Oh Shannon Katniss is so fortunate to have you as her Mom. She's so precious. I'm so glad she is doing better. Love the new neon Hello Kitty light. Perfect backdrop for your videos.
@@Mphscat thank you so much, from both Katniss and I! I have given my room a mini Hello Kitty makeover in honor of her 50th anniversary this November! Just waiting for a couple more items to arrive and then I will do a reveal! Hope you are having an awesome Caturday!!!
My 6 y/o kitty chata had her first flare up 2 weeks ago and we just finished administering the final antibiotic today. We're in the same stage of deciding if a biopsy is necessary. Your video about Katniss' first experience and this follow up video have been exactly my experience and I appreciate you sharing what you've learned! Thank you!
You’re very welcome! I am sorry to hear you are going through this too as I definitely know how stressful it can be. Katniss and I are sending the very best to Chata!
I am relieved for Katniss too! She is precious! My girl CeeCee underwent the full-open biopsy surgery 16 days ago. She recovered well wearing a Onesie. I am currently that "housebound cat mom" and it is agonizing. The biopsies were fortunately negative for lymphoma but the Specialist said we need to do the PARR test to really rule out any lymphoma because it can hide. That was a week ago with no results yet. Four days ago CeeCee became lethargic and her mood is low. She started on prednisolone, which I was hoping would help greatly. While she's only had two doses, her eating is much improved (not having had a tube feeding in two days) but her mood remains low. She is on Zofran, Visbiome and Mirtaz. Of course, as always, it is a long holiday weekend and I have no recourse with the vet. She is not in any distress or crisis. She is calm and cool. But I can barely get the occasional purr out of her or a bap at her favorite toy. My only hope until 3 days from now is that she maintains course, and the steroid kicks in and improves her mood. Thank you for your videos I learn more and more about IBD and what to expect. Bless you Katniss!
Awww thank you for your sweet words about Katniss and for telling me about CeeCee. We will send good vibes that her mood improves quickly and she starts feeling much better! I have not heard of the PARR test so I am going to do some research about it. Please keep me updated on CeeCee. That is a big relief to hear it does not appear to be lymphoma so far! Happy Caturday to you both!
My kitten is only about 3 months old and exhibiting signs of IBD. Ultra sound shows gas in his intestines. It is so stressful. We’re giving him antibiotics and probiotics along with cerenia. And transitioned to hills wd
@@eloos4607 oh wow! Three months is so young! I am sorry you are going through this and hope it gets much better with the modifications you have made. Katniss and I are sending the best to your kitten ❤️
@@eloos4607 that's a good move. I love Katniss's normal vet but the insight and care we have received from the specialist is unmatched. They see cases of IBD every day and can definitely provide great guidance!
@@eloos4607 I’m glad! This journey can definitely be hard but there is power in knowing others are right there with you and we can all share our experiences!
The flare up is probably pancreatitis, it goes along with IBD. We had a blood test that was sent to Texas A&M when our cat first got sick and it came back as pancreatitis. The vet says they go together. Do you have her on an anti nausea medication? Also, do you give her B12 injections? They make them feel better.
@@errea2323 Katniss had the same blood test last year, and her values surprisingly came back normal. I had been ready to start her on regular B12 injections but the vet said they weren’t necessary because the bloodwork indicated her colon was absorbing nutrients. We’ve still done the occasional one and she has always responded positively. I can’t remember exactly based on what, but early last year when we were going though so many vet visits and tests the vet basically ruled out pancreatitis. It might be worth revisiting/testing as some of her symptoms do seem to align with that. Thank you for the suggestion!
We haven't done the biopsy either. My vet doesn't think it really matters, he treats both diseases with the same protocol. I guess IBD can become lymphoma. I didn't like the appetite stimulant you use and Marcus gets it compounded into a capsule. I pay $335 for a 60 day supply of his 4 meds. I don't even know what I pay for the B12 injections.
@@errea2323 that is exactly what my vet said - regardless of biopsy result the treatment is the same. Interesting about the meds! It’s such a process to find out what works best for each individual cat. And it is definitely not cheap! But well worth it!
What has your cat's experience been with IBD flare-ups?
