@@drewtalksHi mate. Great video. Exactly what ive been looking for. I have a decent pc to use this on but it's also my personal pc. Can you recommend a pc that this unit would work well with ? Link would be helpful. TIA
My friend got into PC gaming, he had no games, and after spending $1200 on his pc. He decided to buy the 12tb drive instead of buying games. And lets just say he is still working his way down the list of games. He's currently at game #5, out of like a million xD. Uses it like a console too. Worked out great for him.
I mean this would probably be godsend to those people with no internet connectivity. I mean, these games are all pirated so if you have a good internet connection, everything is easy peasy.
🙂 correct, this is ideal for gamers that live in third world countries such as Latin America and India and South East Asia, also to setup a low spec Cyber Cafe, you also could flip pcs and include some preloaded video games for the new buyer
@@MrSamadolfo India? internet is dirt cheap here and i think by statistically india has cheapest internet in world. Also piracy is so common here, government dont care you don't even need VPN here its very easy here
😊 what? I did not mention anything about the Internet? Even if the Internet is FREE? Im talking about Hard Drives where all the hard work is already done
I know on the steam requirements section, certain games say the need an SSD to work. Has that ever been a problem for you while playing the more modern games on this HDD?
I have 210 PC on my launchbox, not even counting all the emulated games 896 total and roughly 2600 between my coinops and hyperspin builds on my launchbox. I believe aside from a few triple A titles I'm waiting for and my arcade collection I'm winding down on all the collecting. It was hard work compiling everything but saved me money not having to invest in an Amazon drive. I've already backed up my 12 tb drive with another, same with my XB and arcade. All set🤘
Can you help me Alan? I’m confused did you buy a premium version of launch box that has AAA titles in it or is this a separate service that works with launch box I’m trying to get into this space but am treading carefully for fear of viruses etc when buying a pre downloaded hard drive.
I have handmade SSD with 2 TB of games (totally not pirated!) dumped inside. To make all complicated and easy to navigate, I've made simple program that opens once u plug and shows list of games to open. Useful, as my main PC's HDD where every file excluding system is located is slow and ssd is only 120 gb which is not much. Also having a pretty good laptop, which only has 512 gb drive full of study materials and projects, always easy to plug and play games, for example while you travel, also made it so saves located on that drive so i could access them on laptop outside and at home on my pc
Interesting... Is it pluged by an usb port or sata? Do i need tu set the boot from the bios to start on this drive or can i start it from my current ssd within windows 11?
ah if you scan it it will return lots of virus's and delete files, making it unusable - the "cracks" used to bypass the security checks, show as a virus due to their nature, so best to turn of AV or have the drive exempt from scanning But, you always have to be careful, you have no idea what is on these drives - so use at your own risk
Well... They're all pirated so what's the need to do that, you won't be able to play multiplayer with your friends if you buy this (And yeah, there exists a site that hosts copies of games that have pirated multiplayer but these HDDs im certain dont have em).
@drewtalks Would an 8bitdo controller work with this hdd? And I'm new to stuff like this so the hdd can have tb of storage but my PC doesn't have to match that tb does it?
Isn't that considered piracy? Is £300+ for the 12TB version considered cheap? I didn't realise that FTP's were still a thing. Using FTP's with poor security was "How we got started" back in the late 90's. Pub scanning they used to call it. Scanning the internet for weak FTP's, using Proxy List's for security, or I.P. spoofers. If it wasn't FTP's, it was mIRC. Every other server was 95% full of hard core porn. Now, we use VPN instead of proxy lists. None of this is anything new. It's been around for the past 30 years. I remember a time, when we all had cases full of Verbatim CD-R's and DVD's, because they had more space than a lot of hard drives, which usually had to be compressed to get double the disk space, back in the days of Windows ME, or '98. That's how we all used to do it way back when, but back then, a AAA game was Duke Nukem 3D, Quake 2 or GTA, a game that was typically installed from one or more floppy disks. I don't think that you can even buy floppy disk drives any more, can you? Apparently, according to the internet, the Department of Defence (DoD), still uses floppy disk drives in some of their "technology", who knew? tax payers dollars at work.
to explain it very simply ftp is file transfer protocol, basically let's say on the same wifi you have one computer with an ftp client program installed (the computer you want to receive files on) and on the computer that already has the files you have ftp server installed then you set it up (I'm oversimplifying just so that you get the idea) and connect the client to the server and you can copy over files from the server computer to the client computer. the most common reasons I've seen for using this personally are like wirelessly transferring files from a pc to like a hacked playstation vita for certain programs and stuff and the other reason I've seen is like transferring files from your pc to your steam deck, for whatever reason you may have for having files on a pc but you need them on the steam deck
Would be nice if they had one of these drives that was strictly pinball. I get that you have to worry about the DMD and that kind of stuff but it would still be pretty cool.
It also shows how DRM is really just punishing people for legitimate purchases. Would I buy this, no, probably not. But with things like regional pricing, region locking, always online, continuously intrusive DRM, developers patching out mod support, etc., I can see how something like this would appeal to someone.
@@drewtalksi have a laptop which does not reach the minimum reqt of cyberpunk from steam im on a r5 rx560x 16gb rig, does purchasing a hdd with this setup makes it playable?
