Some nurses never do. I admire them a lot. I have a friend who was a floor nurse for 8 years, then went to stepdown for five years and then was in the ER. She stayed cheerful the whole time I worked with her- 15 years. Just a very kind person, even in those stressful units.
Now that I’m a little old lady, I’m so grateful for those warm blankets, I’d just about rename one of my kids after you.
I love giving patients a warm blanket! The look of appreciation and happiness on their faces when they're finally all bundled up and warm (or at least not cold lol) are some of the nicest little moments on the job.
I just love the warm blanket as I normally run pretty cold so their like the holy grail😊
Maybe that's why Michael Jackson named his kid Blanket. 🤔
😂 Meanwhile I'm begging for ice packs. Since I can't drink anything to cool down and nudity is ... problematic in public.

Yes! Those little mini space heaters were Lifesavers in the ER. When it was slow and you weren’t running around like a crazy person you froze your behind off unless you have one of those at your feet keeping you nice and warm and toasty.
They were illegal in my hospital (supposed fire hazard), but people had them anyway lol
We weren't allowed them, but we abused the warm blankets.
You got that mini heater on meanwhile I'm the one still in short sleeves not even noticing the cold. 😂
This is a naive question, but: Why do they keep the ER on such a cold temperature?

My favorite part about Steve's videos is how he well he displays on his characters several types of personalities reacting at once to their common situation. Really builds a world around it :)
There was an HVAC tech at my old company who would give people who made hot/cold calls fake thermostat dials for their desks. He said it reduced the amount those people called by about 70%.

I can vouchers for that. I put up a fake one at a place I used to work. The department was all women, and the fake t'stat solved the too hot/cold completely.
I worked in a place where the temperature swung wildly - all day long. Turns out there were three menopausal women who worked in a state office next door. They jacked the thermostat from one end to the other. Of course the thermostat our offices too. I watched the HVAC guy cut the wires in the basement to their thermostat and splice them to our new thermostat. Of course he left them with the placebo thermostat because as soon as they adjusted it they would always feel better. Win-win for everybody! 🎉

It's when you're running round, sweating, on the verge of passing out, so you ask if we can just knock the thermostat down a bit, but the answer is always "no, we can't, because Ethel in the waiting room has just asked for another blanket..." 🤦♀️😂😢

Oh God, a year back I went to the ER at 2 AM and the poor girl on the desk was wearing multiple blankets. I blamed some kind of covid fresh air thing....

My dad’s expression was “it’s colder than a well-diggers rump in alaska”. He was from Tennessee and had several colorful phrases he called “Southern colloquialisms”.

The worst is the operating room for non-ob cases, I’m always practically shaking when I’m scrubbed in.
Putting lead on will warm ya right up.
Are OB surgeries in a warmer room than other surgeries?
@@LadyBugPicnic12 yup! Since babies don't thermoregulate as easily they keep the rooms warm to help them out. It makes it really hot under the OR lights and gown and you can't wipe sweat or touch your face so it get's in your eyes unless you ask a nurse to help you.
Burn surgeries are also hot. Your have to operate under heat lamps to prevent hypothermia since they can’t thermoregulate without intact skin. Stepping out after one of those procedures you feel like you have walked through the grossest waterfall ever and then freeze everywhere else until you dry.
I spent 7 hrs in the ER last night and about 2 hours in I needed a blanket. It was freezing in there. 🥶
Opposite for me last week my mother was freezing and I was just fine
I've been told the reason hospitals are always so cold is because germs don't thrive very well in cold temperatures

my hospital has thermostat controls on the walls, but turning the heat up on them does nothing.
Put something cold on the thermostat. It will sense that the air around it is cooler and put out heat. 😎

Oh man that work thing keeps you warm for sure. All the running around would make me sweat. Then they'd tell me to sit with a confused patient that I usually managed to get calm again and they'd fall asleep. I was still stuck in there while they slept though. Then I would shiver from being cold.
I sure used a few of the warm blankets working in the middle of the night as sitter for a patient for 8 hours.

2 times I’ve been in the ER and in an ambulance, and I’m so thankful for warm blankets. Every time they offered me a warm blanket, I would instantly take one because I was shaking so badly.

Greaaat this is something to look forward to (I'm going to nursing school this fall). I'm always cold already! 🥶 This channel has been a unique and valuable way to prepare me for some things to come. If you want to know more about a profession look up comedy of said profession. You'll learn a lot of honest truths.

This is why I wore tights, pantyhose, leggings and an extra shirt under my scrubs/ uniform:)
It's all about the layers. You can peel em off as your running around all day and make people think your constantly changing your uniform!
Once. They gave me about 20 ( not exaggerating) warm blankets at the ER because i was shivering so much they couldn't draw blood from me not take MRI.

Man I wish we could have warmers at work. Nope we have to wait till our most annoying coworker leaves to just be able to turn the AC to a more tolerable level. She cranks that thing all the way to sub-artic levels. And the rest of us wear winter wear to work and still freeze our bums off.
I wish shifts could be arranged so all the cold-lovers could work together in a nice environment and the warm-blooded people can have their heat up as much as they want.
@@crazy808ish should also be an area for the people with middling temperature tolerances. Maybe 0° - 17°C ish. Anything above or below those is either way too hecking hot, or I’m shivering (depending on the time of year).
Dude… I’ve realized if the reason for me ER visit doesn’t kill me, it’s quite possible the hypothermia will! I actually have a bag of warm clothes and fuzzy socks in my car, just in case.

Ahh blankets from the warmer so appreciated especially after surgery. I usually run warm but Xray and surgery are ice boxes.
Plot twist: that's actually the remote control of a bed in the er and now the person is on the verge of getting compressed.
