My daughter is really shy so I always worry about people scamming her and thats what happened. it's not like they do one nail at a time, they'll do each step on each nail as they go so by the time you can tell that the shape will look nothing like you wanted (because they have to shape them and file them and coat them and cure them before you even get to the polish, it's a long process) they're already almost done. also a lot of nail techs will seem super excited to do them, so you essentially feel like you're crushing their soul if you tell them you don't like them, and then they would have to painstakingly take them off and redo them. you'd be in the chair for like three hours lol. it's hard to be like "actually, these aren't what i was asking for, can you use like double the products you were expecting to because you bit off more than you could chew" when the nail tech is gushing over how beautiful they are on you lol

As someone who tattoos, let me tell you something Charlotte. All of the "reality" tattoos are done very blatantly by someone who is considered a "scratcher", which in the tattoo world is a derogatory dig referring to someone who buys a tattoo machine (on ebay, usually) and then tries to give people gangrene. An actual tattoo artist would (more than likely) NEVER!!!!

    • @brendaleelydon
      @brendaleelydon 2 роки тому +24

@@dausirenslament9766 Adding to fine advice from @AppleLapple I would also mention that a good artist would NOT give you an exact copy of someone else's tattoo. Like, if you went into the shop with a tattoo magazine & said, "I want this exact tattoo!" a good artist would tell you they aren't going to copy someone's work, but could work with you to come up with something in the same vein (ha!) that would best suit your particular anatomy & their particular skillset.
Which brings me to: make sure the artist you pick works in the style you want. You wouldn't go to a gynecologist for a face lift, nor would you see a opthamologist for plantar warts, right? An artist may do fantastic black & grey work, but hasn't honed their colorful neotraditional skills, just as someone who creates brilliant watercolor-like designs is likely not the best person to go to for your dark & bold grim reaper tattoo. And *ALWAYS* RESEARCH A PORTRAIT ARTIST for your portrait (or any hyper-realistic) tattoo, and be willing and able to pay through the nose for it. Remember, you're paying them for the years of experience they've spent honing their skill, not merely for the ink & needles used in your particular tattoo. 😉😏

Tip for cut cookies. When using a cookie cutter you want your dough to be cold (not rock solid), but still cold. It will help with getting the most detail when you cut and keep the dough from sticking to your cutter. After you cut out your cookies and put them on the cookie tray you need to put the cookies in the fridge for about 15 minutes or so. This will make it so they do not spread as much during baking and stay the shape you want them.

The Mickey Mouse cake happened in a Latin American country. The baker's daughter was the one who made it - the baker could not make it for some reason (I think it was health or family related), so her daughter who is learning offered to fullfil the order - . When the baker saw what happened, she actually gave it for free to the customer because she knew it was not what the customer wanted.
It became a big deal because the customer dragged her throught the mud on TikTok, making it seen like the baker had charged him with a sky-high price, and the baker had to go on TikTok to show the proof that it was given for free. The baker even received death threats over it

The cake pan was just used incorrectly. The face is on the underside of the pan. You fill the cake pan to ¼ inch below the rim, set it on a baking sheet in case of overflow (with these pans I find it's better to have a little too much better than too little), bake the cake, let it cool, shave off all the bits that poke up above the rim, flip the cake onto your cake plate, and, voilà, you have a skull cake!

As someone who used to do manicures: unless the price tag upfront is an estimated triple digit figure in a salon KNOWN for its replication skills, you really can’t expect exact replicas of the images you show the manicurist. It’s not just skill, it’s also differences in chemical formulas (I.e. Shellac is a whole different beast than standard gel), brand pigments, available supplies, etc. But then yes, skill is a big part of it, and if the manicurist isn’t making top dollar, they can’t afford to spend time and/or valuable supplies practicing and practicing and attending additional trainings, etc. If you’re ballin’ on a budget, the best nails will come from having zero expectations and telling your artist a general idea but that you’re open to whatever they suggest. I had to tell people no, I literally cannot paint hibiscus flowers on thumbnails, but I could rock their socks off with my beach-themed ombré! 😅 I just looked at all these examples and could immediately tell there was too much expectation on too small a budget; even the $120 one was probably paying for just supplies, not necessarily compensating for time sufficiently enough for the artist to practice.

For those who wanted micro tattoos with exceptionally fine lines. They obviously don't know anything about tattoos. Fine line tattoos are generally thought to not last long in its originally intended state because ink migrates a bit with movement and age. Tattoos not only fade with time, but also tend to get a bit blurry over time. And the ear flower girl, that area has a lot of sebaceous glands and that tends to make tattoos blurry. So simple shapes like black stars work well in that area. I bet the tattoo artist tried to get her to choose a different place or a different drsign, but because it was her 18th birthday, the girl insisted. Long story short, DO YOUR RESEARCH!!

Like the tattoo artists who popularized them are kind of using people for their art without consideration for longterm effects. A lot of people think goth is just about the fashion, but it’s roots are actually in the music and while it’s small, goth is a genre of music. Popular bands include The Cure, Dresden Dolls, and Skinny Puppy. Basically to be goth you just need to like the music, just like to be a metal head you need to like metal music. A lot of people in the scene choose to dress differently, but it’s not a requirement. Similarly if you only like the fashion but not the music, you don’t qualify as goth.

@@davidguidry657 it's just an aesthetic. If you prefer black and jewel tones to the rest of the colour spectrum: if you like strong, theatrical makeup & hair that's more Disney Evil Queen than Disney Princess: if you enjoy niche music that explores more dark concepts - death, loss, _obsessive_ love, etc. - than most: if you appreciate sensualism in the decor of your home & the fabrics you like to wear (such as velvet, silk, lace, leather, etc.): if Halloween is kind of like Xmas to you: if you prefer the art of the Romantic movement: if you think gargoyles are kind of Gucci: if you just generally identify more with a dramatic, "spooky" style in most of your personal expression to what most ppl choose (tho _judging_ ppl for being mainstream/basic is optional, & in my opinion dickish)...if you're all or more of these things, then that's goth (& both goth + _a_ goth equally apply, as it's both a style + an identity; good question!).
Some ppl go goth because they feel alienated from the mainstream in one way or another, & they're seeking a community of similarly differently-identified individuals.
Some ppl just find the theatrical darkness of the style more beautiful than other looks, & so gravitate towards it naturally (that's me - even since I was little, I always thought Maleficient was more fire than Aurora).
The subculture's been around since the 80s, when it originally evolved out of punk, & it's made up of ppl from all walks of life + all ages in it. I've been goth since as soon as I had enough independence to start choosing my own clothes, & wearing makeup, in my mid-teens.

For tattoo artists, do your research. Always check to see what previous work looks like. As others have said, have the artist draw it out beforehand to see if it’s what you want, and up to your expectations. Skin is a funny medium to work with, and it changes over time, the ink along with it.
I actually think the flowers behind the ear wasn’t a bad tat, it’s just not the picture she wanted. And the gnome, although entirely not right, was actually still cute. I get the person wouldn’t be pleased when expecting the drawing though.
TLDR: Don’t cheap out on tattoos and nails. Do your research to make sure the artist is up to your standards.

About that Arbys burger, this reminded me of the Australian Burger King clone releasing a pulled pork cheeseburger and there’s hardly any pulled pork meat. Needless to say, I contemplated a heist for all the French fries for a failed sandwich that night. Facepalm moment!

Okay regarding the tattoos, specifically the first one, I don’t know how anyone can get a tattoo that big and only realise how shit it is at the end. Anyone with two eyes can see how bad it is long long before it’s finished, whether you’re artistically inclined or not.
I have one that fits the category of this video, but it’s on the back of my neck. I got it 14 years ago and will be getting it covered hopefully by the end of this year!
My advice for anyone wanting to get their first tattoo is do your research. Go on their socials and look at lots of photos of their work. Also make sure they are capable of doing the style you want as not all tattoo artists can do every single type of tattoo.
I have two that I stick with for this reason.

The secret to a good tattoo is simple - a good artist and a respected tattoo shop. Seriously, these look like drunken mistakes. A normal artist makes a stensil and from there you can tell what it will look like. If you let your friend poke you with a needle - that fail is on you.

every tattoo i got was stencilled on first and they asked me if it looked good before they tattooed it on permanently. 🤷🏻‍♀️ do your research,go to a good tattoo shop, watch them work, look at their portfolio....

If you're baking something and want a flat top..lower the temperature of the oven. So instead of baking at 350, lower the temperature to 275, and bake longer.

One time when I was like 11 or 12 my sisters and I went to the nail salon down the street to get a $15 full set (this was 20+ years ago, but still that was pretty cheap even then lol). My older sisters got plain single-color tropical manicures, but I was feeling adventurous and decided to pick one of the shop's fancy designs.
As soon as they started putting the first lines on.. I knew it wasn't going to be what I actually asked for. I was so annoyed. Then at the end the air brushed a bunch of pink on and somehow turned these nails into the cutest fcking nails I've ever had. They ended up doing this ombre effect, only instead of vertical it went horizontally, and this was YEARS before ombre nails was ever a thing. I'd never even heard the term "ombre" back then. All my girlfriends at school thought they were so cute.. I felt like hot sht for 2 weeks, bottom line. Happiest accident in nail-form I've ever had lol

Most nail techs won't say "no" to money. Having an expectation and having them meet it are two different things. Find someone with nails you like and ask them.who does theirs. $120 is obscene for nails. Glad I do my own, and don't like a bunch of nail art. Just a boring solid color unless you have a totally off the chart nail artist.

$120 isn’t obscene for nails in my area, so I think where you live has a lot to do with it. But yeah, either way, they aren’t gonna say no even when they know they can’t deliver. I do my own nails now, too.

The best sets I’ve ever gotten was when I said “fuck it, surprise me”. Most of the techs are very talented, but can’t replicate a 300$ professional influencers copied nail set or aren’t given any wiggle room for pain tolerance, time, shape or crappy reference photo. That or they just suck :)

@@sophievanderbilt1325 I admit, I am out of the loop for getting nails. I am a licensed Cosmetologist, and , although trained in nails, and do my own, I wouldn't use that part of my license and take clients for $$.I do hair,. If it takes a couple hours that's probably fair, when you break it down. Just seems like a lot, before a tip.

I'm SO with you on the nails. Either I do a basic job on myself, or I leave them plain. I have always (personal judgement, I do not pass it on to others) seen getting my nails done as a kind of mad self-indulgence - like a "First-World Complaints" issue.
Maybe if I finally got it done I'd be a totally different person though lol
