+Kris Ross True. I went from taking English as a second language in 9th grade to AP English Lit and Comp in 11th and 12th. At that time I was really getting into death metal and it expanded my vocabulary a lot. It also affected the way I write in a good way.
I love how Max (and Igor) are big supporters and fans of modern metal/punk and still get excited and influenced by new bands. I find it inspiring to see that kind of passion, positivity and dedication, especially when a lot of old metal legends say stuff like metal is dead and moan about how it's not like the good ol' days. The Cavalera's bros just seem like ordinary guys who love heavy music and always will.
Iggor is down to earth and supports brazilian metal. This guy moved to the US, broke connections he had in Brazil and went on with his projects (which is fine)... But hr sure as fuck isnt down to earth. Hes not a gringo and always played that part, not at all proud of his cultural roots either. Vikings my ass all due respect to the northern europeans out there... lol
I remember my very first metal record really well. My older brother got me this tape labeled "CHAOS AD" on one side and "PANTERA" on the other when i was around 8 years old. He told me "listen to this bro. It will change your life". Well, It fucking did. I'm almost 31 now and the passion for this music only grew bigger and bigger. Max Cavalera will always have a special spot in my heart because of that very first tape I played over and over untill it didnt wanna play anymore. Thank you man
Chuck and Max used to be in touch since the early 80s days of tape trading, and had a lot of mutual appreciation for each other's work - you can see Chuck wearing a Sepultura shirt very often in photos from those days! And Sadus shirts too ;) thrash til death!!!!
@@2confrontational didnt know that, that is a really cool piece of metal info. My favorite time for metal was the late 80's and early 90's. Kind of sick of hearing "metal died in the 90's". No. It did not. The industry just didnt promote it, big deal, it lives outside of mainstream channels anyway. Sepultura, Pantera, White Zombie , Death, on and on... a lot of good bands were going for it in the 90's.
I definitely noticed the Death shirt and I have listened to them in high school. Death is a good band and Chuck Schuldiner was a good guitarist and singer. Legends of Death metal!
Max Cavalera's voice is so powerful I love it! SOULFLY TRIBE FOREVER!!!!!! Glad to see you on the SOULFLY/NILE 2018 Tour. I got to talk to Marc Rizzo for a little bit after the show Asking him about the new album and the tracks. Marc Rizzo was a very awesomes person to meet Hope to see you again in Salt Lake City soon!
Eckhart V. The fuking hippo asshole saying shit about my favorite singer mad max really he is one of the best burton c bell to. Hope they do a couple songs together yo hippo say max is fat someone should smash your face in slayer show coming to buffalo at darrien lake be there make smashed potatoes out of your face. Lmao
Scott Denja duuuuuuude who are you talking to? Eckhart V is defending Max and saying that Sepultura is not the same without him. I agree. The real Sepultura is Cavalera Conspiracy! Peace!
What a lovely Man. Seen them maybe 5 times in England, they always kicked ass. In fact the smallest gig I've been to was then in like 2011 ish basement academy 3 Manchester, they were the best band with the best energy I've seen from a long list
I'm nearing 30 years of live shows. Not as many as I used to (Damn wife and kids)🙂. Max puts on an energetic, incredible show as good as anyone. RESPECT 🙏
i grew up in a smaller town in Finland and learned English from Metallica and Iron Maiden records before 3rd grade where they started teaching it in school.
Music has changed so much over the years. I remember being a kid and sending a self addressed stamped envelope via snail mail to the Sepultura fan club just to get a discography. 4 weeks later I got it back and collected all their albums which was up to Chaos A.D. at that time. Saw Max with Soulfly at an Ozzfest. The guy had an infectious energy on stage that you could tell he loved it.

Great interview. Funny thing about this is that I translated all sepulturas lyrics and it was them that got me in to metal. I just loved them from the first time I heard them. Such a cool and important band for the genre.
I met sepultura long ago just before arise came out. I think they were touring with obituary and some other bands. I helped their road crews and we talked and got to know each other when we were young. As time goes on we lost touch as friends, but thats expected. Now im just a fan because their so famous now. This was a little town in new mexico back in the early 90s. God i miss them days.

I don't really like the Sepultura that lacks the Cavaleras. Even when Igor was still in the band, I didnt feel it as much. However, I still see them live every time they came to Philly. Derrick can throw down. Peace to all y'all.
I've listened to his stuff for 30 years and aside from a Soulfly show I've never heard him talk, I'm sure he said more than song titles at the Soulfly show, but I don't remember, that was 20 years ago. I can say I've never experienced a crowd surge like that Soulfly show, I couldn't even put my hands down it was that packed. they had the second stage at Ozzfest in Camden n.j. in like 2002 I believe. I haven't seen Sepultura but I know their stuff.
Love Sepultura with and without Max. He's a cool guy, and so are the Sepultura guys. I didn't know about Sepultura getting their name from Motorhead - great little fact!
Max has to look care about his shape. you can see the energy flowing around him back in the day , nowadays is Just Sad to watch him... and i'm speaking as a fan
MAx is so humble and hones!! Great interview. I remeber when I was teen I did learn English the same way traslating Iron Maiden, Slayer, Sepultura, Exploited, Sex Pistols and many more into Polish 😄, thumbs up👍
