  • UPDATE: THE BEEPING HAS STOPPED!
    I couldn't find a UA-cam video on how to take off the back panel inside the freezer section so I read about it and decided to try. I am not a UA-camr but I try to share any tips I can to help other people out so they don't have to spend days looking for something just like I did.
    WHAT I DID:
    I used teaspoons as spacers around the edges. I used screw hooks to pull the panel off because my fingers didn't fit into the grill-like section. After taking off the panel, I plugged it back into the power and checked that the fan works. Then unplugged again *Very Important*. Then I slid out the bottom little panel so I can get to the drain hole. Cleaned out the debris that was blocking the hole and causing ice in the freezer and making the fridge section warm.
    I'd love to know if this helped you so please like or comment. I won't get paid for it, I'd just feel happy to know.

    Thank you thank you thank you. Lady you are my saviour because after all the researching I've been doing online to find out how to remove that panel myself, I almost gave up and going to call the technician. OML - all I wanted was to clean the coils.....and every search I made either came up with a "I'll help you for a fee" OR links to the "Fisher & Paykel instruction; product parts and/or installation manuals". None of my searches, whether it was reading information online or watching UA-cam videos helped me learn how to do what you just demonstrated in 5 minutes. So grateful for all the people like yourself who learn and share necessary knowledge for the running of our everyday lives. Keep doing your thing lady.

    Fan was noisy n looked for solution on youtube as usual. Found this Excellent tips on opening the back panel with spoon. I also passed a string thru the vent holes to help with pulling out the outer panel. There's another panel with fan behind this outer panel. Watch out for the sensors wire on the right. Mine also had the copper piping glued to the left side of the fan panel. I unknowly bent the piping but luckily did not leak else I can send my fridge to the junk yard. Haha.
    I had to force the bent pipe back forcefully to fit the panels back in again.
    Took out 2 big chunks of ice between the back panel n fan panel and fan sound is gone. Hopefully the defroster is working and ice don't built up again.

    HUGE thank you, brilliant idea with spoons. I was struggling to get the panel off without risk of breaking. Went through several youtube unhelpful gumf then saw you or rather the back of your head 😁 and thought yay another resourceful woman, I'll watch the video . So glad I did. I'm very grateful for the tip. Huge hug from Perth x.

    TIP on removing the back panel: An easier method that worked for me. Using the 2 strong hooks that come attached to the ends of an elastic straps, I passed a hook thru the back panel top left corner and a hook thru the right corner grill, and then gently but firmly pulled the panel out. Caution, there is a fan attached to the back panel in some models.

    Thank you. My fridge alarm started going off on Christmas morning and after removing the ice in the freezer it stopped. But 2 days later a very loud rattling noise started up but trying to remove the back of the freezer to inspect the fan was a very daunting task, as with no screws it looked like a matter of yanking it off and the risk of snapping the plastic was putting me off. But the thought of paying hundreds of dollars to get someone out was worse! Your video gave me the courage to try. I cut two fingers in the process, but I removed the back and chippped out loads of ice and got everything back together again, without breaking anything and the horrendous noise has stopped.

      It will work until it ices up again! it h as a defrost problem, its not resolved by just melting the ice away!!

    Thank you Elanor, our E521T had completely frozen and wasn't draining, there ended up being a block of ice behind that panel on the left hand side, your video help me get the cover off. I used 2 spoons at the top to clear the two clips at the top, then carefully a large screwdriver in the the vents and slowly levered each side off a bit at a time.

    YES - This DID help me getting the freezer rear interior panel off and I thank you.
    I have a slightly smaller model E331T but looks quite similar. This model has a fan built into the back cover so once it comes loose you need to take care not to pull on the connecting wires.
    First I used some teaspoons as in the video. And then I noticed there are two small holes around the top lip (one on either side of the top edge). I used some small S-hooks I had in my kitchen drawer to hook through & behind those holes which gave me good leverage to pull on the back cover with. So yes, hooks also worked very well for me.
    Haven't fully diagnosed the issue yet but I've been able to test the 12V fan and had it defrosting overnight in case of ice blockage. I'll now check for other blockages as you had. Otherwise I guess it's probably my temperature sensor gone bad (freezer was fine, just my fridge was almost room temperature). Thanks so much for taking the time.

      Turns out there is a second fan accessible from inside the fridge compartment on my model and a wire had come loose from it. Soldered it back on and voila! The fridge lives.

    I have a little silver foil the face plate that was in the freezer ! But have no idea where it’s supposed to be?? It has a small line of old sticky tape but mine wasn’t stuck to anything! Any one know where it goes? Also should the freezer fan constantly run or on timer? Ie: if I plug my f & p fridge freezer E series with freezer on the bottom should the fan work?

    • @chocolate_squiggle
      @chocolate_squiggle Рік тому

      Maybe too late to help you, but for anyone else (I was confused about the foil strip as well);
      I had the same - the foil strip seemed to be sitting loose at the bottom of the coils once I got the cover off. I think it should be taped to the back of the interior cover. There are some plastic protrusions that fit through some slots in the coil so you can see where it goes, and I had old sticky foil-tape marks which showed where it had been attached previously.
      As for the fan, when I plug my E331 fridge in, the fan comes on when BOTH doors are shut. I don't know if it's on a timer once it's running normally, but this was the situation when first switched on when I was testing mine. To trick the unit into thinking the door is shut, you can move a fridge magnet along the magnetic reed sensor - there's a rectangular cover just underneath each individual compartment (fridge/freezer). The door has a magnet in it which allows the sensor under those covers to detect when the door is closed (by way of that magnet). So you can trick it with a fridge magnet. If you practice with the fridge one first you'll see the interior light come on and off as you move the magnet along that rectangular cover, making it real obvious. Then you can do same with the freezer section and the fan SHOULD come on when you hold the magnet in the right place (make sure fridge door is closed, as it only works with both doors closed).
