, including in a mix. Cheers. 🎸🎸🎸
Thank you very much! No, the JMascis is heavily modified…they are Brierley PUs with a P90 style in the bridge and one of his vintage JM in the neck…Fender AVRI Vibrato with a Staytrem Collet & Staytrem Bridge…it’s a killer guitar
@@TSFAHTPS Awesome, it really sounds great there! I have an older one from 2014 but I’ve always been underwhelmed by the stock pickups, I’ll have to check those out! 🍻

Never knew that I wanted this pedal until I saw this video.
Hehe…sorry 😜

Got this on the way! Idk but watching you guys it looked like you were enjoying the he'll out of it with that delay and stiff it sounded rad!
We all need Fuzz and this one’s for me brilliant playing guy’s thanks!🙂👍🎸
Thank you BluesSumlin
Love the videos. What brand is the blue LPJR style guitar?
Thank you very much!! That’s a Larrivee RS2…great guitar!!
What a title mates! I hope it is in fact what it is!
Hehe…I hope it was?!?
When I think of fuzz, I don't usually think of Boss, but this is great. Looking forward to the shootout...
Thanks Randy…we just filmed the shootout…interesting how different all three pedals sounded!!
Sounds great!
It sure does!!
Nice demo! I think I’ll buy one tomorrow! The local store has one in stock! 😀
Hope you’ll like it!!

Blew Gabor's hair off!!! I am definitely in that prefer Distortion over Fuzz but I like this one.
Haha…yep it sure did
Great demo guys!! 👌👌
Thank you very much Ramon!!
Great sounding fuzz guys! I was waiting for your review. Temping for sure to buy yet another fuzz lol
There is always room for one more fuzz 😜
If you want to review a very interesting fuzz I'd give the Russian Deluxe Big Muff a go. Incredible pedal!
I’ve been wanting to try one for ages…I might have to invest in one!!
Great fuzz, great sound with Mascis in C!!!!
Thank you Nuno!!
The low tuned Jazzmaster was dope sounding(especially in modern mode). I bet this pedal would sound great for fuzz bass.
Why would you tune to E Standard?
Do you guys know if this is a two transistor (fuzz face style) or three transistor (tonebender style) fuzz?
Also...this is the best demo of this pedal so far 😉
Thank you very much!! No idea…I’ll check with Boss
@@TSFAHTPS Cheers guys!
How does it get along with other pedals?
Really good…it has a buffer so it works great with Wahs and other pedals with buffers
Well what can we say “it does what it says on the tin” it fuzzes. Blown out when on full gain and very usable all the way through the gain stages.
Hey Robert…yeah it is really good…it’s almost hard to make it sound bad.
Good demo! Good settings 🔥🔥✌️
Thank you very much!!

@@TSFAHTPSt4 is another muff… it’s cool… if one pops up your way grab it…. But don’t go out of your way…
It def. sounds better here than other demos I’ve listened to, nice job! Are those stock pickups in the Mascis Jazzmaster?

The Waza is cheaper than a used original FZ-3. I’m not really into Fuzz but I have an FZ-2 and FZ-3. Avoid the FZ-5 its the worst pedal ever made.
Why are you so afraid to start with the gain at the lowest setting???
Can you really trust a guitarist that doesn't like fuzz....I think not.
Haha…very true
It sounded amazing... but you can’t review a pedal and put another pedal on top 🤦♂️
What do you mean?
@@TSFAHTPS forgive me, I’m replying without re-watching.... I recall it sounded like you multiple pedals on. Do I have that wrong?
...still hate Fuzz...sounds just bad and awful!
